Neat AppleTV trick I found by accident. Posted: 01 Jul 2021 05:43 PM PDT With my HomePods connected to my ATV and watching a Movie or TV Show I can say "Hey Siri, Start the movie over" and it restarts whatever I'm watching. I found this because I created a scene for my lights that the movie was over so it returned my lights back to normal. Any other commands anyone has found that works via the HomePods and allows you to control the ATV? 1st Gen HomePods, AppleTV 4K (2nd Gen), Sony Bravia X90J (in case somehow the TV is causing this to happen). Is anyone experiencing this flickering/shimmering effect with Apple TV 4k? Posted: 01 Jul 2021 04:29 PM PDT Hi, I just upgraded from the Apple TV HD to Apple TV 4k and I noticed that there is a flicking/shimmering effect that I didn't have before the upgrade. In the video I posted, the effect is most noticeable on the top portion of the gray square with the Apple logo in the menus, but this effect is everywhere to some extent. Most of my tv and audio equipment is fairly old. My tv is an HD plasma, and my Denon receiver has HDMI 1.4a inputs. All connected HDMI cables are also 1.4a. I've tried playing around with various settings -- match frame rate on and off, etc. Nothing seems to fix this issue. It's my understanding that the Apple TV 4k is backwards compatible with HD tv's. Is this an HDMI issue? Do I need to upgrade my HDMI cables from Apple TV to the receiver to HDMI 2.1? Or is this possibly some other issue? Volume control not consistent Posted: 01 Jul 2021 07:38 PM PDT My ATV 4K sometimes controls volume on the tv rather than the sound bar. Spiral not 4K? Posted: 01 Jul 2021 06:54 PM PDT Hey everyone! I just purchased Spiral on Apple TV (in Australia) and realised it's not available in 4K. However when searching online I can see there are 4K Blu-Rays for pre-order. YouTube TV app icons Posted: 01 Jul 2021 04:26 PM PDT Does anyone not see the icons on the YouTube and YouTube TV app? They show up as tall rectangles with an X inside. Netflix error 113 Posted: 01 Jul 2021 08:48 AM PDT I have used an xbox to watch netflix for a while, and decided to move to an apple tv 4k, however I cannot seem to get the netflix app to log in. I have tried resetting the password, reinstalling the app, using a different wifi, using my cellphone hotspot, but always get the 113 when I try to login. My browser logs in fine, my ipad logs in fine, but the apple TV does not no matter what I do. I tried netflix support but it was not helpful (told me to contact apple). Does anybody have any other suggestion? I would really like to use the apple tv for netflix too, it shouldn't be this hard. I installed TVOS 15 on my Apple TV 4K 2021, I was unable to connect Airpods and Airpods Pro Posted: 01 Jul 2021 11:14 AM PDT My Airpods Pro was connecting and working after installing the TVOS 15. Later I found that I'm not able to share audio with other Airpods. It's completely finicky. Tried restarting and connecting. It shows both Airpods but unable to select them. Youtube Auto-play not working Posted: 30 Jun 2021 11:54 PM PDT Has anyone had any issues with youtube not working properly? Instead of auto playing the next video, it just completely exits out of the video playing screen and goes back to the home page. Even if I put a play list on, it will still exit after the video is over? This randomly just started happening today. I've had issues for the past two weeks with youtube messing up, but this one is too far. I literally have youtube on all day so this is.. not convenient. Dolby Atmos Headphones w/ Apple TV 4K Posted: 30 Jun 2021 06:24 PM PDT Thought I'd ask this since there have been recent technology updates with ATV 4K and headphones... Are any headphones with Dolby Atmos capabilities able to watch Dolby Atmos content through ATV 4K? I'm thinking about buying the new Sony earbuds (WF1000xM4) and want to know if I'll get Dolby Atmos watching shows on ATV 4K. Question About TrueHD to PCM Posted: 30 Jun 2021 11:01 AM PDT I just got a 2021 ATV4k and am very happy with the performance. The only gripe i see is comparison to the NVIDIA SHIELD Pro 2019 which supports lossless pass through to a receiver. From what I can tell, this isn't as big of a deal as people seem to think, and i'd like some more insight if you can provide it. If you send TrueHD to a receiver, then it will decode it, likely back to its native PCM. Why does it matter if the Apple TV does this process, as it seems to be the same as converting a FLAC to a WAV, but different hardware is doing it, whilst the end result should be identical bit for bit in a lossless decompression. With that said, what am I missing here? Why does the Shield get such praise for lossless pass through when the Apple TV decodes it anyway and passes it off as PCM, up to 48KHz 24 bit 7.1 PCM at that. Sound bar not working after upgrading Apple TV Posted: 30 Jun 2021 04:50 PM PDT Previously I had my Apple TV 4K connected to a Samsung TV and the sound went through my Visio non-Dolby Atmos sound bar. I switched it out for the latest Apple TV today, set it up to copy all settings and everything works except for the sound. Previously I could use the Apple TV remote to control the sound bar volume but that doesn't work and the only way I can get sound is through the tv speakers. When I use the volume controls I get Audio Out/Optical on the screen from Samsung. Any ideas?
