    Good use of widgets

    I really liked how "Spark" made its widgets. As you can see in the picture, the bottom part of the widget is used to give me a quick action button to join the upcoming meeting. I found it extremely productive as I could join a call with a single click. It also navigates me to the appropriate video call app ( In this case, "Google meet" ) instead of the mail.

    Widgets shouldn't just be about glancing information. They should be designed to bring out appropriate tasks that people usually do by navigating through the app. For example, It would be awesome to include the "Call delivery person" option in a food delivery tracking app along with a real time update of the delivery status.

    I would love to know about other app widgets that make life much easier.

    Suddenly my screen has inverted colors but not quite, and the wallpaper (Shiba with a Red Wig) stays through apps like a burned image (looks like a stain but isn't). Screenshots come out normal so I'm guessing screen connector issue?

    Quirky bug in the weather widget, switches from 24 to 12 hour time. Probably can fix with a reset, but had never seen this before.

    14.7 new photo folders gone?

    With iOS 14.6 Apple introduced sub folders named like "year__month" for photos in the DCIM folder via USB. With 14.7 it's back to "100APPLE", "101APPLE" again for me.

    Can you confirm?

    Is there a way to make everything to appear in the same language (English)? Same happens in my Apple TV box, the language and region are set to English and USA but I’m based in Mexico :(

    I own this iOS on an iPhoneSE2 and I would like to upgrade the iPhone 7 with 14.6, on the SE2 it moves ok. I researched looking at 14.6 on the iPhone 7 and everything looks good, what should I do?

    Does the recently played bug appear in only older iPhones?

    I have a XR and I have it on iOS 15 beta 3 and is this bug only for older iPhones or no because I'm afraid to update my iPhone 12 Pro to 14.7 because if I do, the recently played bug will be there and I'll be stuck with it forever and there's no going back.

    And if you don't know what bug I'm talking about, I'll have a screen recording posted in r/AppleMusic.

    Im making a group chat of about 20 people with 5 non ios users. When I send a message it sends to everyone individually instead of a group. Is there any way to fix this so that it is a proper group chat?

    So I was thinking, you can access all of your computer's files in finder, or file explorer on pc, for every app and every folder, but i've only been able to figure out how to view a very minimal amount of app files and folders on my iPhone. I am now wondering if anyone has any idea how to access your iPhone's files the same way you can access your computer's, all the appdata and folders?

    Some apps have registered http(s) URLs that start the app if you follow the link in Safari. Is there a way to prevent this without having to look at every link to open it in the background?

    It's pretty annoying if you want to stay in Safari and search results just randomly open apps. They are web links.

    Question: iOS Notification handling if read on another device

    So far, I have been using Android for decades. It was always the case that, for example, notifications for new emails on the smartphone disappeared when I read this email on another device.

    So far, I have noticed on iOS that the behavior is not like that here. Here, the notifications always disappear only when I open the corresponding app. Is that correct? Or should notifications also disappear automatically on iOS?

    Issues with gif button and guided access?

    I have an iPhone 11, and recently I've noticed the gif button on text messages (red # images button) and the guided access (attempting to start it with a triple click on side button) aren't opening. The gif button allows me to click it but doesn't open anything, just stays on the keyboard. The triple click that usually activated guided access also doesn't work. Any ideas?

    Mother unable to iMessage/Text/Call her friend.

    For simplicity, I will refer mother as, "M" and her friend as, "F".

    M has an iPhone 6s, using the latest iOS at the time of writing and F has an iPhone 11, also updated to the latest iOS at the time of this writing.

    Up until a few weeks ago, they where able to text and call each other OK, without an issue, then all of a sudden any messages from M would not go through to F, 'which we found weird. Also, when she phones her now, it goes straight through to the phone's voicemail. How do we know they did not go through? I have an iPhone 8 (again, also updated to latest iOS) and I was able to send to F and she saw them and was able to respond to me easily.

    F came down as M had done some sewing for her and it was a chance for us to check the following:

    - Have they blocked each other without knowing? No, I checked that.
    - Are their iPhones up to date? Yes, checked that.
    - Have I disabled iMessage on both devices? Yes, M can not send to F any messages after disabling, trying then re-enabling.
    - Can M send iMessages or Calls to other devices? Yes, me & my two sisters - both iPhones. She can also call her sister (my aunt) who is on android and send text to her.
    - Is there any call/text barring software on either phone stopping this? No
    - Any new software or app installed? No

    So I know it ain't of those. Here is the kicker, or the strangest part of it. F can call M with NO problem, the phone rungs and F can send M iMessages no problem, as they come through. Additionally they can both use WhatsApp to speak to each other, send messages and make calls.

    I know the simple solution would be & to answer the comments I assume I would get of, "Why not just use WhatsApp then? They can communicate on that, problem solved!!" - Well yes, they could just use WhatsApp and be done with it, but this problem should not be accruing - any suggestions?

    Is it possible to tether Wi-Fi via USB to your PC?

    My girlfriend has a pretty poor connection sometimes at night so I was wondering if the Wi-Fi with her computers wi-fi card, but her iPhone XS Max has solid connection over her Wi-Fi during these tiems, so I was wondering if there was a way to share the Wi-Fi from her iPhone to her PC. I know the iiPhone XS Max is able to share LTE/5G, but is it possible to share a Wi-Fi network?

    Setting for prompts before opening links?

    On multiple apps, when you accidentally click on a link, it straight away opens up. Is there a setting by which we can sort of enable prompts?

    By prompts I mean that when you press a link, it confirms whether you want to open the link or not.

    Okay but why is Apple getting rid of or change stuff I like and use a lot?

    I mean they changed the recently played screen in the Notification Center with sn annoying bug I wish it just went away. This bug is when I leave and come back into the Notification Center (or be in the middle of leaving) and my recently played music had positioned itself to another spot. Not sure if I'm the only person with this but I'm pretty sure it's a bug. The only positive with this change is the addition of the back pause/play and forward buttons.

    There's also a change when you play a video in the YouTube app but you'll have to see that for yourself.

    So that's it? iPhone batteries are trash now?

    I remember when I switched to iOS, the main reason was battery. Back in the days, Android batteries were good but the stand by time was horrible, and they were all suffering from terrible battery drain for no reason and you had to fiddle with the settings to have a decent standby time. Like you would need to disable Bluetooth and so on.

    So I switched to iOS and was really over the moon with the standby time. The SOT was never great but my phone would drain no more than 1-2% during the night.

    Enter iOS 14.4. That version of iOS messed with something and now I can lose more than 30% in battery drain overnight. I tried everything, including changing my battery for a new one. Still the same shit. Now we're on iOS 14.7, still the same terrible battery drain.

    Granted, I have an iPhone 8 and it's not the latest and greatest, but I'm led to believe that's affecting even iPhone 12 users so it's not only me. The difference is just that my battery is so tiny on this phone it's more noticeable.

    So I guess I just wanted to rant. I am so close to just get a Pixel 4a (or 5a) now. That sucks because I bought a M1 Macbook Air and really like the integration with the phone and my airpods.

    I really like iOS but the battery drain has to stop. It's supposed to be a "mobile" phone, and now I don't trust it to go away from a charger for longer than a couple of hours...

    What's your experience with that?
