    I don't get any notification banners or alerts for Mail App. Any help?

    Notifications for Mail App turned on, and set to Alerts.

    Until today i had only icloud account in the mail app which i never really used, it just received some apple notifications so i wasn't even sure if notifications were appearing.

    Today i added my google and yahoo account with 50k messages, and at this point none of the email notifications appear when i receive a new email, i just see a red dot with the number of unread email appearing when the new email arrives.

    What could be the problem as this is now a big problem for me. I wanted to use all my email providers inside the Mail app, but having no notifications just kills it.

    Big Sur Display Options

    This weekend I re-formatted my 13" MacBook Pro Retina (2017 4 TB 3 ports (Touch Bar)) and installed BigSur from scratch. I tend to use the display in More Space Scaled resolution, versus in default retina mode.

    It's possible I'm mis-remembering but I thought before there were 5 options for size. Now I'm only seeing 4.

    Has anyone come across this? Lost the extra More Space option for Scaled? I tried using option when clicking and it didn't do anything.

    Desktop not showing files.

    Hi All,

    Sorry if this is a commonly asked question, I couldn't find anyone with a similar problem. Since I bought my M1 MBA a few months ago the Desktop has been not showing the files that it contains.

    For example I will put a file in the Desktop folder in Finder, but then it is nowhere to be found on the desktop itself. Similarly I cannot right click on the desktop, no menu shows up.

    I'm running the latest version of macOS and this has been happening since I got the computer. I have not tried reinstalling the OS because it's not that big of a problem.

    Hi there ,

    IDK if anybody has the same problem , but after I started the whatsapp web app on my macbook pro 2019 the layout of the app has some issues ( check image out )

    the issue occurs after a couple of hour from the time the application runs

    Change cache folder location ?

    Is there a way to change the cache folder location for a specific app ? I have an external HD always connected and I was wondering if it's possible to use it for cache for this app.

    I have found this on apple support website (Key -> Data Path : The path to the directory used to store cached content) but I don't know if I should take the risk to change it.

    Has anyone done this ?

    Can’t get rid of Command Line Tools

    After uninstalling CLT for Xcode, it still shows up in System Preferences, telling me to update it. I tried booting up in Recovery mode to get rid of this like some sites said, but didn't work. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Microsoft Office on patched Catalina

    Hello all,

    I have an MBP 13 from 2011 (MacBooPro8,1) on which I installed Catalina using Dosdude's patch. The OS works fine and all but Office applications (M365) apps crash often. Has anyone else had this experience? If so is there a fix? Would appreciate any help as I am using this machine for work and it's just not useful if Office keeps crashing.

    First of all I know what I did was stupid so please don't judge me. I'm just having a hard day dealing with a sick parent, tons of calls from doctors and nurses, and a throbbing headache on top of it.

    So I got the new M1 Imac and it was just a little laggy and I didn't know why so I attempted to do a complete system reset following instructions i found online. I somehow ended up in disk utility and deleted the macintosh hd hard drive. I do not have backups or restore points or anything like that. I called Apple and talked to two different people and they say I need to go to the genius bar. I have an appointment for tomorrow but I'd much rather just get this fixed at home if I can.

    One thing I noticed is they were telling me to press command + options + r to get to internet recovery but after I got off the phone with them some Googling let me know that that doesn't work for my computer bc I have a silicon mac.

    Anyways if anyone has any tips they'd be greatly appreciated. Have a good day y'all

    Is it safe to store all my video files in one external HDD?

    Hi everyone,

    I don't know which subreddit I should post this but since my HDD is connected in a mac mini, I thought I'd ask your guy's opinion.

    I saved all my video files from 2015-2020 in a 4tb HDD that is connected to my m1 mac mini. Is this a smart/safe way to do it? I don't want to lose all my files if ever this HDD gets corrupted.

    If not, any tips on the right way to do it?

    Restoring Catalina from Time Machine backup and now computer won’t start up

    Wanted to try Big Sur, feeling safe with my Time Machine backups. Well Big Sur sucked my ass so went to restore from the time machine backup. It goes thru the whole restore but when it goes to boot up it gives me the folder with the question mark and to contact Apple about startup? Are my backups corrupted? Is the startup disk F-Ed up? Am I wrong to incoherently hate apple and Big Sur?

    Anyways, I can get a clean install of Catalina thru internet recovery but now have to reinstall all my programs and apps and found myself here to rant while it restores. I don't know ish about computers but my 2019 MacBook Pro and the newer OS's just seem to be getting glitchier and glitchier. I miss the mountain lion days.

    Getting a Macbook from my job, what are some good utilities/tips/packages for a developer that I wouldn't know about, coming from Windows?

    I'm very familiar with Unix-like setups since I used to distro hop Linux for years, but I've been out of the loop with MacOS for a while. Last time I used one actively was probably 2011, and I only really switched because gaming. Grew up with OS X otherwise. Figured some of you would know some more niche or relatively less obvious things for me to mess with when I receive it.

    Recovering Desktop & Documents from iCloud after clean Big Sur Install

    I reinstalled Big Sur clean after a not-so-great experience after the update, and I'm having a hard time getting my old stuff re-synced thanks to Mac OS is being typical Mac OS and oversimplifying things that should be a more verbose.

    My Desktop and Documents folders are still present on iCloud Drive. I've checked, unchecked, and checked the option in System Preferences > Apple ID > iCloud Drive (Options...) > Desktop & Documents Folders but no dice. I've searched and can't find much more info.

    I can add files to the desktop and documents folders on my Mac and see that they're syncing, but both folders appear unchanged after refreshes on iCloud Drive Online. Eg. I can add a file to my Mac's desktop, and I'll see the sync pizza, but I won't see it pop up in iCloud online. I can also add a file in iCloud online but not see it on my desktop after a long wait. My existing files aren't pulling down to my Mac either.

    Is there something I'm missing? Thank you in advance.
