| Happy I got the 2021 ATV4K (had the 2017) Posted: 27 Jun 2021 03:46 AM PDT I've had the 2021 ATV4K for about a week.After a few weeks of debating whether to buy the new model or stick with my 2017 model, I'm glad I made the jump. While I am not noticing much of a difference in the video quality using streaming apps (set to Dolby Vision), I love the new remote, and find the new devices so much snappier. I found the 2017 model sluggish, at least when it came to navigation. The new one is fast and I am really enjoying the difference. I'll sell the old one to help offset the cost of the new one. I turned on LG's version of HDMI CEC (called SIMPLINK) and while it works flawlessly with the Apple TV remote, the one issue I do have with it is if I put the Apple TV asleep through the remote app, the actual TV will stay on (I can turn on the TV using the app though). Has anyone had any experience with this and know a fix? It's not a huge deal since I could use to the remote, but it would be nice to not fish for the TV remote if I have been using my phone to control the TV. [link] [comments]  | ||

Almost every time I turn on my Apple TV 4K it uses multiple minutes to establish internet connection, so I've gone from instant TV to 2-3 minutes delay for TV watching. My grandparents are looking to ditch a standard cable TV provider and somehow got it into their heads that an Apple TV is the only thing they need. What are their options for Live TV with just an Apple TV hooked up to their TV? It took some explanation that "no, an Apple TV does not provide a TV Service out of the box." I personally use the latest Chromecast + a Youtube TV subscription (which I am assuming has an app for Apple TV), but what kinds of options are out there? They both have Apple phones, but my best guess is they will be relying on voice + the physical remote. I guess my question is: does an Apple TV make sense from purely a "thing that can provide a Live TV over internet" experience, or would a Chromecast give essentially the same experience? | Posted: 26 Jun 2021 08:39 AM PDT I have a TV with 4 HDMI connections. PS5, Nintendo Switch, Sonos Bar, and Apple TV 4K (2021). The problem is I plan on getting an Xbox Series C as well. The PS5 has the streaming services I need but I've experienced how shitty TV integrated streaming apps are. Does anyone know if the PS5's streaming apps are good like the Apple TV versions in terms of the fact that they don't lag or freeze or are slow? If it's good enough I'll just sell my Apple TV 4K. After the latest update my TVs keep shutting off after 30-40minutes when using the Apple TV. This is happening on two different TVs with two separate Apple TV's. Whatever is on the Apple TV keeps playing, it's just the TVs that shut off. I am using CEC on the TVs, but had never had an issue until after the latest Apple TV update. I have other devices(gaming systems) plugged into the TVs that use the CEC function, but I'm not experiencing the same issue. Is anyone else experiencing this? [link] [comments]  | ||
