    I'm still seeing a ton of people on here who think think the display on the new 12.9 in Pro will be brighter than the 11inch in normal use. That is not the case. You will only see the increased brightness when viewing HDR content (mostly just HDR enabled movies and photos).

    The max brightness on the 12.9 will mostly be the same 600 nits it's been for a few years. That means if you're outside in the sun casually browsing the web, reading a book, writing a paper, taking notes, drawing, etc, you won't see any brightness difference between the 12.9 inch or 11 inch iPad Pros. It's only when showing HDR content (again, mostly just HDR enabled movies and photos) that the whole screen will get up to 1000 nits, and parts of the screen could get up to 1600 nits (for short periods of time).

    However, in theory, you should get better contrast on the 12.9 inch compared to the 11 in most use cases because of the Mini LED display.

    Just an idea for those who can’t figure out what size to take

    Haven't noticed with previous purchases, but why is my AppleCare+ starting a week before I even receive my product? Coverage for my new iPad Pro ends May 12th, 2023, but I won't get it until probably May 21st, 2021, effectively shorting me 9 days of coverage

    If I buy more storage on iCloud and do a backup will it backup everything including apps and app data like my drawings in procreate and artstudio pro and will that let me transfer everything to the new pro when it gets here?

    Hello everyone,

    I am about to make the step into a new era.

    Replacing my MacBook 100% with an iPad Pro.

    But I have some concerns...

    90% of the time I am using my normal iPad (notabiliy, reading paper, books)

    My Macbook is only used for MS Word (scientific papers)/ Excel, Final Cut Pro and Lightroom

    So my concerns are:

    Word and excel restrictions (citing plug in, formulas not supported, eg)

    Final cut pro would be replaced by luma fusion

    Any advice or info a about my switching idea?

    How "long-lasting" are different models of iPads?

    I am thinking to invest in an iPad, and I want one that will last me at least 5 years. I am an incoming medical student, and need a tablet which will be reliable in the long term. Although the IPA is really all I need (in terms of usage, which will mostly be note-taking and studying), I am curious if it would be a better long-term investment to spend a bit extra for the IPP or M1 IPP. Thoughts?

    Essentially, if I get the IPA will I run into issues around the 5-year mark that I wouldn't experience with an IPP?

    Why is my controller interfering with my audio on my Airpods Pro

    I have an 8bitdo SN30 pro controller. It works fine, but when I try to listen to music on my Airpods while using it, the audio goes in and out until my controller just disconnects. There aren't any problems when I listen to music through my iPad speakers.

    Anyone else has Documents&Data take uphalf of their Ipad?

    So from my 64GB about 25GB are Dokuments and Data. I deleted most of the apps that took up "document space". And deleted all files that were unnecessary, does someone else know where to look?

    EDIT: After a few hours it changede to "OTHER". It is like 20 GB now, too

    Can the older Smart Keyboard Folio 12.9" fit the new iPad Pro 12.9" M1? Hoping to save some money

    Hi there, I know that the old magic keyboard can technically be used with the new 12.9" iPads but perhaps it won't close as well. Does anyone know if this same issue is faced with the Smart Folio Keyboards as well?

    I'm a 2nd year medical student.

    Like you, I have also been eagerly waiting for the launch of ipad pro 2021 to help me with my studies and work on a side hustle I've been planning to pursue mainly to help with my hefty tuition fee (I'm not from a privileged family)

    I am not from USA either. So, dollar holds much monetary value to me due to currency conversion.

    Despite that I've been cutting corners from all my life aspects (diet, clothes, lifestyle) since more than a year in order to save money for the purchase. Over, that a few of my friends helped me and I had about $1400 just a few days before 30th April.

    But not being a U.S. citizen I didn't had any U.S. payment option. But I did some research online and got to know about the apple funds that can be recharged with apple gift cards.

    Me and my friends spent the week before 30th April to recharge my Apple ID funds purchasing virtual gift cards from amazon and redeeming them to my Apple ID.

    I was easily the happiest person on earth when I somehow was able to make the purchase within the time window to get me the delivery date of May 21-28. Kept smiling the rest of the day.

    What complicated the things for me was the fact that I didn't had an friend/relative in U.S. who could send the parcel to me in the country I'm currently residing in.

    So I had to use a freight-forwarding service to get my ipad delivered in U.S. and then getting it shipped back to my country to me. The freight forwarding company I used has good reputation here and all my friends use it to shop from USA. So I used the address that company gave me as my shipping address while making the purchase.

    Yesterday, I had a bad case of panic attack as I opened my e-mail.

    My order was cancelled with this message that "The order you recently placed online cannot be processed because Apple does not ship to freight forwarder addresses. Therefore, your order has been canceled. If you'd like to place a new order on apple.com, please ensure that the delivery location is a domestic address and not a freight forwarder. Apple 1-800-MY-APPLE".

    This was the first time I ever placed an order on apple.com, I wasn't aware of any such limitation.

    I kept trembling in panic as I talked though each one of the apple advisors.

    Apple Support was generally very helpful but due to the international call getting automatically disconnected every 60 minutes by itself and me needing to explain everything from the beginning to the every new apple advisor took me a burn of more than 3 hours of international call tariff.

    Conclusion being that they can't redeem that apple ID Funds money back to my bank account.

    Now, $1300 are stuck in my apple ID funds.

    And I'm finding it harder and harder to breathe as the bad thoughts from this mishap seem to envelop me.

    The only option I was able to make sense of was to turn to this community of helpful and smart ipad enthusiasts and ask for your support/advice with my shaky hands and bloodshot eyes.

    I'm already a little relieved by reading your helpful comments and knowing I'm not alone in this.

    I can't believe people have taken time out of their very busy lives and personally reached out to my inbox to check up on me. The word "community" hold much more value to me now.

    On your kind advice I've asked the freight forwarding company to provide me with another address. They seem to be co-operating and have sent me an alternate address. Though it's just the back door of the same building but address lines differ for some reason. Hope apple haven't blacklisted this address. This would be the best option I guess and my world might start to make sense again if this works.

    Approaching a new friendship merely on the basis to pursue a selfish interest doesn't quite resonate with me. I'd rather be completely transparent regarding my situation and end up making a new friend whom I'll forever be indebted to if they agree to help me and come through on their words.

    ​

    The next two options I've thought of, render me completely vulnerable to the next person's conscience and empathy. Curiously, for some reason I can't get myself to trust anyone besides people from this community of ipad enthusiasts. I just need to know the person I'd be dealing with understands and appreciate the value of an ipad for someone like me instead of just seeing it as an expensive gadget.

    • Scenario 1 - If a person from U.S. also needs to buy a 12.9 inch Space Grey 512 GB WiFi model 2021 ipad and kindly volunteers to help me in the process. I can make the purchase using my apple id funds to their address and they can PayPal me the money back upon delivery. As I got it on education pricing they'd get it for $100 less and I'd be able to order mine from amazon. Win-Win!
    • Scenario 2 - A gem of a person agrees to get my ipad delivered to their address and they send it to me here at my country. Yeah, I'll need to revise my budget and everything to save for the costs this method would demand for. But I'll have my device here and a new life hero as bonus! :) There's already a person willing to volunteer for help in the comments!! Tackle-hug!!

    My life has mostly been boring. Nothing I can recall of has ever happened to me of this twisted magnitude. Nor I've ever shared this vulnerable part of me with any stranger, forget about posting in on the internet.

    But since the time I began looking for an ipad, joined this subreddit, began reading your quirky nit-bits surrounding this amazing piece of tech I happened to develop some sort of connection with each one of you.

    For some reason you all feel like my friends and this subreddit seem to become that coffee table everyone brings their excitements and sorrows to.

    Yes, I'm scared and a little hurt but at the same time I am curious about how me being a part of this community of people who share love for our ipads would shape this situation and affect my life.

    iMovie video issues (on IPad)

    So I made a iMovie that was about 40mins long that consists of both pictures, videos, and background music. After I uploaded all the content into the iMovie itself I deleted it all from my camera role. After that I had no issues playing the video and editing it. When I accessed the iMovie yesterday a pop up said that videos were downloading from iCloud, with videos with an indicator saying they were downloading. I didn't see what this indication was supposed to be and instead all the videos in my iMovie were gray boxes that didn't play anything. Then the boxes turned into a yellow and black striped box and a message popped up saying my videos are missing. What happened?! It is saying some videos could not be found and all of my videos I put in the iMovie are gone, with just the pictures remaining. Does anyone know what happened. I don't know why it would have to do with deleting them from my camera role because they were present after that with no issues for a while. I deleted the photos from cam role too but they're still in the iMovie. Can someone help me?

    Logitech Combo Touch coming to iPad Air 4?

    I wasn't sure whether to post this here or r/Logitech, however I wanted to know if the iPad Air 4 will be getting the Logitech Combo Touch soon. I want to get a keyboard case soon, I'm scared to get the Magic Keyboard because I'm clumsy and will probably drop my iPad and break it (just my luck). So I want a keyboard that protects my iPad while still being able to detach the keyboard at any time.
