It does have screen gate. repaired it's battery and keyboard/top case plus speakers via Apple Store in April. what do you guys suggest from the following? A. Repair it for 500 (quoted by the Apple Store) B. Sell it now for 300-ish C. Repair it for 500 and Sell it for 600 D. Keep using it with this screen. E. Get an external monitor (don't really want to do this cause of portability plus quality monitors cost as much as a second hand 2015 15 inch Macbook Pro) Replacements would be either M1 MacBook Pro or Air background: it's a daily driver and heavily used for work/leisure e.g. adobe suite/final cut pro thanks r/macbookpro :) [link] [comments]  | ||
| Posted: 12 May 2021 01:40 PM PDT Hi guys, First MacBook I've had so sorry if this is super easy and obvious. When using the M1 MBA in clamshell mode, if I let it go to sleep it "forgets" the keyboard once I wake it up. I have to open the laptop to use touchID or disconnect the keyboard from the dock and reconnect it so I can use it to type in the password. Im using the "Anker USB C Hub, PowerExpand+ 7-in-1 USB C Hub Adapter" and a custom built mechanical keyboard (PCB is the dz60 rgb-ansi v2.) Is there a setting I should be tweaking or what else can I do to fix this? TIA [link] [comments]  | ||

| Issue with USB Mouse Lag on M1 Air Posted: 12 May 2021 12:25 PM PDT I just got a new M1 Macbook Air. I am using a Microsoft Wireless Desktop 900 keyboard and mouse through USB. That USB is connected to my Macbook using a UGREEN USB C Hub, 6 in 1 USB C Dock (which is quite warm when it's plugged in) I am also connected by HDMI through the same UGREEN dock to a BENQ 27 INCH monitor. My issue: the cursor of my mouse lags like crazy. It's not all the time, usually the worst when a webpage is loading or playing a video. It is incredibly frustrating! | Confused on which 16inch MBP to get. Pls help! Posted: 12 May 2021 01:58 PM PDT So I own a Mid 2012 MBP. The MBP has an i7 and I Upgraded the ram to 16gb and the HDD to a 1Tb SSD. I like to play games that are mainly FPS' and open world games. I edit videos with final cut on the regular. Nothing spectacular, mainly in 1080p for youtube, tiktok, instagram (social media mainly). I eventually would like to edit in 4k and would like to start my own business doing real estate videos. I'm thinking of getting the i7 processor with 16gb of Ram. Where I get hazzy is with the size of the SSD (cause I can just work off of an ssd/hdd). I would love to upgrade to 1tb and upgrade the GPU to the 5500 8gb. I'm looking to buy an external monitor to enhance my productivity a bit. Since music production can be really heavy for my Macbook I was wondering if power delivery is an important factor to keep in mind. I would like to buy a BenQ EX3203R since it's affordable and not too big. Will there be any issues with power delivery which is only 10 watts? Or should I aim for more? Or is it not important at all? Posted: 12 May 2021 07:33 AM PDT Hi, I just upgraded from a white unibody MacBook from 2010, so I'm still kind of easing into a computer which isn't old enough to be in middle school. One thing I'm missing is the good old magsafe connector. My cats run around the house and it's scary to have them running around the charger cable! I've searched and found multiple types of magsafe-like products, from cables to little dongles. USB-C scares the shit out of me, I've read articles about USB-C frying devices left and right, so I'm not trusting a no-brand chinese cable from Amazon. On the iPhone, there is an option in the photos app called 'create icloud link' or 'copy link'. It simple makes a link which is visible by anyone for the next one month. | Logic Board or Something else? (13" 2014 MBP Retina) Posted: 12 May 2021 06:31 AM PDT Hello r/macbook, So a few months ago, my 2014 MBP decided to stop charging. The battery drained and a few weeks later I replaced the charing port, thinking that was the most likely issue. I tried 2 brand new chargers before replacing the charging port, to no avail. So, the charging port repair didn't do anything. I would get a quick green/orange flash on the magsafe charger and then nothing. Resetting SMC didn't help. So I chalked it up to something else and stowed it away for a while. Fast forward to a few days ago, I decided to just try noodling with it. I plugged in the charger while holding down the power key. The thing booted up! This has not happened since February when the battery drained. The fan runs at full speed upon booting up. The LED indicator on the magsafe stays green the whole time. If unplugged, it will shut off. There is no battery indicator in the toolbar, even if going to energy preferences and selecting "show battery indicator", clicking it does nothing. I've tried a lot of things so far, unplugging the battery and booting up, disconnecting I/O cables and reconnecting, unplugging charging port. If I unplug the charger and try to do the process again, it takes a few rounds of SMC Reset and holding power/connecting magsafe before it decides to boot up again. I say all that to ask: what the hell is happening here? I'm just amazed that it starts up at all. Is this a battery issue, or something larger? Worth fixing? Any opinions would be awesome. Thanks! When the batery is below 20% and I turn on my mac the OS charges but when it's ready to be used the screen goes black and it can't be used until I plug in my charger.
