| Dear Reddit, Please Help Me Out Here (will pay $$) Posted: 09 May 2021 06:48 PM PDT Friends. I've been using a few MacBook for 7+ years and more recently iCloud Drive for maybe 3-4 years or so. I tried putting iCloud Drive on my windows PC for the purpose of transferring files and updating them on both formats (mostly a very specific bagpipe music editing program and file). And even though some files wouldn't transfer rom windows to iCloud, I still had access to the files. TO MY HORROR I can't see any of the folders I've created over the years on portion on my MacBook or iPhone. They still appear on my Windows iCloud Drive but not on may Apple products. Windows PC is cheap and has virtually no space which I think has something to do with it because It's trying to upload 13k files to iCloud and hasn't changed that number in 2 hours. I can still see the files in windows iCloud Drive Someone please help if you're an IT wizard. We can talk payment, but I need my files back. I'll never trust a windows ever again. | The charger we all want: Detachable Magsafe 2 Charger Posted: 09 May 2021 09:09 PM PDT If Apple wants to correct its ways and give us a proper charger that we can use for a long time, it would be a detachable Magsafe charger. This means that the cable connecting the brick to the Magsafe port would be a USB-C to Magsafe 2. Cable broke? Just buy one more, rather than replacing the entire set up.. I have already bought 8 bricks over the past 8 years and the environmental impact of throwing charger bricks that still work is just disgusting. [link] [comments]  | ||

| MacBook Air Space Grey Lid light scratches Posted: 09 May 2021 04:58 PM PDT Guys, I have a question here. I've got a brand new MacBook Air M1. But It has dead pixel in the spot that is quite in the middle, so it's visible most of the time. I took it to an authorised service provider and they replaced the display. So, the new display came with this protective sticker on the Apple logo. I peeled it off, but it left quite a lot of residue. It was dark circle surrounding the Apple logo. I tried to clean it off with wet wipes, because I didn't have dry microfiber at that time. It was finally clean but I noticed there were many... light scratches? I asked the service provider whether they did scratch it, but they said they weren't, and they couldn't do anything about it anyway as I had left the premises with no complaints (that's just the way it is in my country). So, it must be either: 1. Manufacturing defect 2. My wet wipes So, can wet wipes just scratch it like that? I mean I did that with my two unibody MacBook Pros back then but it was fine. Looking for recommendations for the monitor, keyboard, and mouse. I love the simplicity of putting the MacBook in a stand with a USB-C being the only connection. | MacBook Air 2020 i5 vs base model MacBook Pro 2020 battery life Posted: 09 May 2021 02:41 PM PDT Hey guys so I'm a student hoping to get into medical school in the next two years. I'm using an older windows laptop right now and want to get a MacBook so I started doing a bit of research. In the end it came down to the MacBook Air 2020 with an i5 processor for an extra $100 or the MacBook Pro 2020 base model. With my education discount I can get them at the respective prices of $999 and &1199. I will be doing mostly lighter work but might maybe edit like 10 minute YouTube vlogs or play legends of runeterra (riot games' card game pretty light game). My biggest concern is battery life and would like to get the machine with the better battery compared to performance unless there's a huge performance difference. My iPhone 11 Pro Max made me realize how much I value battery life. From my researching, I'm getting mixed results with the Pro sometimes having better battery life but some saying the Air does.
