| MacBook Air(early 2020) intel sleep vs shutdown. Posted: 11 May 2021 10:08 PM PDT This is more of a curiosity question than a problem. Last night I apparently put my MacBook Air to sleep instead of shutting it down. I didn't realize this until tonight when I took it out of my backpack to turn it on and it instantly came on.. It is an intel 13 model and was in sleep mode for over 18 hrs and only went down from 99% to 92% and wasn't hot at all.. My real question is did it do any damage to my MacBook Air? | Just got a MacBook Pro my Brother-in-law Posted: 11 May 2021 10:06 PM PDT My BIL gave me his used Pro a few days ago. He factory wiped/reset it and upon restarting it keeps asking for a password. He's already tried the only password associated with this laptop and his Apple ID password and nothing is working. I've found out about a "recovery key" as a potential fix for this. I have a couple of questions. 1. What password could the laptop be requesting? 2. Will this recovery key process do anything towards opening up the computer for my use? 3. Will the recovery key mess up his Apple ID / his Apple account? Does it reset his Apple ID info? 4. Is there anything else I can do? Basically, 2 nights ago, my phone was at 10% after a 12 hour car ride during which my phone was on the whole time. I came home, plugged it in the charger, and noticed the phone was charging backwards. It went from 10, to 9, to 8, all while plugged in. I put it down and went to sleep, waking up the next morning to find that it wouldn't turn on or even show the little "plug your phone in" animation. So I replaced the battery today at Apple. I came home and plugged it into the charger (they gave it back to me at 10%), and once again, it was going through a negative charge (and the battery still said it was being charged). I took it off the charger and let it die, and then put it back on the charger. It has been there for the past 15 minutes with no sign of coming back to life. WTF is going on??? [link] [comments]  |

I have tried what seems like everything, trying to add a new internet account (i dont have the option to add a message account), logging in and out of apple id, and going through message preferences (the email is the only option and there isnt a button to add a new phone number). please i am begging someone please help me i have been using this computer for a year now and i really want to be able to text off of it normally I am updating it to the Big Sur 11.3.1 right now, so maybe that will help? | Unusual Drain of Battery Life on iPad Pro 11 (2020) Posted: 11 May 2021 10:44 PM PDT So, context. I am currently nusing an iPad Pro 11 (2020) for about 6 months now and I'm currently running iPadOS 14.4.2. I recently stsrted to notice the severe drain in my battery life on my iPad. I didn't out much thought to it initially as I previously played a lot of Genshin Impact on it and expected the battery life to drain quickly as it is an intensive game, however, after running some tests I realized that my battery drainage ranges from around 2.5 to 3.5 minutes for every 1% of battery drain on normal usage such as searching the web or reading news/checking stocks. Can someone provide me with information on their iPad if they encountered similar problems or is my iPad battery draining at a much higher rate and I should get a replacement unit. Thanks for the comments in advance Edit: I tested playing Genshin Impact to see what battery life I get. It's a rough estimate of a drain of 1.5 minutes of every 1% used, which is reasonable I guess. | I can't download anything from any browser! Posted: 11 May 2021 06:40 PM PDT I have a late 2011 iMac that I got a few months ago. Things were working fine for a while but today while trying to download YouTube videos from my channel Firefox had a message saying that it can't be saved and to contact administrator. I went through all the steps to try to fix it I cleared the cache, refreshed it and I even uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it didn't work. I tried on safari but as soon as I start the download it immediately says lost network connection even though I am still connected! I restarted the iMac, shut it down and started it up again and I even tried to make a new user account too but I'm getting the same messages as I did on the original account! Any ideas? | Stolen Apple ID? Or something else? Posted: 11 May 2021 10:01 PM PDT Firstly I'm using fake names here. My aunt Mary has her own email address, but her DIL Jane Doe doesn't and doesn't understand emails or computers. So she or her son used my aunt's email address to sign up for her Apple ID in 2015. Recently, aunt Mary received 4 emails within 24 hrs saying "Dear Jane Doe your Apple ID was used to sign in to iMessage on a MacBook Air 13" named VBG58JYB98." I believe these emails are legitimate as it's not asking her to do anything, it's just a notification. The links in the email are also legitimate. But in each of the four emails, the name of the MacBook is different and it's always random letters/numbers. Does anyone know why the MacBook names would be different? An even bigger issue is that as far as I know, Jane does not have a MacBook, unless she recently bought one for her son. Even if she did, I would think he'd use his own account. I'm thinking someone got Jane's password somehow. The problem is that Jane left the family and aunt Mary died a while back. I have control of her email because her grandson has his Google and Microsoft accounts attached to it as a backup email for security purposes. Suggestions on what to do? Could someone do damage with the Apple ID? I would think they would want to change the associated email address and that an email would be sent to aunt Mary's email if that were the case. I thought about trying to get into the Apple account myself, but if Jane's actually using the account. . . Technically, I was supposed to close aunt Mary's email account, but I left it open for her grandson, and for this kind of thing. There's still legitimate accounts attached to it, like Jane's Apple ID. What do you all think? The four different MacBook Air 13" names bothers me. Why four different ones? Stolen merchandise? | Posted: 11 May 2021 09:15 PM PDT Will someone help me please. I've been having issues with my iPhone 12 Pro (Verizon) for months now. I keep dropping calls (however the icon shows that I have full signal strength on LTE). It also loads webpages at DSL speeds. It's so slow. I keep getting static on phone calls and no so great FaceTime calls even though I have full signal. It also though happens on WiFi as well. DSL speeds for websites on WiFi as well. Even though my wife's phone is blazing fast. My other problem is there are times I go to make a phone call and it goes straight to call failed screen and I'll keep trying and it keeps just saying call failed. I'm really getting irritated cause I've called Apple and Verizon to no avail. Ive spent countless hours on the phone troubleshooting and nothing has worked. There is nothing they can do for me. Verizon said signal looks good and everything on their end is good. LTE Speedtest 2mbps LTE Speedtest Wife's iPhone 50mbps WiFi Speedtest 100 Mbps Here are the troubleshooting steps I have tried: -Restart the phone -Reset Network Settings -Factory Reset -Factory Software Reinstall -Airplane Mode toggle -New Sim -New iPhone 12 they sent me -new router -new modem Please please anything will be appreciated. I currently have 2,559 photos, very few of which are videos, and yet my storage is extremely low (127.1 GB out of 128 GB used) and says photos are using 62 GB. Sometimes it will switch and say photos are only 19 GB, but that messages are also 19 GB (again, no way that is the case). Any insight to get my storage back normal? [link] [comments]  |

| Weird Wifi problem on new and phone Posted: 11 May 2021 04:52 PM PDT This morning when I woke up my iphone wouldn't connect to the internet, it said it was connected in settings, but the wifi icon didn't display when not in settings, just a continuous rolling wheel next to LTE. I tried to reset but couldn't fix it so decided to just set up the new iphone SE I bought but hadn't installed yet. Once I got the SE setup my apps stopped downloading mid download, then I got the same error as I had on the previous phone this morning. I reset the router, renewed lease, erased network settings on the iphone but nothing has solved the problem. I went to erase all data on the iphone through Icloud but it won't let me b/c no internet connection. Can anyone help with this issue? [link] [comments]  |

He couldnt get back in as he typed it wrong then forgot and had a meltdown. I am an android guy. I installed itunes on my windows PC. Followed all the instructions and it did its thing for about 15 mins and then came up with an error message saying there was an error so back to square one. Did this 3 times. No luck. Posted: 11 May 2021 10:27 AM PDT I have this recurrent issue where I am on a phone call and put in my Airpods only for the Airpods to connect to my Mac instead of the phone and I can't always get them to reconnect to the phone. Or I'm on a call and walk into the room with the laptop, and the AirPods drop the call and connect to dead silence on my computer instead. All I want is for the AirPods to not "switch" from the phone to the laptop. I'd actually be okay with them never connecting to the laptop, since it's so rare to need them with the laptop that manually setting them up each time would be a lot better than this status quo of not being able to take phone calls in the same room as my computer. So, um, how do I get my Mac permanently disconnected from the AirPods? Is there any way to disable (permanently) the iCloud pairing functionality and just use them as regular Bluetooth headphones?
