| Posted: 14 May 2021 09:26 PM PDT All the messages on my mom's devices just disappeared earlier today. Five years' worth, just went poof, gone. She says everything was there before dinner, she then went out to pick up groceries, and while she was waiting in her car for them to be delivered, everything was just gone. Her iPhone 8 and iPad mini are running iOS 14.4.2. Restoring the phone to an iCloud backup from yesterday didn't work. The devices are set to use iCloud and to not delete anything. Please advise. | Posted: 14 May 2021 08:58 PM PDT Hello everyone, I've been wondering if anyone has successfully replaced the hinge tension mechanism on their 2011 21.5" iMac. I have seen some pictures and videos of people replacing the plastic nuts with some steel plating. Has anyone managed to do this with their 2011 21.5 iMac? The last time I had mine totally disassembled, the hinge mechanism appeared to be different then 27" model. The problem i'm having is if I hit into my desk, the screen will tilt down a little bit. The hinge tension isn't really bad but I would love to find a way to make it really nice and tight. [link] [comments]  |

My mom had an Iphone 11(very expensive here) and the other day she was robbed and beaten for her phone. His Iphone was stolen so when she reached home we tried using Find My Iphone but the device was offline so we put it in lost mode and activated the sound alarm. Today while I was sleeping she got a call from a number based in USA and tought it was a scam so she woke me up and I talked to the man who supposedly was from Latinamerican Apple Support and said that the device was recovered so I needed to fill a support ticket in a page to recover my phone. I was blinded by something I read that stated the government recovered 6000 stolen phones. I entered to a webpage along the lines of apple.createsupport.com that was given to me by the man calling I immediatly asked him how could I know the page was not a scam and he told me the page got the lock that meant certificate. I put my appleid as well as my password but the screen with the SMS send to my moms line didnt appear and after that the manhang up. So I realized what I had done and entered to the real apple page that required me to put the SMS code sent to my moms other cellphone with the new sim card but the same number and I finally changed the password. I change every account with the same mail and password. My question is could they unlock the phone with only appleid and password but without SMS code? Keep in mind the phone was FaceID locked so even if they removed the lost phone screen could they bypass the lock screen? I dont mind if the phone is restored to fabric but I dont want the info stolen. I feel so STUPID and angry. Thank you for reading and the eventual answer. [link] [comments]  |

I am using a USB stick with a fresh version of the Catalina installer on it. When I turn on the computer while holding alt, it gives me the option to install Catalina. Which would be the best to get next? I don't want to pay for a brand new one, happy to just buy a second hand one and pay max £200-250 ($280-$350) so would would be best value for money? So like 2-3 weeks back calls and facetimes stopped working on my phone. I didn't know why and just didn't do anything about it. then last week the camera on my phone started glitching. when I hold the camera still, at first it will like twirl and spin and be all weird. then it will go normal. When I call someone it makes the brbrbrbrbrbbrbrbrb sound out loud like on speaker when It is not on speaker and then when someone picks up they can't hear me and I can't hear them. I also can't put it in speaker mode. It just doesn't let me click the speaker button. When I facetime everything is normal until I answer or someone else answers, when that happens the phone just hangs up. Not sure what to do. | 2019 MacBook Air screen sometimes works Posted: 14 May 2021 05:55 PM PDT Hi, I bought this from Costco in December 2019 and it was working fine until recently. Sometimes when I boot up my laptop, the keyboard lights up but the screen stays dim and doesn't display anything. I've been on call with Apple support multiple times but we never reached any kind of conclusion :( so I'll be going to Best Buy soon to hear their thoughts too but just curious if anyone else had this issue or knows how to fix it. I'm under Costco's warranty until December 2021 so am just trying to find a solution before then. Thanks! — P.S. idk if this matters, but I usually leave my laptop on my desk, next to a window and have noticed that when it's colder than usual in our house (maybe low to mid 60F's?), it's more prone to act this way. Posted: 14 May 2021 05:07 PM PDT So I'm looking to upgrade from my MB Pro 2015 128gb which has soldiered on for the last 6 years but the time has come to upgrade. I'd be able to sell it for around £450, so I'm unsure whether to go straight for the 13" MB Pro/Air M1 with 512GB/8GB Or Go for the cheaper option of getting a great condition 15" MB Pro 2018 i7 - 512GB/16GB for £300 less than the M1 above^ In an ideal world I'd have liked the 16" M1 but that's just too costly, and although I do like the 13" I'm wondering if I'd like a bigger screen, still undecided.

Posted: 14 May 2021 04:12 PM PDT 've been trying to get my monitor to work with my MacBook Pro 2017 for a while, but for some reason it only works in safe mode. I've tried resetting the SMC and the NVRAM. After I do that, it works fine and then I restart or shut down the computer and open it again and it suddenly stops working again. It's weird because last year the monitor used to work just fine, so I don't know what went wrong. Any advice? [link] [comments]  |
