Posted: 02 May 2021 12:20 PM PDT I told my girlfriend about a gadget I purchased online today when she was asleep. We have seperate credit cards, are not married or any legal connection. She did not search the product, or type anything about it on her phone. I did not text her about it. She got an Instagram ad 30 minutes later to a similar gadget that solves the exact problem that I talked about (remote controlled light-switch), her interests are not related to this in any way. We are connected to the same Wi-Fi could this be it? [link] [comments] |

Someone added their device on my Apple account and added security questions Posted: 02 May 2021 09:37 PM PDT I can't change the questions or remove their device. Please help! [link] [comments] |
I am continuously getting hacked Posted: 02 May 2021 09:31 PM PDT a few days ago i received this email
i don't use any apple devices any more but I still have it (I used to have ipad) and then I got this email after it
that happened twice before I lucky guessed my security questions and login in and updating everything. they also changed my apple id but I was able to get back in using my backup email, so does that happened to anyone else? how does this even happen in the first place? edit: updating the title to "I got hacked twice" [link] [comments] |

Number won’t stop texting me after I blocked it. Posted: 02 May 2021 03:55 PM PDT I got a random number texting me and I've blocked it already and deleted the messages but they still can text me. I have an IPhone X (Product Red edition if that changes anything). [link] [comments] |
Password Managers for iOS/macOS. Is there a better one? Posted: 02 May 2021 05:13 PM PDT I've had my own method of creating passwords for a while. It's pretty good but I have too many accounts now and the only way to keep unique passwords for each one is by using a password manager. I know people who use Last Pass and 1Password and they all pretty much say the same thing about the one they use: "meh, it works, but it's the only one I've ever tried." Is there a better one for the Apple ecosystem? There are many apps and sites I use on both iOS and macOS as well as many sites that I use where I'd need to login from computers I don't own and wouldn't have the ability to install anything in advance. Is there any way to bypass the iCloud Account creation limit Apple puts on devices? Posted: 02 May 2021 06:45 PM PDT I think you can only make around three accounts per device before Apple disallows you from making more. But for a personal project I would like to make around 6 more. Since I updated to 14.5 apps have been freezing Posted: 02 May 2021 04:03 PM PDT Since I updated my phone to 14.5 about late week several apps will randomly freeze and I have to close the app to fix it. It's happened to Snapchat, Instagram, Reddit and YouTube so far. Is this just me and is there a fix? [link] [comments] |
Your passwords have been involved in a data breach, we recommend you change them. All 200 of them. Posted: 02 May 2021 03:59 PM PDT I assume I'm not the only one getting this message after upgrading to a new phone? Does anyone have some background on this new feature? I don't really have the time to update all of these passwords if it's not super critical. [link] [comments] |
Trying to Connect One Apple Laptop to Another and Failing Posted: 02 May 2021 05:58 PM PDT Hi. I recently bought a MacBook (Macbook Air M1 Apple Silicon) and am trying to connect it to my older MacBook (Macbook Pro early 2011 model) so that I can use the older macbook's screen as a second monitor. I looked up how to do this and bought a thunderbolt (MacBook air) to Mini DisplayPort. My understanding is after these two are connected, I should be able to use my MacBook pro's screen as a monitor, however that's not happening. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks. [link] [comments] |

difference between two products that seem identical to me? Posted: 02 May 2021 05:18 PM PDT there's the earpods with 3.5 mm headphone plug in the apple store online, but there's a price difference between the 'normal' one and the one in the 'business' part. what's the difference between the two, if any? Posted: 02 May 2021 08:53 PM PDT I'm trying to research it online but there wasn't any luck except one that's quite a long time ago. So I want to purchase apps in a different region (Taiwan). Now the issue issn't exactly an Apple ID, but more if I can make any purchases in it? I use an American debit but of course the address is in Taiwan. I was wondering if I can use an American debit to pay or not. I'm assuming no right now, but I'm not sure exactly. It sucks because the app I want to subscribe to is about 21.00 a year but of course ios probably won't let me and I have an android, however, the payment on android is different (need WeChat payment, Alipay, or huabei which of course requires me to have a Chinese bank acc). Posted: 02 May 2021 02:31 PM PDT I share my iCloud account with my brother so we can both use the same credit card and both access the apps we buy. This is great, except when it comes to Find my iPhone - I would prefer he not be able to see where my iPhone is using that feature. But it looks like the only way to prevent him from seeing my location is to turn the feature off completely. Is there a way I can leave Find my iPhone on and block specific devices or other users on my account from seeing it? [link] [comments] |
Printer/scanner works on MacBook (Big Sur, Intel) but not Mac Mini (Big Sur, M1) Posted: 02 May 2021 08:12 PM PDT Hi, I have a Brother DCP-9010CN (purchased around 2013). It has printing and scanning capabilities. It works fine as both a printer and scanner when connected to my MacBook. But on my Mac Mini, it is not recognized as a scanner, and only prints in monochrome. The laptop is a MacBook Pro 2019 with an Intel processor, running Big Sur (11.3). I do not recall any setup required with the printer; I just connected it via USB. The Printer and Scanner window identifies the printer type as "Brother DCP-9010CN CUPS". The mini is a Mac Mini 2020 with an M1 processor, running Big Sur (11.3). After connecting it with USB, the Printer and Scanner window identifies the printer type as "Generic PCL Laser Printer", while it also has a display name of "Brother DCP-9010CN". The Brother support page for this device only has software for download up to macOS (10.15). This page https://support.brother.com/g/b/oscontents.aspx?c=eu_ot&lang=en&ossid=3 lists compatibility info for Big Sur, but it does not list the DCP-9010CN, probably because it is too old. The page also warns that "The driver and software available for the earlier versions of macOS cannot be installed on macOS 11." I am seeking advice on how to get the printer/scanner recognized correctly on the Mac Mini. Since these are running the same operating system I suspect it's an issue with M1. Is there perhaps a trick involving Rosetta that can get it to work? Thanks. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 May 2021 03:34 PM PDT I am a medical student with a Mid-2014 i7 16GB MacBook Pro, and I'm thinking of getting an M1 MacBook Air M1 8GB, but I've read there are issues with the M1 and BlackBoard (my university use it) Have these issues been solved? Is there any solution or any new bug I should be aware of? Thanks :( [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 May 2021 03:26 PM PDT Hi y'all! So I have a MacBook Pro running Catalina 10.15.7. While using Safari, I'm trying to run a website called Canvas and Kaltura through it (academic stuff - recordings and such). It says each time I try to use it, though, that I need to allow third party session cookies. Throughout settings, I've never been able to find these kind of cookies. Am I missing something? Thanks y'all! [link] [comments] |

Will "setting up as new device" erase my phone? Posted: 02 May 2021 03:15 PM PDT I wanted to back up my phone, but when I plugged it in to my computer, I was met with this: I don't want to restore it because that's not the same device. But the only other option is to "set up as new device", will choosing that option erase what's already on my phone? Sorry if this is a silly question, I've had bad experiences with losing my data so I'd just rather be safe than sorry! [link] [comments] |
My parent turned off parental controls but I still can’t erase history Posted: 02 May 2021 02:45 PM PDT It turns up grey and I've asked my dad about it before and he's tried to fix it but he doesn't know how [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 May 2021 06:27 PM PDT Hi so my AirPod pros are just not working. I had them plugged in for an hour straight, no luck. I tried to reset them, no luck. There isn't even a light in the case, it is just blacked out. It's not an issue with the charger either. Any ideas ? [link] [comments] |
