PSA: About 45 Days Before Late 2013 15-inch MacBook Pro Hits Obsolete - End Of Battery Replacements Posted: 07 May 2021 06:21 AM PDT If you want one last battery swap, now is the time. Mine is dipping into the low 80%'s and I'm going to do it. The sad thing is it's still fully supported by Big Sur, and this machine won't run properly without the battery functioning. Which means it will get security support for the next two macOS versions too. Many of us, myself included, had hoped Apple would have extended the battery lifecycle to 10 years, even if other parts aren't supported. Particularly since they won't let anyone else officially make replacements, despite many vendors willing. All Apple really has done is honor the California/Turkey/France seven year period in other regions. If they cared about e-waste they'd at least allow the machine to work at full speed with the battery deactivated/removed. You have until June 30, 2021 to be guaranteed to get it.
