M1 Macbook Horrible WIFI Connection? Posted: 30 Apr 2021 05:10 PM PDT I just bought an M1 Macbook Air and the internet connection is a joke. It will take 5 minutes to load a webpage or it just wont load at all, all of my other devices in the house connect just fine. I called Apple and they denied the problem despite their being numerous other people with the same issue when doing a google search. Does anyone have a solution to this? And is Apple doing anything to solve this problem? [link] [comments]
I only have my Macbook Air M1 for two months and its already sitting at 90%, what am I doing wrong? Posted: 30 Apr 2021 08:07 AM PDT Hi, so basically the title. I track my battery capacity with coconut battery the max capacity jumped down to 4000 mAh, how can I avoid it going down further in the future? [link] [comments]
Could an active HDMI to VGA adapter fry my MBA and/or adapter? Posted: 30 Apr 2021 09:47 PM PDT I have the official USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter. Wanted to hook up a monitor. I also have a 3rd party HDMI to VGA adapter as well that I figured I could use. My HDMI ports are being used by my Windows PC and I only have VGA ports available on the monitors. I'd like to keep it this way if possible. Surprise surprise, no picture when I plugged it in. VGA Adapter has a Micro USB port that I can plug into the USB-A port of the USB-C adapter to render it active. Plugged it in, and I got picture. Happy it works, but somewhat worried that this isn't meant to be used this way. If I'm also passing my power adapter via this AV adapter to charge, would there be any concern? I have an M1 MBA so I'm pretty limited on ports as it is. I feel like there shouldn't be a concern, since you can charge your phone or do whatever peripheral power actions you want to do with that USB-A port, but what's keeping me unsure is the part where it all seems as if it's part of the same circuit, or something. I apologize if this sounds confusing - I'm pretty ignorant to how this adapter works and how the power pass-thru functions through the same port sending and receiving data. I used to have an XPS for work and the one thing the USB-C adapter they gave me with the laptop was missing was power - you had do use a port by itself for charging. Anyway, any advice is helpful. Thanks. [link] [comments]
Dent on Macbook. Recommended Cases? Posted: 30 Apr 2021 07:01 PM PDT Found a dent behind the screen of my new M1 13 inch laptop. I baby care all of my things and this really put me to think that maybe I am not doing it well enough. On the market for a new case, although I would prefer a sleeve. Any opinions on sleeves? Or any brand you would recommend? I am always afraid of "amazon favorite" items; thats why I am here looking for reddit's advice... [link] [comments]
Need help with bricked Macbooks M1 please! :( Posted: 30 Apr 2021 04:48 PM PDT Hey people, sorry i know that this is kinda a old topic but i will be a new macbook air m1 user so i need some help :/. Okay so i want to buy a Macbook Air M1 but after seen all the videos about these macbooks m1 being bricked for using USB C hubs i really got scared. Because if i buy the MBA M1 i will probably use a USB C hub but my concern is: Will i be protected with this issue after the macOS 11.2.2 update when the said that this update was made FOR this issue? Is it completely fixed? If i buy the MBA M1 will i get it with the latest update? Thanks in advance !!!! [link] [comments]
how is TEAMS performance on the m1 macbooks? Posted: 30 Apr 2021 07:10 PM PDT i have the 16 inch i7 16/512 mbp from work, java/k8s developer. it rocks. everything pretty much run smoothly except teams. 1v1 video, fans starts blasting, super noisy. group video(5+), fans blasting, constantly have to mute myself due to noise. bigger group(10+), same deal, worst is i dont see anybody's video... even worse, i start to lag doing other things while the video call is on... does teams perform better on m1? Posted: 30 Apr 2021 09:13 PM PDT This is meant to have more nits than my MacBook Pro 2015, and its definitely dimmer, is there an app I can download? Not saying the whole range is like this but maybe I just got a bad laptop? Could it be possible to take it in to Apple? I've tried screen calibrate and there are only an option to adjust the screen white point, also whilst I'm typing this the screen brightness seems to be going up and down tiny amounts [link] [comments]
I have to work on my bed due to illness - how can I keep my MacBook cool? Posted: 30 Apr 2021 02:46 PM PDT I have an illness that causes my heartrate to spike over 100bpm when I stand up and it is also elevated when I sit at a 90 degree angle. So, thankfully, I am able to work at home lying on my stomach in bed. My MacBook is a 2012 I am desperately trying to hang onto until Nov when the resigned M1 comes out. Last summer it developed an overheating problem, but it was pretty under control just by putting it on a book once the hot weather went away. Now that it's back to being hot it's just as bad or worse and the book doesn't seem to be helping. What should I do? I just used it 5 min, it hung, I turned it off and just have to wait and see how long I can get it to stay on for, meanwhile I'm on deadline. Signed, Cruel Summer [link] [comments]
Macbook Air M1 - Disable trackpad acceleration Posted: 30 Apr 2021 03:40 PM PDT I just got the MBA today. I'm a long time Windows user (switching from XPS 13). The trackpad feels weird to me. After some playing around I realized it is because it has acceleration, as opposed to the linear tracking on the XPS 13. Is there some way to disable it? Couldn't find a good answer through Google. Changing from windows, is this worth it ? Posted: 30 Apr 2021 02:27 PM PDT So i just bought a MSI GF 65 THIN with i7 9750h, gtx 1660 ti and 8gb of ram but ive been sort of amused with m1 and all the talks on youtube. i do own an iphone which was a pleasant switch from android. im pretty happy with msi, great power and meh built quality and awful (2h) battery preformance. so my question is how does apple macbook air m1 7 core gpu compares to my system and is it worth trading off ? lets set aside gaming, how about then ? if i can run cs go well im pretty good to go so is macbook air still less powerful than a i7 + gtx 1660 ti ? cause then i'd think its not worth it [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Apr 2021 09:14 AM PDT Hello fellow MacBook enthusiasts! I have a 16" MBP I bought in Dec 2019 with 8-core 2.3 GHz i9 CPU, 16 GB of Ram and Radeon 5500M 4GB GPU. About 2 weeks ago I dropped the laptop from <2 ft while using it. I have a Tech21 protective case on it (which supposedly help reduce the shock to the machine). The MacBook continued to work just fine but the hinge feels a bit looser. Note that I have dropped it from similar height 2-3 times in the past 1.5 years (it was sitting on a bed and I tripped on the USB-C cable charging it, dragging the laptop with it) but it wasn't while it was in use. There seemed to have no issue following each drop. I have dropped many Lenovo ThinkPad from desk height (3 ft++) multiple times too and it seems to still work OK. Fast forward to yesterday, I just got my 4K Dell monitor back (was relocating across the country so I was without it for a while). I also had just updated the macOS to 11.3. Now, when I use both monitors (have both my macbook's display and dell on), the mouse cursor is a bit laggy when it is on the Dell monitor but not on the primary Macbook monitor. I have used two monitors in the past and do not recall it being laggy previously. Initially, I thought that this was due to the monitor refresh setting, however, if I close the 'clam' and use the Dell monitor as my only display, there is no more lag. In Boot Camp, there is no lag issue - my mouse cursor works great regardless of which display I am using. I ran the Apple Diagnostic test which said there is zero issue as well. At this point, I am ruling out hardware issues and believe it may have something to do with Big Sur 11.3 / HDCP stuff? Could the drop have resulted in some damage to the GPU or the cooling system? I have AppleCare Plus which covers accidental damage ($299 per 'instance') but I'm not sure what they will do here. There is no cosmetic damage or dent to the machine. Here are some other benchmark scores (I have never done one before so not sure what the benchmark is like). Unigine Valley 89.5 FPS and 3743 score - medium quality - 1536x960. No AA. No Tessellation Unigine Heaven 4.0 50.8 FPS and 1279 score - ultra quality - 1536x960. 8x AA. Tessellation: Extreme GPU Temp was running around 70-80 C during both benchmarks. Thank you so much in advance for any insight [link] [comments]
If I had a Macbook Air with a 4GB i5 CPU, can I replace the logic board with 8GB i7? Posted: 30 Apr 2021 02:18 AM PDT My mid-2013 13" Macbook Air got water damage and needs a new logic board. Rather than pay Apple $800, I figure I should try to repair it myself for $200. My Macbook Air was a 4GB i5, could I buy a mid-2013 8GB i7, or does it need to be the exact same model logic board?
