    Close lid and true tone is off

    I want to use my monitor with the lid of my MacBook closed, but when I do that, true tone and the orange-ishness on my monitor goes away. Is it possible where it won't go away when I close the Macbook lid and just use my monitor?

    Just bought an M1 Mac. If I use the technical preview of Parallels, is it easy to go back to the official branch when M1 support is released officially?

    I have a license for Parallels and I only want to use the technical preview of the app for M1 support then would like to go back to the official releases when the update is out. Is this easy to switch over?

    Big Sur several problems

    Hey, all I have updated my mac to 11.2.3 and since yesterday and my top menu bar with the apple logo, files, edit and so on from different programs is not working. Its there and i click on the icons but they do not respond. This means that I also can't shut down my MacBook air M1 or restart or go to settings from there. Also, when I scan my documents using Chrome from HP web portal, I can right click to save as but the window does not pop up and the download button on chrome is not working too. I can go through safari and scan the doc and open in preview but then the top menu bar is not working so I have to click the share button and text myself the pdf via imessage

    speeding up animations of switching workspaces and going fullscreen?

    Low resolution wallpapers on external display (M1 MacBook Air)

    I have an M1 MacBook Air connected to a 27" 1080p Dell monitor (S2715H). The default wallpapers from the 'Desktop Pictures' files appear in much lower resolution on external monitors than they should. This does not affect other images, text resolution, or video playback — all of these still work as they should in 1080p. It is just the wallpapers that come preinstalled with the computer.

    I realise I could use a different wallpaper, but I really enjoy the dynamic desktop wallpapers.

    I've tried three different HDMI cables with no change in results. I have used the exact same HDMI cable and monitor with my old mid-2012 MacBook Pro and my 2013 Retina MacBook Pro. I use the same cable and Apple adaptor every day with my work computer, a 2017 15" MacBook Pro, without issue.

    I've checked in System Report under 'Graphics/Displays' and the monitors shows up correctly in 1080p.

    I'd really hoped this was an early bug which would be patched in software updates, but it hasn't gone anywhere. I've found one other person with the same problem online, albeit with a Mini not an Air (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252408019)

    Mission control icons very small

    Hello, i cannot find any way to change the size of the windows/apps in the mission control. What happened is that suddenly the size of the windows/apps is smaller than usual. I access mission control with a 3 finger slide gesture to see all the open apps and the icons are very small. Any idea how to change the size? (it was larger before)

    [M1] Any way to turn keyboard backlighting on fast? Maybe with a key combination? Or Fn + Volume or Fn + display brightness?

    Hey guys, I am just thinking if there is a way to set a key combination, where you press Fn + display brightness or Fn + volume to change the keyboard backlighting?

    Or maybe have a key combination to just turn it on XX% and again to just turn it off?

    (MacOS Big Sur) Whenever I use a command (example: command c), it makes a sound, and I can figure out how to make it stop. Does anyone know how to stop this?

    Pock touchbar bug after computer falls asleep

    Hey guys! For context I'm currently running an M1 Macbook Pro. Pock has been amazing except for one bug where the touchbar seems to crash or just disappear every time after my computer falls asleep (this is what I've noticed, not sure if it's exactly the cause but that's my hypothesis. Has this been happening to anyone else, and does anyone know how to remedy this issue so I dont have to re-launch Pock after every time my laptop falls asleep?

    Looking for a good remote control system (VNC)

    Hey all! Title says it all. I need to replace the ecosystem I'm using to remote into some machines; I know TeamViewer is the main contender but I'm trying to avoid them and AnyDesk as they're a bit too costly, but more importantly, I more or less trust their privacy and security.

    I don't beed any bells or whistles outside of what Screen Sharing already does in MacOS, but I need (hence why I don't use just that) to access over the internet (two different physical locations). I've contemplated a VPN but my second location is temporary and I don't really have the hardware to setup and maintain a proper VPN or server.

    For reference, I was using Edovia's Screens and Screens Connect system, which was great as it's pretty much hands-off configuration, but recently it completely broke down and nothing works anymore. Unfortunately the devs are less than helpful about it (VNC works fine, it even works fine with Windows, but on Mac nothing goes).

    I'm open to any comment and/or suggestion.

    Edit: To be clear, I'm aware of other VNC client/servers like TightVNC but setting up to be used outside a local network has always proven unsuccessful and unreliable when I tried.
