[Tutorial] Pro-tip(s) for the new jailbreakers that will save you a ton of time and headaches in the future

    Posted: 01 Mar 2021 08:17 AM PST

If you ever encounter installing an incompatible tweak that puts your device in a 'respring loop' (not to be confused with a bootloop though as sometimes those can be a serious problem to try and fix which could end up requiring you to fully restore the device with iTunes/Finder killing your jailbreak-ability) NEVER EVER reboot the device unless all else fails. If you have OpenSSH enabled on the device it is incredibly simple to connect to the device from a computer or any terminal (NewTerm from another device works also) and kick the device into 'SafeMode' by simply just running these commands over terminal (on macOS)/PuTTy (on Windows):

First, connect to the device over SSH with the command: ssh mobile@<TARGET_DEVICE_IP_HERE>

    Example: ssh mobile@192.168.0.1

    NOTE :

You can login to root if you wish or prefer but the mobile user has privileges to run the killall command as well. It's not always the best practice to login to root unless you know exactly what you are doing or the command(s) about to be run, if you need root privileges I would suggest installing 'sudo' from Cydia or whatever package manager you prefer as it gives you the root privileges for the single command

This will prompt you for a password. The default password is 'alpine' (without the quotes of course). **Change this password ASAP if yours is still set as alpine**

Once connected your terminal user entry should look similar to this:

    iPhoneXS:~ mobile$

Then finally just run this command:

    killall -SEGV SpringBoard

Once the command is run your device should respring into SafeMode!

So now that your device is kicked into 'SafeMode' (you will know it is in SafeMode by a stock black lockscreen and gray wallpaper on SpringBoard accompanied by an alert window saying SpringBoard has crashed and the options of OK/Restart/Help listed at the bottom of that UI alert) just click OK on the UI alert and then you can open up your package manager of choice allowing you to uninstall/remove the problematic and incompatible tweak that caused the crash/respring loop. After you have removed the tweak, go back to your home SpringBoard page and tap anywhere on the status bar or where it says 'Exit' in the top left corner of the screen. You will be kicked out of SafeMode and your usual jailbroken Lockscreen/SpringBoard pages will be functional again.

But if nothing else, just remember to NEVER EVER reboot/hard reset a device that is having problems as again you could send your device into legit bootloop requiring a full iOS upgrade and restore to get it back if it can't be kicked of the loop. A reboot should be your last/worst-case scenario after nothing else has worked. Basic SSH functions are very easy and quick to learn (Google can get you a list of some of the commands and what they do) and will save you a ton of time or headaches in the future from having to RootFS restore the device and starting your jailbreak mods back at square 1.

    [Discussion] Let’s update TweakReviewsDB!

    Posted: 01 Mar 2021 04:07 PM PST

Please guys, let's make an effort to update it as much as we can with the tweaks we have already tested. I just updated a ton! It's way better than relying on a bunch of spreadsheets all over the internet.

If we all update even just 1 tweak the database will be greatly improved!

[Tip] AltDaemon Developer not verified Unc0ver FIX

    Posted: 01 Mar 2021 08:54 AM PST

Here's what I've found works to keep u0 and alt store signed using altdaemon after reboots. This is assuming you already have alt server on your computer.

    Start jailbroken.

    1. Install settrust from packix, this automatically trusts developers when you install a sideloaded app.
    2. Install app sync unified from Karen's repo.
    3. Delete the alt store app and install alt store from computer using alt server again.
    4. Delete the u0 app and sideload it again from the files app sharing to alt store while your device is connected to your computer running alt server.
    5. you can now disable the alt server on your computer and resign your apps using altdaemon without the untrusted developer error and it persists across reboots.

TLDR; Get settrust and appsync unified. Delete your sideloaded apps. Side load them again. Profit.

    [Tip] DO NOT install Multipla!

    Posted: 01 Mar 2021 01:56 AM PST

I have spent ages narrowing down why my iP 12 Pro would crash randomly and take 10 mins per respring.

Multipla causes these issues at the moment. Random crashes and prolongs the respring process hugely.

Please wait for an update before installing.

EDIT - Dev has sent me an updated version of Multipla that I have installed via Filza. Been using this for about an hour now and so far I have had 0 issues. Thanks dev 🔥

[Tutorial] Successfully used futurerestore to update 13.5 to 14.*2* with an iPhone XR, using Mac: steps listed.

    Posted: 01 Mar 2021 07:19 AM PST

    Hello,

This is my first time using Future Restore, here are the steps I used to update a jailbroken Xr from 13.5 to 14.2 because I missed the 14.3 signing window. I'm writing this in case there are other folks in the same position who wanted a quick reference/overview of the process (since I found it overwhelming when I started).

Context: I'm using an iPhone XR, jailbroken with Unc0ver on 13.5, and a Mac for the process. I basically followed this guide

    Steps:

    • Found my blobs from TSSsaver, System Restore, and Blob Saver (apparently I was very careful in November to save up to 14.2, but not afterwards).
    • Copied/downloaded blobs to my computer.
    • Triple checked blobs using verify.shsh.host (making sure generator matched 0x1111111111111111).
    • Note: if you used the System Info tweak to save your blobs and hit "derive new" at any point, you will have a different generator value than default/mine. You can check this by uploading the blob file to verify.shsh.host - it'll state your generator value.
    • Downloaded pinned version of FutureRestore (v192) in the r/Jailbreak Discord (check pins in the #futurerestore-help, first pin)
    • Installed Dimentio and NewTerm on my phone via Cydia to manually set the generator again on my phone. (Unc0ver does this automatically, but I'm paranoid).
    • Opened NewTerm on my phone and typed dimentio 0x1111111111111111> Note: if you have a different generator value, use yours here instead.
    • Downloaded 14.2 IPSW from https://ipsw.me/
    • Put blobs (.shsh file), FutureRestore, and the 14.2 IPSW in the same folder on my desktop
    • Opened terminal on my Mac, then did the following: <drag futurerestore in> -t <drag blob in> --latest-sep --latest-baseband <drag ipsw in>
    • Be mindful to add a space after "-t" before dragging in the files
    • Received an error (couldn't enter recovery mode - but it did end up in recovery mode)
    • Retry same command as above while in recovery mode = success!

Thank you to the kind and patient folks over on the discord!

    Update: and jailbroken!
