[Free Release] FutureRestore GUI: A User-Friendly Interface for MacOS, Windows, and Linux

FutureRestore on MacOS with Light Theme

FutureRestore on MacOS with Dark Theme

    Features

    • Fancy, user-friendly interface for selecting files for FutureRestore. No more huge commands such as:

    /Users/CoocooFroggy/Downloads/futurerestore -d -t /Users/CoocooFroggy/Downloads/353561670934855681_iPhone69\,4_d200ap_18.2-31D37_27325c8258be46e69d9ee57fa9a8fbc28b873df434e5e702a8b27999551138ae.shsh2 -s /Users/CoocooFroggy/Downloads/ManualSEP.IM4P -m /Users/CoocooFroggy/Downloads/BuildManifest.plist -b /Users/CoocooFroggy/Downloads/Manual Baseband.BBFW -d /Users/CoocooFroggy/Downloads/BuildManifest.plist /Users/CoocooFroggy/Downloads/iPhone69\,4\,iPhone20\,0_18.2_31D37_Restore.ipsw
    • Only select BuildManifest once for both SEP and BB.
    • Ensures you don't select incorrect files: The program will ensure you have a working FutureRestore build. You can only select .iPSW files for target firmware, .BBFW files for baseband, etc.
    • Option to connect to GitHub and check if your version of FutureRestore is the latest version.
    • Download FutureRestore will automatically fetch the latest FutureRestore for your operating system, extract it, and select it.
    • Exit Recovery button to run futurerestore --exit recovery
    • Stop FutureRestore to kill the FutureRestore process. Button dynamically changes to "Stop FutureRestore (Unsafe)" while the process is running. Pop-up to confirm killing the process if it's currently running.
    • Automatically launch with Dark or Light mode theme (not supported on Linux).
    • Error parsing such as iBEC, APTicket-APNonce mismatch, unable to place device in recovery mode. Will show a pop-up with some help and a link on where to get help.

    Error Parsing Example

    • Automatically retry FutureRestore only once if error received is "unable to place device in recovery mode."
    • Inline GUI progress bar for downloading SEP, BB, Sending Filesystem, etc.
    • Automatically saves all logs to /[Home]/FutureRestoreGUI/logs. Never worry about accidentally closing terminal, forgetting to paste your terminal to pastebin, etc.
    • Current task text field to simply show what FutureRestore is doing.
    • Log smart autoscroll when scrolled to the bottom.

    Installation

Download from releases. Java 8 or later required for Mac, Windows, and Universal builds. Install Java from the official source.

Mac builds work on MacOS. Windows builds work on Windows. Universal builds work on Mac, Windows, and Linux.

    Usage

    See how to use FutureRestore.

Double click to launch. On Linux, make the .jar executable with chmod -x [Drag FutureRestore GUI.jar]

    1. Download FutureRestore automatically through the Download FutureRestore button, or manually from marijuanARM's fork.
    2. Select your blob (SHSH2) file.
    3. Select your target firmware (iPSW) file.
    4. Choose your desired arguments. See this table for an explanation of arguments.
    5. Baseband and SEP (choose 1 each):
      1. If the latest Baseband and/or SEP firmware is compatible with your target version, select Latest Baseband/Latest SEP.
      2. Choose Manual Baseband/Manual SEP, and select your desired Baseband and SEP (BBFW and IM4P), along with a BuildManifest (.PList).
      3. If your device is Wi-Fi only (no cellular/calling ability), select No Baseband.
    6. Start FutureRestore!
    • You can take your device out of recovery mode with Exit Recovery, which will run [futurerestore] --exit-recovery
    • You may kill the FutureRestore process while it is running, but it is considered unsafe. Do not press the Stop FutureRestore button while the button's text indicates that it is "Unsafe."

    Third-Party Assets

Download FutureRestore using the button included in the GUI, or manually from here. Download target iPSW from iPSW.me or iPSW.dev.

    Troubleshooting

For FutureRestore related issues, refer to #futurerestore-help in the r/jailbreak Discord server.

For GUI related issues, open an issue in the GitHub issues section.

    Special Thanks

Major thanks to u/Tanbeer_191 for restoring the same device like 5 times to test the GUI on Windows, recording his screen, doing the same on Linux, saving logs, dealing with me. Spend so much of his time on testing this. If you ever need FutureRestore help, Tanbeer is your go to guy in the Discord :).

Super thanks to u/F0LkL04e for being moral support and programming problem solving. Also very enthusiastic about getting people to be guinea pigs for the GUI, which helps because I'm socially awkward. Definitely had some great conversations with Folky."Poggers"

And thanks to u/gumandbeef for being the first tester. The log glitched and there was absolutely no output or indication it was working. Poor fellow was scared out of their socks (along with me tbf). Luckily the restore worked out in the end.

Hi all, I have exciting news to share, I've re-wrote Shortmoji from scratch (YES Literally from scratch) it is a huge project so it took a lot of my time to finish but I made it happens :),

I've done that so it loads/runs faster and way more efficiently than before.

    Shortmoji 2 Key Features:

    • Systemwide Synced Views: A very big and useful feature that keeps your views synced e.g if you changed your view into Emojis in the App Store then all of your views in other opened apps will be changed automatically into Emojis view or even when you launched an app.
    • Systemwide Synced Pages: A feature that keeps your pages synced e.g if you changed your Shortcuts into the second page in the App Store then all of the Shortcuts in other opened apps will be changed automatically into the second page or even when you launched an app.
    • Synced Emojis: Now your selected emoji will be shown in the Frequently Used section just like when you select an emoji from the emoji keyboard.
    • Return To Top: A feature that will return to the first page when you select any shortcut or emoji.
    • Blacklisted Apps: A feature that lets you disable Shortmoji in any selected apps.
    • Other small and handy features that you can discover from the settings.
    • Re-wrote it from scratch and now it's way faster and smoother than ever before.

For those who don't know what is Shortmoji, It's a tweak that brings life back to your keyboard by bringing tons of useful functionalities to your keyboard.

Shortmoji comes packed with tons of features and customizations to your Keyboard, Prediction Bar, and Keyboard Dock.

Shortmoji is an all in one tweak for the iOS keyboard, It lets you replace some of the big/broken/paid tweaks such as:

    • Textyle
    • KeyShortcut Pro
    • Translomatic
    • HapticKeys
    • ColorBoard
    • AnywherePredict
    • HomeBarSizer
    • Barmoji
    • DockX
    • and a lot of other small tweaks

And also adds a lot more useful things as well, All of those features are working together flawlessly and seamlessly with no issues at all.

    Shortmoji supports 5 Views:

    • Emojis
    • Shortcuts
    • Emojis + Shortcuts
    • Numbers
    • Custom Texts

Each View has its own settings and configurations, The biggest and the most useful of them is the Shortcuts View which has more than 1800 shortcuts that you can choose from. (including Activator).

    Other Features:

    • Support third-party tweaks (e.g Tranzlo, Copypasta, CopyLog, Wasabi, Translomatic, and Pasithea).
    • Text Styles: Shortmoji comes with great text styles such as sPoNgEbOb and 𝔊𝔬𝔱𝔥𝔦𝔠.
    • Translate: A very big and useful feature that lets you translate anything quickly without the need to leave the current app or tap multiple buttons.
    • Keyboard Shortcuts: (e.g. hold V letter to paste or hold C letter to copy).
    • Home Bar customization (Set width, height.. etc).
    • iPhone X Keyboard Layout for non-notched devices.
    • Support Activator Actions and Filpswitch toggles (requires Activator and Filpswitch to be installed)
    • Ability to change any shortcut icon by choosing over 1600 icons from iOS system icons.
    • Support custom Single, Double-Tap, and Long Press actions for all Shortcuts, Global/Emoji buttons, and Dictation Buttons.
    • Ability to import, export, and share your settings with friends in a very easy way.

I can't list everything but those are some of the features that worth highlighting, It's FREE so you can just install it and give it a try 😉

You can find "Shortmoji 2" in my personal repo

    Price: FREE!

    Repo: miro92.com/repo

    Notes:

    • I've removed the Keyboard background color, text color because Laetus is way better at doing that, but I kept one option which color the keyboard based on app color which requires Laetus to be installed.
    • Trackpad view was also removed (You can use my other tweak Marker which can do a better job than this view)

[Free Release] iRestore 14 or Windows

    Posted: 08 Mar 2021 02:38 PM PST

[Free Release] iRestore 14 or Windows

A couple years ago, iRestore was released that supported futurerestore version 245 from qwertyuiop1379 which gave users the ability to use futurerestore without the need to enter commands. Over time as futurerestore was updated, iRestore wasn't. This caused issues with updating/downgrading iOS (especially with newer firmwares).

iRestore 14 has been updated with a redesigned look and is now using the latest futurerestore!

    https://preview.redd.it/a8dm441stvl61.png?width=709&format=png&auto=webp&s=2bf944f1909b2c71fd90a2a569eae56ef77c7334

It works with with Windows 10 and as low as 7 (maybe lower too!). You need not install anything extra, just click and go.

Instructions and releases can be found here: https://github.com/joshblah555/iRestore

If you have any issues, please make a report.

Please give those whom were involved in the development of futurerestore all the credit for doing an outstanding job!

[Tutorial] Here are my comprehensive guides to futurerestore, I hope they help!

    Posted: 08 Mar 2021 09:53 AM PST

After my recent guides for saving blobs on A12+ (and other devices), a lot of people were saying that a full guide on how to use futurerestore would be helpful, to help them restore to *OS 14.x without errors, and use the blobs they had saved.

    So, here they are:

    https://www.idownloadblog.com/2017/02/22/futurerestore-guide-introduction/

    https://www.idownloadblog.com/2017/02/22/futurerestore-guide-1-generator/

    https://www.idownloadblog.com/2017/02/22/futurerestore-guide-2-use/

The introduction says what futurerestore is, how it works, whether YOU can use it, and WHAT you need before you can use it successfully. I recommend everyone reads it first.

Part 1 shows you how to set a generator on your device in order to successfully use your saved blobs with futurerestore. Nearly everyone needs to read this one too. If you're not sure if you do or not, you do.

Part 2 shows how to use the futurerestore program to restore your device, once you are prepared from the first two articles.

Users with newer devices and users with <14.3 blobs may also want to check out my general advice about using futurerestore in those cases first.

These guides work on Mac, Windows, and Linux, and on iOS, iPadOS, and tvOS (though they focus on Mac + iOS). They should continue to work for restoring future firmwares as released, which is why they are so in-depth. I hope they can be a resource going forward for people to refer to whenever they need to futurerestore their devices.

If there's anything which needs updating in them, or any feedback, let me know.

    Enjoy!

[Help] Please bear with me, I’m new to saving blobs. I used telegram to save blobs for 14.4 and it says, “file is valid” on the bottom. Does that mean I saved a compatible file? Did I do it correctly? I honestly have no idea what I’m doing. I surfed the FAQ and other threads, I’m still confused.

I have been getting purple screen reboots even when the tool said it was successful and now that doesn't happen. I hope this helps someone else struggling to jailbreak their iPad Pro!

[Tutorial][Discussion] The ultimate iPod Touch 7th Generation Jailbreak Setup guide

    Posted: 08 Mar 2021 10:15 PM PST

Many people may not know it but one of the best Apple devices to jailbreak is the iPod Touch 7th Gen due to its low cost, the device using an older A10 processor which is supported with the checkrain jailbreak, it is running the current, most up to date iOS (14 at the time of this post) and much more. The only downside is that this iPod Touch has a really small battery capacity leading to really bad battery life on certain circumstances. It does suck but stick around cause if you are using this device with a jailbreak, I have several tweaks that will make this device a lot more pleasant to use, including having an extended battery life.

If you're running checkrain with the iPod Touch 7th Gen running iOS 14.4 or previous versions, you are good. Currently iOS 14.4.1 is out but I do not think checkrain has support for that OS yet.

Moving on, these are the tweaks I am running on this iPod Touch. Some of it are performance tweaks that will generally extend your battery life much more than with stock iOS 14.

SB OpaqueClarity - This disables some transparency effects and more advanced blur effects but keeps most of the blur throughout the OS. The keyboard transparency is turned off however. This will still increase the typing input and battery life for sure. You may need to respring your device though to fix the white keyboard theme. Dark mode keyboard is fine.

NoLargeTitles - This turns off these bold titles in Settings, Alarms, Messages, Music, Mail and some other stock apps. It is recommended anyways due to its small 4 inch screen size. For the App Store and how to access App Updates, either go to the first page and tap on your account to access the apps needed to be updated or long press the App Store icon to access the context menu, and tap on updates.

AppStore++ - This is an obvious tweak that you can upgrade/downgrade apps at will. Highly recommended for some apps that may crash due to a buggy update.

Safari Plus - Recommended due to more features you can unlock on stock Safari, including the ability to change your user agent (this will make it possible to do PiP on YouTube (website) if you change the Safari mobile agent to something else) and disable the 500 tab limit.

Little12 - This is highly recommended as you can use your iPod Touch (or iPhone for the matter) without ever needing to press the home button again. However, personally my recommend settings for Little12 are this.

For the [Status Bar], use the iPad Status Bar since it is the most compatible with all apps and for that screen size. For [Global settings], turn off everything except for "Home Bar in Cover Sheet" as this should be left on for a visual indicator. For [iPad Settings], all settings should be turned off with nothing checked on. For [Misc Settings,] turn these following on with everything else turned off. "No Gestures While Using Keyboard", "CC Grabber", and "Lock screen shortcuts". After that, this iPod will be a literal budget iPhone X LOL

LASTLY!! This is the one that will extend your iPod Touch battery to an actual decent time. You must at least install THIS tweak to get that extended battery life.

Low Power Modder - As the tweak suggests, this will hook into the iOS system to access Low Power Mode which is only available on the iPhones at the moment. It will underclock the A10 even more but you would hardly notice due to how fast the apps load up in the first place. Remember, that even with this underclock, it STILL runs faster and smoother than the iPhone 6 Plus LOL

These are the settings for Low Power Modder though. Set the custom percentage to either 90% or 100% depending if you want to keep on LPM all the time or let it turn on at that 90% or less. You can put whatever value here. Keep the "Disabling While Charge" on since it will turn off at 80% regardless if the setting is on or not. This is actually due to iOS, not the tweak. Maybe it might be fixed later or so.

Anyways, with all those tweaks installed, your iPod Touch 7th generation should be at a MUCH more tolerable to use. Maybe you didn't buy this device, but a friend gave it to you. Maybe your parents gave this device to you as a present or something. I hope this jailbreak tweak guide will help out the people here with this device, but this can also apply to the iPhone SE 2016 too since they're about the same.
