Posted: 03 Mar 2021 10:30 PM PST Hi everyone, So I had posted here several times about how I got 2 MBA M1s that came with a limp (unbalanced and didn't sit flat.) Well, I just wanted to update everyone and say I finally got a good one! After my second defective unit I decided to write an email to Tim Cook about my bad experience with customer service in Spain (I'd read online this could work.) Less than 24h later I got a call from the Apple Spain Exec in charge of retail. She quickly helped me get my second unit returned and got a new one to me in less than 2 weeks! I've now been using my new MBA for 10 days now and I absolutely love it. To top it off, I got a call from the woman who had been helping me and they're refunding 100€ of my purchase. Very nice of them, I especially appreciate that it's actual cash and not a gift card! Just wanted to share. I think it's important to share the good AND the bad. I'll be sticking with Apple in the future :). [link] [comments]
What else can/should I upgrade? Posted: 03 Mar 2021 11:38 PM PST Hi hi, so I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) 2.5 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5. It was damn slow until I moved everything over to an external drive and upgraded the RAM. I'm curious if there is anything else I can or should upgrade? From what I've read so far it seems replacing the SSD is the next thing to do. You got any input? I use software like:
I love this laptop and would love to keep it running lighting fast and avoid spending $1500+ for as long as I can! Thanks! [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Mar 2021 06:30 AM PST I'm looking for a reliable keyboard to use with my 2020 MBA M1 and have narrowed it down between the Apple Magic keyboard w/num pad, or the Logitech mx3. I'm not really sure which one to go with, or if there are any others that would be recommended instead. Thank you for the help! [link] [comments]

Random bicycle bell dinging sound on Macbook? Came outta nowhere Posted: 03 Mar 2021 03:40 PM PST My macbook (2016) started a little chime notification today (that sounds like a ringing bicycle bell) and won't stop. It is sporadic, every few minutes and sometimes a couple of times in a row. The only thing I have had open is Chrome, and even when quitting Chrome it still does it. I restarted it and even on the user screen before entering my password it did it. Any idea where this could be coming from? It's driving me bonkers. [link] [comments]
Which MacBook M1 specs for me? Posted: 03 Mar 2021 07:14 PM PST Hey I was just wondering which M1 is most appropriate for me. I do light work (Zoom, schoolwork) and the only demanding thing is editing 4K videos (usually no more than 5 minutes in length). I would like to be able to make these videos without lag. For my purposes I was thinking the base model would be sufficient (256G, 8G RAM). Should I consider getting more storage or RAM for my purposes? Thank you for any input! [link] [comments]
2020 M1 Macbook Air vs 2020 M1 Macbook Pro Posted: 03 Mar 2021 02:04 PM PST Hey everyone - recently my 2017 MBP 256MB had extensive liquid damage that required me to replace. Long story short - insurance company is reimbursing me the cost since they couldn't fix; approx. $1250. With apple education prices I'm considering a 2020 M1 Air 512MB ($1149) vs slightly upgrading to a larger storage pro 2020 M1 Pro 512MB ($1399). As far as specs go, I do like my function keys but don't care too much if it has a TouchBar or not. Specs for the most part seem the same. Pro has a little more battery life (2hours), a little brighter screen, and a little better audio. As far as longevity, is it worth more of an investment (~236 including tax) with the MBP 512, or should I take the amount and get the Air 512 and put the extra money toward a warranty? Edit: I will be a resident physician and do mostly research, manuscript writing, test review for work in addition to the usual video streaming. Nothing too complex like photo or video editing. If you feel so inclined, please leave your rationale/logic behind your vote! TIA [link] [comments]
Downloading movies to watch offline? Posted: 03 Mar 2021 05:50 PM PST I want to download some movies to I can watch offline. I don't mind buying the movies or if there's any free alternative, but so far I haven't found any way to download movies just Apple TV and it won't even let me actually download it to my MacBook, getting error code (-3201). I don't know why Apple always makes a bitch to download anything they always want us to stream their bullshit. If anyone got a solution I'll be sooo grateful. P.S. Apple sucks [link] [comments]

Kinda a big deal for me, as streaming my google disk is a great help in my work. Anyone has any advices? [link] [comments]
2020 Base Model Macbook Air M1 Vs 2012 Macbook Pro Maxed Out Posted: 03 Mar 2021 12:34 PM PST I'm having quite a hard time deciding between getting a the new base model of the Macbook Air with the M1 chip or an old refurbished 2012 Macbook Pro with maxed out specs off Ebay. I will be using it for Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe XD, iMovie and (currently) Garage Band, but possibly ProTools in the future. I llike to occasionally throw a music video on YouTube (using imovie and garage band). And I am taking classes in UX design as well, so there is a career possibility there, but currently I'm just dabbling in it to see if I like it. Looking forward to hearing what you guys think : ) Here are the specs... 2012 15" Macbook Pro 2.7 Quad Core i7 Processor 16GB RAM 1TB SSD memory OS2019 - Catalina Has a CD burner Cost = $650 out the door Pros - Cost CD burner Maxed specs Cons OS can't be updated beyond 2019 7 hr battery And for the... 2020 Macbook Air M1 13" M1 chip 8GB RAM 256 GB Memory OS2020 - Big Sur Cost = $999 plus tax, bringing it to $1070 out the door Pros M1 Processor 18 hour battery OS updates for years to come Lighter and more portable Cons Costs $420 more Less memory Less RAM Smaller screen [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Mar 2021 11:12 AM PST I'm looking at upgrading from a 2015 model to 2020 M1 256GB (after trade in, about $50/month for a year). I'm considering buying now or waiting for the annual Back To School promo. Any thoughts? [link] [comments]

Enter a password to unlock the disk macintosh hd - Data - Trying to sell Posted: 03 Mar 2021 07:15 AM PST Hi, i'm trying to sell my Macbook Pro and i've erased my HDD done a full reset and fresh install of Mac OS yet i set up a user account (To show the buyer that the Macbook is fully working when they buy it) However, when I logged into the main screen it pops up saying 'Enter a password to unlock the disk macintosh hd - Data ' I entered the new 12345678 password I set up for the new account and it doesn't work. I entered in my old password and it worked. Obviously I don't want to give the new user my old password so i'm wondering how I delete it from the system and just use the 12345678 password? I tried deleting all keychains from the keychain app then restarted the macbook and it asked for the same password again. How do I fix this so I can sell without any of my old data? Thanks [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Mar 2021 08:05 AM PST I'm looking to start a YouTube channel and I'm not sure which MacBook I should get. I found a great deal for a 2019 MacBook Air and was wondering if I should get that or if I should look into getting a pro? I plan on using this Mac for awhile until I build my gaming pc later this year. Any opinions or recommendations would help. Thank you [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Mar 2021 07:57 AM PST So a while ago someone spilled beer over my macbook air 2015 model. I had it fixed, but since i got it back it keeps randomly shutting down when it is closed for a while. The battery was also replaced because of the water damage. When i do a diagnostic test it says there is something wrong with the battery. I went back to the store and got the battery replaced, but it still says there is something wrong with it, and it also keeps shutting down at random moments. When the macbook starts back up i get a message saying "sleep wake failure". I have looked for solutions for this problem and tried everything i could. Does someone have a work around so my macbook at least won't shut down at random moments anymore? [link] [comments] |
