| I have 12,000 iPhone notes. How do I export them? Posted: 24 Mar 2021 03:58 AM PDT I know this is kind of insane, but I have 12,000 notes -- that's several years worth of personal thoughts, quotes, essays, and stories that I've idly typed up on my phone. I never intended to get a big collection like this, but things slowly added up (plus it's so convenient when you're out and about in public and something strikes you). Obviously the idea of losing them or not being able to access them is pretty daunting. Now, I do have them backed up on iCloud, but that's still pretty precarious because of the way it constantly syncs. It's not a real, solid type of backup (plus obviously you always want multiple kinds of back ups, you can't just rely on 'the cloud'). When a note gets deleted on the device, it gets deleted on iCloud too. And I think I've noticed a few occasions where my Notes app has mistakenly deleted a note which it thought was empty (no preview) but actually had content inside it. Now here's the problem. I can't see that there's any way to actually export these notes. The only option that seems to be available to me is to access each note individually and copy and paste the contents into a document on my PC. Now, believe me, I have tried, and it takes time. Lots of time. It simply doesn't seem realistic. I'm in a bit of a hellish situation where there's years of work that I don't really have easy access to. Please, if anyone knows what to do, I'm kinda pleading on my hands and knees here for any kind of solution. I've Googled this multiple times and all I see are dodgy third party programs advertising themselves. I'm using an iPhone 7 with iOS 14.4.1, if that's relevant. Cheers! [link] [comments]  |

| iPad Pro (12.9-inch) has portion of screen that is unresponsive? Posted: 24 Mar 2021 07:55 PM PDT Hi! I have an iPad Pro (12.9-inch model A1584) that has a really strange issue. I use an Apple pencil with it, and I noticed that after a while of being in-use, it will begin to make phantom lines and become unresponsive as I write. It is one strip down the middle of the screen, about a half an inch wide, and all the way down. When I use a drawing app, you can scribble all over the screen and see the exact area where this unresponsiveness occurs. This happens when using your finger as well, so I know that it's not a problem with the pencil. I've changed the screen protector, as well as my pencil nib. The weird part about it, though, is that it only happens when I have used it for about 20 or so minutes. I'm a student, so I use the iPad for more than 20 minutes pretty often. When I first begin use, no such issue occurs. I really have no idea what's going on with it. It hasn't been dropped, and it hasn't been left in a hot or cold area. If anyone has any insight on what could possibly be happening, I'd be super grateful. P.S. If you do know what's wrong with it, and it is something that I'm going to have to have repaired (as I am pretty sure this is what is going to happen), would you mind throwing me a ballpark idea of how much it will cost? My current wife regularly gets screen shots of text I have sent via IMessenger or emails via google or yahoo or pictures I have saved or taken from someone. They are usually snippets of conversations or taken out of context to make her mad or jealous. I can defend myself by showing her the entire conversation. The person has never tried to mess with my finances via bank or investment apps I have on my phone but continues to harass us by trying to split me and my wife. I have changed all my passwords several times on every single app and Apple ID. Nothing ever works. Any idea of what or how this is happening? Apple says it's impossible. Really just want whoever is watching my phone to not be able to anymore. No idea if they can see this or not. Thanks for any help. [link] [comments]  |
| Inconvenient HomePod audio option during calls Posted: 24 Mar 2021 09:32 PM PDT My brother bought a HomePod mini for his bedroom and now anytime I am on a call I don't have the Speaker option. It's the audio option now which is inconvenient and very annoying. I never paired my phone to his HomePod and now I can't disconnect. Only when I'm not on the shared Wifi does the HomePod option disappear. Is there a way to permanently remove the HomePod from my phone? [link] [comments]  |

Sorry if there's a sub dedicated to people working for Apple that this would be better suited for, I wasn't able to find one. My girlfriend is a seasonal sales associate at Apple whose contract is ending soon. In preparation for this I was assisting her in sending out applications to various places. She ended up getting an interview at Best Buy, which she cancelled the day of. Her reasoning to me was that she "signed a life-long contract" when she started at Apple that prevents her from working anywhere other than the store that sells Apple products. | Why is my iMac using more RAM than before? Posted: 24 Mar 2021 05:37 PM PDT So I bought a 2020 iMac with 8Gb of RAM. I kept an eye on RAM usage and it would usually use close to 7GB. I received a 32Gb RAM kit today and using the same apps I was using before it is now showing 10GB RAM used. I know I have plenty more now so I'm not worried, but I'm curious why it is using more with the same amount of apps opened compared to how much RAM it was using before. Thanks [link] [comments]  |

| Weird Double Typing Issues on MacBook Pro 13-inch! Posted: 24 Mar 2021 03:00 PM PDT Hi folks! I have a MacBook Pro 13-inch, 2016 and I very recently updated to Big Sur. Everything works mostly fine but this typing issue is messing up my remote work! Without hitting backspace so many times, this is what it's like when I type:
In addition, command key has double typing issues as well. For example, when I want to command W to close one tab, it will close two. Copy and paste get doubled, etc. You might notice that double typing issue occurs shortly after typing capitalized letters but not the lower case letters. This is not a bluetooth keyboard issue because it happens on the laptop keyboard as well. It gets really "glitchy" and "sticky". It has nothing to do with the responsiveness of the screen, as I've already tested it and it seems to work fine. For reference, my old Macbook was a 2009, so it was definitely time to upgrade. After a few days of getting things setup, I wanted to get a video project finished up. The footage imported in way faster than it used to, this project will be 2.5 hours in length (old vacation videos as a compilation). I told it to export at the basic recommended settings (faster, 720, high quality). It currently says it will take 18162 hours and doesn't seem to be making any progress at all. I was expecting that with the new iMac's better processor and storage that it would have taken significantly less time than if I had done the export on my old MacBook, not exponentially more time. I leave a folder with some important files on the drive that I don't need local so I leave them on the External drive. So once I set up the new drive, I was unable to add any files to it once it was formatted for a time machine. I tried formatting it a bunch but whenever I set it up for the time machine it always defaults to APFS. Could someone help, is there a setting I'm missing? | iTunes disconnect causing endless issues Posted: 24 Mar 2021 07:39 PM PDT So I went to do an innocent update to 14.4.1 on my new to me iphone 8+ using itunes instead of my phone, and my iphone disconnects mid update. This somehow gets me stuck in restore mode for 4.5 hours of trying every USB port (all 6 of them), 2 different apple sync cords, and 2 other computers including a computer that has a new HDD and has never had iTunes. DFU key combos didn't break the cycle and just went right back into "/restore" icon screens every time I let go of the power key the second time. Extremely frustrated I tried, on my main PC, the suggestion to disconnect all the other USB devices in my computer. This somehow fixed it and unbricked the thing. sigh I have similar issues with my iPad so I only sync it via wifi. Can someone suggest what might be causing the issue? I have updated itunes (on all 3 computers), uninstalled and reinstalled itunes in the magic order. My windows 10 is up to date, there's no USB driver errors in device manager.
