iPhone 8 Plus image persistence Posted: 31 Jan 2021 11:30 PM PST Lately I noticed that icons on the edges of the screen are a little bit visible after the displayed image change. For example Instagram bottom buttons are visible in my solid blue wallpaper. Also the same happens with the reception bars on the status bar. The problem is very subtle and it doesn't make the device unusable or unpleasant to use but I wonder how is that possible since iPhone 8 Plus has an lcd screen and not an amoled and can I fix it permanently? How can I shut down, not restart, an iPhone XS with an unresponsive touch screen?? Posted: 31 Jan 2021 10:25 PM PST I know how to restart the phone, right now it's literally all I can do. My phone is suddenly on the fritz, it just keeps glitching out and calling random people over and over. The only thing I can do is force restart but I don't know how to shut it off to stay off. Still has 90% battery!!! [link] [comments] |
Setting up new iPhone from Google Drive backup Posted: 31 Jan 2021 06:14 PM PST For the past few years I had a google pixel, which I recently lost. I replaced it with an iPhone and I was wondering if it was possible to set it up from my most recent google drive backup of the google pixel. Since the phone was unavailable to the Android to IOS setup when setting up the new iPhone. Any help would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Why can’t I allow untrusted shortcuts? Posted: 31 Jan 2021 05:16 PM PST I want to run a YouTube PiP shortcut that I found here on Reddit, but to do so I have to allow untrusted shortcuts in Settings. However, when I go to check that option in the Settings app, it says "You'll need to run a shortcut once before you can allow untrusted shortcuts." I have run several shortcuts before, so why is it telling me this? Am I missing something? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Anyone experiencing sudden severe battery drainage? (iPhone 11 Pro) Posted: 31 Jan 2021 08:53 PM PST Anyone experiencing sudden severe battery drainage? (iPhone 11 Pro) Recently I've been noticing the my phone , an iPhone 11 Pro that had previously been running iOS 14.3 up until one day ago when I updated, the battery gets drained really fast. I'm talking around 3% every 40 seconds to a minute. This only started happing recently as I had no visible issues until I noticed I kept reaching the 20% warning frequently. I've noticed some apps cause the battery to drain more than others, and some not at all. If I begin to use apps like Instagram or Safari , the battery just starts plummeting. I've done a forced restart , and kept only the app I'm using open in the background. Then I decided to update my phone in hopes that it would fix it but it still has this issue. This didn't start until recently , and I haven't gone out of the house in weeks nor done anything that could damage my phone. Anybody else experiencing this? TL;DR - I'm experiencing sudden and drastic battery drain. Some apps drain more than others, and some don't at all. I've updated and forced restart and it didn't work. I don't keep many apps open in the background. Began happening only recently. [link] [comments] |
Updated to IOS 14.4 on my iPhone 11 and now I’m having issues, can anyone relate/help? Posted: 31 Jan 2021 06:09 PM PST I use my current phone a lot, all of my past iPhones and I've never experienced this. Ever since I updated to the new IOS (2 days ago), due to the security breach, my phone over heats, dies quickly, and takes over 4 hours to charge to full battery. Even typing this post has my phone heating up (I've never had this issue before). Last night I was using it and I started smelling this weird smell, not exactly burning but it wasn't good. Anyone have any suggestions or concerns? I'm thinking I should just get a new one but maybe another update might fix it? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Transfer Music to iPhone w/ Broken Lightning Port Posted: 31 Jan 2021 11:57 AM PST I have an iPhone X running iOS 14.4 and its lightning port is toast. I've been to the apple store and they confirmed that it's not just jammed with gunk and there's nothing they can do for me. I don't seem to have wifi syncing enabled on the phone and can't figure out how to get music and audiobooks onto the phone so that I can transfer them to my apple watch for workouts. Does anyone know how I can work around this? I can make do with wireless charging at the moment if I could find a good workaround for my media. Is the best option otherwise a port replacement? Does anyone know how likely a repair shop is to be successful with that and/or damage the phone some other way? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Jan 2021 04:56 PM PST I seen a method on tiktok where someone cleared the "other" in their storage completely by uploading their data to iCloud and restarting their phone. Unfortunately, I lost the video, and the "other" takes up about 100GB of my space, and I really need to clear it. Does anyone know how to do this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Jan 2021 02:35 PM PST Basically what the title says. Bought this phone used. Restored through DFU to iOS 14.4, but that didn't help. How to fix this? Is there a cheap fix? Saw a youtube video where it said to reconnect the display cable. Would that work? [link] [comments] |
iPhone 7 Battery Draining Very Fast Posted: 31 Jan 2021 01:57 PM PST I own a iPhone 7 whose battery is very annoying. It was fine during the first 3 to 4 years, but then it got worse. It couldn't even last half a day. It would die overnight. I had to replace the battery with other one. After the replacement, same issue. Although it says its maximum capacity is 100% and at its peak performance capability, it drains over 2 to 3 hours 100% to 0%. I've turned off Background App Refresh, location services, I have even switched phones so its not even being used that much, I just keep it charged up to like 70 or 80%, I've no major battery hog apps too, I've been keeping it updated as well. Any solutions? It'd very helpful. [link] [comments] |
iPhone 6s microphone not working when on speaker phone Posted: 31 Jan 2021 11:05 AM PST So my iPhone 6s microphone does not work when I put it on speaker. I can record my voice in voice memos, send voice messages in iMessage and WhatsApp and even call using the earpiece. But when I put it on speaker, no one can hear me anymore. Any suggestions? Can I create a custom verbal reminder on iPhone 7? Posted: 31 Jan 2021 04:49 AM PST Can I create a custom reminder? I'd like to be able to set a custom, vocal reminder at goes off at 3pm and tells me to "take your pills". Or to "do your shopping" at 4pm. Etc. Where it pronounces what I want to remember, and doesn't just make an alarm noise and has the text on the screen. Can anyone tell me how? I have an iPhone 7. [link] [comments] |

Turning off vibrations for speech to text in iMessage Posted: 31 Jan 2021 10:06 AM PST I recently got my dad to upgrade his iPhone 7 to iOS 14. After doing so he asked me why my phone vibrates when I use speech to text in iMessage. I didn't have an answer on how to turn it off and after going through the settings app for a while we couldn't figure it out. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Jan 2021 09:18 AM PST Okay. This is a recent issue and I'll try to include as much pertinent information as possible. iPhone is connected to home WiFi with full signal. Two issues have been happening that I'm trying to rectify. The first is that the internet will be fine for a while, then just slow down or just not work at all. I've had to either turn off WiFi or enable airplane mode for a few moments in order for it to kick up again. But the cycle just starts over (internet is fine until it's not). My iPad and MacBook seem to be free of this issue entirely. Secondly, I go to my bedroom where signal is still full bars, but the internet dies almost entirely. Again, if I bring my iPad or MacBook into the same area, the internet connection is ideal. I know this may just be a interference issue regarding the walls and such, I'm just perplexed by how the signal can be strong but the internet to be poor. I'm using an iPhone XS Max. My router is on the main floor and my room is in the basement. This internet hiccup can happen anywhere in the house. I've looked into a fix but it is informing me that I need to backup and restore my iPhone. I'm hoping to find another solution, if any before I go through with the process. Internet on all other devices, WiFi or Ethernet, seem to be stable. Edit: too wordy [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Jan 2021 08:47 AM PST I moved in my sleep and my phone fell with the top half case side down on the heating pad. I think it was max and 2 hours but im not sure. the second I moved I woke up I immediately moved it. The phone didn't feel hot, more like really warm or mildly hot, not even like actually that hot. Im guessing that's because a phone isnt heavy enough to press down on the heating pad too much if that makes any sense. Like if you press down on a heat pad you feel the heat alot more. Anyways is it possible I damaged my phone. Case is like 1.5 mm of rubber thick so im hoping that defused the tension a bit. It was the top half with the camera btw. I also keep 2 credit cards in the case between the phone and case so hopefully those took some heat. Phone without case just feels a little warm but weirdly enough on the bottom part that wasn't on the pad. I dont wanna like accidentally melt my lithium battery and die? I never got the too hot to use warning sign and phone seems to be running fine. Any signs to watch out for. In semi intense panic attack. Whats the possible damage done? Seems to be working fine so far. WILL IT EXPLODE? Ik i sound crazy but google is a really scary rabbit hole. Do heat pads even get hot enough to do damage? Looks the same as before to me. Edit: Before anyone is mean again it was an accident and Im just a kid and I feel REALLY stupid so please dont rub it in. iPhone 11 up to date in terms of updates. [link] [comments] |
New iphone 12 apps not loading? Posted: 31 Jan 2021 08:39 AM PST Hi folks My wife's new iphone 12 has all the transferred apps stuck on "loading" Things we've already tried: 1. Restarting the phone 2. Logging out and back in from the app store 3. Pausing all apps and restarting one at a time All of our google searches brought us to those three answers which did not work. What else can we try? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Jan 2021 08:23 AM PST I just got my very 1st iphone and trying to connect it to a wifi 6 router. On my note phone it indicated 6 meaning it was connected to the wifi 6 network. But I am not getting the 6 icon on my iphone se 2020. Is that normal or does it mean its not connecting to the wifi 6 side? [link] [comments] |
Iphone 8 plus, ios 14 - data usage Posted: 31 Jan 2021 08:06 AM PST Hello, I'm pretty new to IPhone. I came from android. It's fantastic but some things I can't find. Is there in ios an option to see your data usage? Both WiFi and data? Like in the Imgur picture below. https://imgur.com/a/zxjYTFP The image is just an example Thanks [link] [comments] |
So, my iPhone 12 Pro broke down Posted: 31 Jan 2021 08:03 AM PST The earpiece (both in-call and speaker mode) gives me the sound of a cracked speaker. Anyone else had this problem? Taking it to Apple tomorrow. [link] [comments] |
iPhone X battery dying when it’s charged? Posted: 31 Jan 2021 06:54 AM PST For the lst several weeks my iPhone X has gone from lots of battery left (maybe 50% or 40%) instantly down to 0%. Last night my phone was at 50%-60% battery, then I turned it off before going to sleep, when I tried to turn my phone on in the morning it wouldn't turn on and just gave me the icon saying the battery was dead and I had to plug it in. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? I was hoping to get another year out of this phone before buying a new one. My battery is at 89% capacity from new according to the battery section in settings, so that really shouldn't be too bad. [link] [comments] |
iPhone music library chaos since getting new iTunes Posted: 31 Jan 2021 06:28 AM PST Hi guys, I recently got the Macbook Pro 2020 but have had endless trouble with iTunes and transferring music to my iPhone (7 plus) since then. First of all, I do not use Apple Music or Spotify and I do not want to use them - I have a very large library of music both imported from CDs and downloaded. I want to keep it this way. The first thing I noticed on the new iTunes is that when I plug my iPhone in and click on the phone under the Devices section, I can't actually edit the music once it's on my phone, nor can I create playlists. All I can see is a list of the files on the phone. There's no way of editing those files' names or artworks, etc, and I can't move them around within the phone. See the image I've attached: it's totally different to previous versions of iTunes and has removed all freedom to manage your music library. Is this what all iTunes look like now, or is mine particularly fucked up? The second thing is that when I add music to my phone, the artwork goes mad and is totally randomised. I've attached another photo showing this: for whatever reason, my phone has removed the albums artworks and replaced them with the artwork for the West Ham Way podcast (I like this podcast but it's not the album artwork I want!!!!!). Why does it do this? How can I prevent this? There's no way of actually editing the album artworks once they've been put onto my phone, as per my complaint above, so I'm totally stuck. Every time I add a new album or song onto my iPhone it messes up the artwork even more. Please help I'm desperate! Images: [link] [comments] |
Is it worth to change battery in an iPhone? Posted: 31 Jan 2021 02:30 AM PST My 3-year-old iPhone 7's battery is at 72%, it drains really fast, and also affects performance (it's overheating, Spotify music sometimes lags in Battery Saving Mode, apps exiting). Is it worth to change the battery? Will performance will be noticably better with a new battery? Here where I live it costs cca. $60 to change the battery. I am thinking of switching to 12 mini soon, however I might use this iPhone for another year if a new battery can make a difference in performance too, not just battery life, because I really like the form factor and design of the 7. Any thoughts on this would be highly appriciated. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Can I swap a screen with another phone? Posted: 31 Jan 2021 05:32 AM PST I was given an iPhone 6 16GB and I'm trying to see what's wrong with it. Apparently only the battery is bad (68%) and the rest is fine. I have seen some people around my city selling the same model but with more storage, broken screens and bent housings. I was thinking if I could take the 16GB model's screen and put it in a more storage device. Would it work fine? [link] [comments] |
