How does switching phones work out with regards to Banking and Authentication apps? Posted: 22 Feb 2021 08:49 PM PST Let's suppose you switch from an iPhone 10 to an iPhone 12. What happens to all those banking and authentication apps that have you logged in and such? Does the information transfer over to the new iPhone seamlessly or do you have to re-login and set everything up again in those individual apps? [link] [comments] |
Volume going up by itself when using headphones Posted: 22 Feb 2021 11:07 PM PST I open a video/song and the volume jumps to the roof. I reduce it to the good level, then pause it, continue and it goes to the highest volume again. Is there a problem or is there a setting for this? It's kinda irritating. [link] [comments] |
iPhone 7 won’t allow calls facetimes or voice notes ? Posted: 22 Feb 2021 09:27 PM PST My step dad recently gifted a old iPhone 7 to me. I thought I would give it to my son since he lives part time at his dads. It was bought in usa from at&t when the 7 came out, is paid off and I downloaded ios14 on it. I Hooked it up to cricket for service, but when placing a phone call it won't go thru it rings and the other person picks up then says call failed. Same with FaceTimes, they ring and when the other person answers it never goes thru shows call failed. the voice note option is like greyed out so you can't click on it ... I thought it was a speaker issue but you can play media and hear sound on YouTube and Apple Music just fine... I'm so stumped ... there is no warranty and I've hard reset and factory reset phone twice ... [link] [comments] |
Recently edited note just disappeared? Posted: 22 Feb 2021 08:19 PM PST I'm a writer and often use my notes app to outline chapters. I looked at the note today while I was drafting, and then the second I clicked back to the folder screen it disappeared. I know I didnt delete it because I made changes this morning, but It's no where on my phone and it isnt on the cloud either. I tried to restore my phone from a backup to get it back, and it showed up for a moment before disappearing again. Any ideas on how to get it back? I tried researching it but it wasnt tied to another email account and nothing I do seems to work. Edit: I also checked recently deleted JIC, and it wasnt there either. EDIT: I ended up restoring my phone to the last backup and immediately putting it on airplane mode, then took screenshots before the note disappeared again, so we're all good! Just leaving this here in case it happens to anyone else! [link] [comments] |
Can send/receive iMessages only to some people at some times Posted: 22 Feb 2021 02:15 PM PST 1. iPhone model and iOS version iPhone SE 1st Gen running iOS 14.4 2. Purchase date, country and nature of purchase Purchased last week in the US from a friend. 3. What is the issue, how often does it occur and how to replicate it? Using iMessage is inconsistent. I can receive/send some times/people but not others. At first I was able to receive iMessages from everyone but not send them. Now I can send and receive iMessages from some people but not other. I also notice in group chats where everyone is using iMessage, I only get some of the messages. My phone will sometimes know that the other party has iMessage, sometimes it doesn't. When it does recognize iMessage, sometimes it'll let me send one, at other times it'll try to send one then try sending an SMS text. After that point, I can only send that person SMS text though they definitely have their iMessage on. I've tried this with coworkers and family members and there doesn't seem to be any consistent pattern. 4. What caused the issue? I switched from a more beat up 1st gen SE to this current one. I transferred my info over via holding the phones close to each other. A point where it might have specifically happened was when the new info was being transferred. The transferring phone seems to be stuck at "1 minute remaining" for 15 minutes+ while the receiving phone was already fully functional and exactly like the transferring phone. I ended up just closing out the transfer window on the transferring phone before it completed. 5. What did you try to resolve the issue and what was the result? I reset both phones. I called customer support and by following their instructions I restored the old phone and the new phone via iTunes. I did eventually setup the new phone via backup. When that didn't work I went to a physical store. They tried to help me and said I should restore the phones again and this time don't setup the new phone via backup. I setup the new phone manually rather than from a backup so no data was transferred over. 6. Any other information you think might be useful I tried to resolve the issues by following the steps from customer support online and in store. [link] [comments] |
Need advice re: compromised account Posted: 22 Feb 2021 02:56 PM PST Let me preface this by saying I'm not an iPhone user myself. I'm posting this on behalf of my son who is struggling with his iPhone XR, and Apple can't (won't?) help. A few weeks back, it would appear that his iCloud account has been compromised (strangely, not long after a messy break-up). His Apple account password has been changed, and the only recovery method is a phone number that's unknown to him. His iPhone still works, but naturally no iCloud services work, and he can't create a new AppleID without signing out of the current one. He bought the phone brand new from JB HiFi (and I'm sure we can get proof of ownership), but apple simply fobbed him off and said "contact law enforcement". I appreciate that security exists for a reason, but there must be a way we can prove ownership and have the device reset so we can use a different account. Can someone offer any advice, please? Posted: 22 Feb 2021 05:41 PM PST If you send many texts to different people for work. Does iPhone block you from sending texts because it thinks your spam? My messages are blue but not delivered. Unless I send as text messages and these are to iPhone users. It's only to numbers not in my phone. Can they be blocking me from texting ? [link] [comments] |

imap doesn't support password authentication - HELP Posted: 22 Feb 2021 05:21 PM PST I've been using hotmail on my iPhone X for a couple years. Now it stopped working. I read that on October 13th, 2020, Microsoft was planning to stop supporting username & password authentication for the IMAP and POP3 protocols. Does anyone know how to set up an iPhone X email account using the new Microsoft authentication? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Laser damage to front camera - HELP Posted: 22 Feb 2021 07:18 AM PST I was stupid enough to point a red laser pointer into my front camera and it (believe it or not) is now broken. Does anybody know what kind of damage I've done to it and/or how much I'll have to pay to fix the problem. If anybody has had a similar experience please tell me how you confronted the problem. I have a new iPhone SE btw. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 22 Feb 2021 03:15 PM PST So, I have a Notes folder with passwords and such and all the notes are locked. I normally am able to access them with my fingerprint, but my phone and macbook have stopped giving me the option to unlock them like that and I cannot remember the password. I've tried resetting the password and made sure that the "unlock with fingerprint" setting was on. Is there any way that I can get to my unlocked notes, or should I just start resetting passwords? It's an iphone 7 plus [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Feb 2021 03:13 PM PST Hey guys , So sometimes when i visited the office365 webpage on my iphone , safari prompts to download this file instantly Without me clicking anything when I downloaded it just to see what it was, it was a zero kb data file and virustotal didn't give any results although it was a zero kb file. Also a different visit at different times gives a different number/different format So what could this be and is there anything to do about it? Picture of the problem linked in this post below https://www.reddit.com/r/applehelp/comments/lle2vq/question_about_ios_safari_problem_on_iphone/ [link] [comments] |

Weird battery glitch and random overheating Posted: 22 Feb 2021 05:47 AM PST I just got my iPhone 12 pro about a month ago and throughout it's time I encountered a few times where it was heating up randomly even though the phone was on idle (not to the point where it is too hot to even touch). Just now, after i powered off my phone and powered it back on, I noticed that the battery's percentages went up by 2% and I've checked to make sure that it's health is at 100%. I would like to know if my battery's glitch or even my phone's state in general should be concerning? [link] [comments] |
Subtle difference between town-down gestures Posted: 22 Feb 2021 12:44 PM PST I got my 12 Pro a few months ago and mostly love it, especially the photos. One thing that has vexed me: I can't seem to master the subtle difference between dragging downward with two fingers to bring the Control Center or whatever it's called, and the almost-identical gesture to get the phone to read my screen to me. Any ninjas got advice? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Feb 2021 11:48 AM PST Hi, is anyone using Apple iPhone dock with 12 Pro Max? Or used one before with Plus/ Max models? If so, did it ever bent the lightning pin? Or messed with your charging port on iPhone? And how does it handle big iPhones? And can it utilize 20W charging? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |

Is there any way to record video in landscape while holding the phone vertically? Posted: 22 Feb 2021 10:11 AM PST It's more comfortable to hold vertically but I want landscape orientation in the final video. I can't figure out a way to do this in the camera app. Maybe I need a 3rd party camera app? I have an 11 Pro running version 14.4. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Feb 2021 10:00 AM PST Hey, Like 2 months back I updated my iPhone and since then I haven't been able to update it properly. It's gotten to the point where I deleted everything off my phone (because otherwise I couldn't use the call function or data function, since you need your phone to be updated for that), then tried to update it, yet it still wouldn't do it. Now I'm stuck in the installation screen you get when you set your iPhone up and it shows the error message "unable to activate. An update is required to activate your iPhone.". BUT! I can't update it. I can't access my phone either right now, cause it's constantly stuck in the loop till that error. I tried getting support from Apple but apparently you can't even get support for updating your iPhone when you don't have a warranty anymore. This is nuts to me. I update my phone, it breaks because of that, and I just can't use it anymore. Has anyone ever had something similar? Or does anyone know what I can do to fix this? [link] [comments] |
“Message not delivered” appearing on messages that I know were delivered. Posted: 22 Feb 2021 09:33 AM PST iPhone 12 Pro Max, running latest ios14. I've had the phone for a couple of weeks, and the whole time it's been telling me texts are not being delivered, however they definitely are, as I am receiving replies. Has anyone else had this issue? [link] [comments] |
Skip to next song/previous song buttons are gone in Music app Posted: 22 Feb 2021 09:21 AM PST The skip to next song/previous song buttons have been replaced with the 30 second advance/rewind buttons in the music app. I recently imported all my external music to my iphone using a third party program that allowed me to upload directly upload all my music from an SD card as I don't have enough memory on my computer to put all my music on iTunes. Could this be the problem? I have an iPhone 12 Pro max, running the most recent update. [link] [comments] |
