Thank you to whoever suggested 9.5mm heat shrink tubing, it makes the pencil so much easier to hold. It Looks nice to.

    AirPlay to play heavier games

    Posted: 07 Feb 2021 02:41 AM PST

I've never liked gaming on small screens but I've found a bit of a solution. This weekend I've been plopping my iPad onto my office desk and AirPlaying these games to the TV which sits on that desk, playing with mouse and keyboard:

Civilization 6 Eve Echoes Minecraft with bluetooth controller FTL Through the Ages (or any other board game adaptation) Alien Blackout

They all work pretty well. I wouldn't play Doom or action games with AirPlay as it has that tiny lag and reduced frame rate. But for strategy and slower games it's good.

It's not going to compete with a Playstation or a PC, but compared to what iOS gaming was like even a few years ago... It's come a long way.

I currently don't have any consoles or PC, and this is working great for me. iPad Air 3 with Logitech folio keyboard case and cheap bluetooth mouse.

Best way to handwrite on a kindle book on iPad?

    Posted: 06 Feb 2021 10:34 PM PST

There's a book I want to get that has exercises with blank lines to fill in your answer. Then of course you have to flip to the back to check the answer.

If I get the kindle version of this book and read it on my iPad, will I be able to easily to this? So far I've looked at samples on the Kindle Cloud Reader app for iPad Pro and can't figure out a way to to it. I don't want to type "notes" for each fill-in-the-blank. Is there a better app I can use to access the kindle book, or would I need to get an actual Kindle device? Or other suggestions? I wish I could just get it PDF so I could open it in GoodNotes.

Does anyone not use their iPad?

    Posted: 06 Feb 2021 09:33 PM PST

I know this is the iPad subreddit, and I've owned the iPad Pro and now I have the iPad Air (didn't need that much power). I want to know if there are people whose iPads have been sitting around.

This is what is happening to me. I take all my notes on my Macbook Pro, and I use my iPhone for all my consumption needs (reading books, listening to podcasts, watching shows, messaging friends and reading webtoons). I have a small Wacom tablet for whenever I need to draw for class (very rarely does this happen) or if I need to sign documents.

I love the iPad Air (and Pro), but I feel it's no longer useful in my life. I'm still within the 14 day return period, so I'm debating on returning it. But I'm feeling really indecisive because I'm stressed about exams right now.

Is it fine to not have a tablet? I've become so accustomed to owning a tablet, but I hardly use it anymore. Does anyone else not use their iPad?

I thought this feature was available but I cannot find the settings to turn it on.

    Am I missing something?

Remove audio ‘hiss’ from screen recording - posting to YouTube

    Posted: 07 Feb 2021 01:37 AM PST

Hi - I'm screen recording my iPad to upload some art tutorials to YouTube. I don't have an external mic so I'm just capturing audio through the iPads mic whilst screen recording. There is quite a large hiss.

I've 'detached' the audio in iMovie (all using the iPad) but I can't do anything with it to remove this hiss.

Is there anyway to do this just using the iPad? I don't have a desktop right now.

    Thanks in advance!

Kyoku Flashcards is definitely my favourite digital Flashcard app I have tested. It has pretty much all the features you would expect and is designed around the Apple Pencil. It just got updated with a mac app too which is cool! Highly recommend.

Hello. After updating to ios 14.4, the bottom line of homekit disappeared, if turned on and off, it appears and disappears again. Maybe someone came across?

Question about purchased music on iPad

    Posted: 06 Feb 2021 11:35 PM PST

I have quite a bit of music that I have bought through iTunes over the years. When I log into my phone or Apple TV, I can see all those purchases and stream them from the music app.

I just got a new iPad Pro and the only way I can listen to that music is If I go to the store and manually download it. I don't want to have to use up the space as it's about 40 gigs. I don't subscribe to Apple Music, this is music I have bought from the store.

Is there something different about iPadOS and how it handles music, that I can't just see all my purchases and stream them like I can on my phone and Apple TV?

Do you keep your iPad on charging for whole night when sleeping?

    Posted: 06 Feb 2021 07:27 PM PST

Hey, I recently bought iPad 8th gen, and I'm bit afraid to keep my ipad to charge every night before going to the bed. In the past with other electronic gadgets people don't recommend charging the battery for a long period of time even after it reaches 100%, I don't know how true this is.

So, will the battery health be degraded if I keep my iPad to charging every night before going to bed so my ipad keeps charging for 7-8 hours?

In my Android phone there is this battery mode which allows the charge to reach 100% slowly in specified time interval, like the battery gets charged to 100 In 7 hours if I set the charging time, they do it for battery health I guess.

I wanted to know whether you guys keep your iPad to charge every night before going to bed and only remove it when you wake up. Did it affect the battery health of your iPad?
