iOS Jailbreak [Meta] Frequently Asked Questions and Important Information - Check Here Before Posting

Hello guys, as new jailbreaks are becoming compatible with recent iOS versions, majority of tutorials needs updating so you can stay undetected by jailbreak detection in apps like Snapchat. I've decided to revise and repost my most famous post on how not to get detected by Snapchats Jailbreak Detection.

Verified to be working on the iPhone 6 - iPhone 12 Pro Max running iOS 12.4.x -14.x

Tested On: {Unc0ver}/{Checkra1n}/{Odyssey}

This post is the only detailed post on Reddit that answers your questions and is a in-depth tutorial of all possible outcomes of Snapchat Ban and their fixes!

Thanks to AeonLucid for a great way to bypass Snapchat JB Detection and Opa334 for a great way to disable tweak injection.

This post has 3 Sections: 1) With users who can sign in successfully

2) Users who experience Crashing or a "App needs to be updated" error (SCROLL DOWN)

3) Users who have already been banned (LAST SECTION)

IMPORTANT: DO NOT USE [[WRAITH]]/[[SNAPBREAK]]/[[SNAPCHAT++]]/[[PHANTOM]]. THESE WILL GET YOU BANNED

Recently I've noticed that if you downgrade to a older version of Snapchat and log in, it prompts you with an error. To bypass this you are going to have to disable 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) on your Snapchat account beforehand so you are able to log into your account successfully. You can enable back 2FA as soon as your into your account.

Now let's Proceed:

This Section Applies To The Majority

1) DELETE the Snapchat app

2) Then open [[Filza]] → Search → Root and SEARCH for "Snapchat" and "Picaboo". Wait for 2 minutes as this will search through all identifiers and display them.

3) Then proceed to DELETE EVERY SINGLE FILE that pops up in those two searches. This is Snapchat identifiers on your iPhone. This gets rid of almost all identifiers that is stored and gives it a fresh start. (You don't have to delete the ".png" icons of your theme)

4) Download [[Choicy]] , [[PicaHide]] , [[Appstore++]] from their respected sources.

5) Go to the Appstore → search Snapchat → hold down "Install" → downgrade Snapchat to the highest version that is compatible with PicaHide. Once installed, long press the "Open" button and press "Block Updates".

6) This step is IMPORTANT : Once Snapchat is installed, Go to Settings → General → Background App Refresh → Snapchat → Toggle it OFF. This is if your ever in an unjailbroken state you won't get banned.

7) Now proceed to Settings → Choicy → Applications → Snapchat → Toggle On "Custom Tweak Configuration" → WHITELIST [[PicaHide]] on Snapchat, NOTHING ELSE.

8) Once this is finished, go to [[Apps Manager]] and wipe data for Snapchat.

9) Log in to your Snapchat account worry free!

This Section Applies if you experience crashing or a "Needs to be Updated" Pop up:

• If you tried the tutorial above and it doesn't work This Means that PicaHide Needs to be updated and it's unsupported for the current version of Snapchat. Here is an alternative.

1) Open [[Apps Manager]] and Wipe Snapchat Data

2) Delete Snapchat from iDevice

4) Run [[iCleaner]] and Respring iDevice

5) Reinstall Snapchat to the latest version

6) Once Snapchat is downloaded, Go to Settings → General → Snapchat → Background App Refresh → Toggle it OFF.

7) Go to Settings → [[Choicy]] → Applications → Snapchat → Enable "Disable Tweak Injection"

8) Go to Snapchat and Sign in as per usual, Tweak injection is now blocked in Snapchat. Although your risk of a ban is slightly increased this will help you stay undetected from Snapchat until [[PicaHide]] can be updated for the latest version of Snapchat.

THIS SECTION ONLY APPLIES IF YOU HAVE A BAN:

• If your account is banned, do not open Snapchat until it is lifted as this begins to store identifiers on your iPhone. Wait till the ban is lifted off your account. Then proceed to follow the steps above and then log into Snapchat on your iDevice.

NOTES

• Don't use any other type of Jailbreak detection bypass on Snapchat as this hooks onto Snapchats loaded libraries. Use [[Choicy]] as this isn't a jailbreak bypass but a tweak configurator.

• The reason this is a 95% success rate is because even if all Identifiers are deleted from the file system, one that persists is "Your Device + App Version". This identifier isn't something to be worried about but it is consistent.

• I have personally tested this on 4 Snapchat accounts on different phones with different jailbreaks and iOS versions. I haven't been banned since. All under same factors and everything.

I (and a good amount of users) get random kernel panics when doing simple tasks such as browsing insta or youtube resulting into random reboots. My phone is fresh, no tweaks installed. Writing this post to raise awarness to unc0ver developers (u/sbingner and u/_pwn20wnd) and maybe hope for a check/fix. Congrats for the release, worked first try when installed with altstore

[Discussion] Increase Unc0ver 6.0.0 Jailbreak Success Rate

After Unc0ver 6.0.0 was released, I've attempted jailbreaking a dozen times.

Methods I've tried so far were rebooting, clearing cache using 3rd party tools, and restoring rootFS... To no success, I tried the below steps, and I was able to respring without a kernel panic and launch Cydia.

Turn on Airplane mode, turn off WiFi, and turn off background app refresh (Settings > General > Background App Refresh)
Perform a hardware reset.
When the phone reboots, unlock it and let it sit for a minute.
Open Unc0ver, run the jailbreak.
After Unc0ver prompts a respring, wait for another minute, then respring.

iPhone 12 iOS 14.2, will crash the app at 9/30 or Reboot at 2/30. Has anyone had any success??

Edit: Got it to work after enabling airplane mode and rebooting.

[Tip] How to get AltDaemon working

AltDaemon currently causes untrusted developer on resign.

Solution for now:

Download SetTrust from the Packix repo.
Download Appsync unified from Karens repo. (Optional; it is protection if you accidentally close AltStore from multitasking on the signing).
Delete unc0ver app (or another sideloaded app).
Reinstall unc0ver (or the other sideloaded app) via AltStore from your iCloud files.
Done. AltStore and unc0ver will now be successfully trusted and signed.

**SetTrust automatically trusts an account when a sideloaded app is newly signed thereby solving the untrusted developer glitch.

Repeat this process every 5-6 days as you would usually resign until this is fixed by the AltStore dev.

[Discussion] For A14 IOS 14.3, do not install AOD, it will put you in a boot loop. I also tried to re JB with “load tweaks” off. It gets stuck on the Apple logo.

[Discussion] A iPhone X user moves from Checkra1n to Unc0ver. Here’s what I did and transfer everything in the safest way:

First few things I did:

1) install [[EZTweakList]] and copy the installed packages into Notes (if you want to copy them, press Messages and it shows in a neat list)

2) If you're from Checkra1n, install Filza and go to your PC (or whatever) and transfer your installed stuff that's in the Downloads, Documents, etc; just in case something happens (doubtful but it's never wrong to be worried)

3) when done, reboot it

4) go to unc0ver.dev and well, follow the instructions

5) activate Restore RootFS with Tweak Mode (on) and press Jailbreak

6) after you see Cydia being gone, do the Restore RootFS again just to be 100% clear that it's all gone.

7) after doing that, now you can finally jailbreak it and enable Disable Updates and whatever you want on. Enjoy it all! Thanks to PWN.

[Help]Updating to 14.2 via futurerestore blobs

Alright, let me add my post to the inevitable stack of posts about updating for uncover 6 ;).

I am currently on 13.5 with an iPhone XS (11,2) and have blobs saved via blob saver for 14.1 and 14.2, and 14.4RC(unfortunately didn't get 14.3... ofc the one I need). I have been looking around it does not look like there are clear instructions for the entire process.

From what I know so far, you first should do an iTunes backup, then maybe do a rootfs is what I've heard from some although doesn't look like it's needed, then follow the instructions on futurerestore site, and then you restore your backup on the updated version (and then retail break I'm assuming)?

Here are my questions:

There has been a couple of people/posts saying 14.1 and 14.2 don't work for restoring A11+... Is this true, am I screwed?

If it is possible:

Is there any other instructions I should follow other than the futurerestore site?

After I restore, all I should need to do is restore from backup and jailbreak and I should be good to go?

Is there any specifics for restore for my hardware?

[Help] I’m trying to use Underc0ver v6.0.0 to jailbreak my iPhone 12 Pro Max running in iOS 14.2. However, it always crashes on part “9/30 disabling sandbox” is there something I’m doing wrong?
