    Curious if anyone here has used the Microsoft Arc mouse with their macbook.

    Is the scrolling smooth? Can you use gestures like mission control with it? Your overall thoughts on it?

    M1 Macbooks: black internal screen after waking from sleep

    Around half the time if my M1 Macbook Pro goes to sleep, and I try to wake it, I get a black screen. If you shine a light, you can tell the screen is on: the backlight not turning on. The touchbar and keyboard lights up, but adjusting brightness through touchbar does nothing. If I restart, or close the lid and open it, it works. Hitting escape 2 or 3 times fixes it too.

    Any ideas?

    Big Sur update problem

    I was updating my macbook (128gb) today. Everything was fine until an error came up and said it can't be installed. Now i'm stuck in this installer even if i reboot many times. I found this exact situation online, got to the recovery mode, tried reinstalling big sur. Now, problem is my storage is not enough even if i had 25GB of storage in the beginning. Now it seems like 12GB of it is wasted somehow. And says i need 7 more. I can't make space without getting out of this installer and i need serious help.

    Is there an easier way to function lock a Macbook Air other than literally going into system settings?

    I'm trying to figure out the easiest way to function lock my Macbook. I would like to easily switch between the standard function keys F1-F12 and the Apple functions. However, the only thing I can find is literally going into the system settings and checking an option: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204436

    Is there a shortcut or an easy way to function lock a Macbook?

    I guess in a worst-case scenario, is there an app that can do it?

    MacBook Air second external monitor on Big Sur

    I would like to hook up a second external monitor to my early 2015 MacBook Air. I currently have one DVI monitor connected to the Mini DisplayPort. I used to be able to use a DVI to USB adapter but it stopped working when I upgraded to Big Sur.

    I have read about using an Apple tv and Airplay to use a second external monitor, but the information is with older versions of the OS. Does anybody know if this will work?

    I have upgraded to Big Sur 11.2 and upgraded my DisplayLink drivers to the latest in case I can use a USB port instead.

    Hi folks, I just got my MacBook repaired from apple and I was currently on Mojave” but they had given my back the Mac on Sierra” and when I go to update in App Store Nothing seems to appear, it only gave me the option to upgrade to Sierra 10.12.6 from .5 any information will help :) thanks

    Bluetooth Issues

    I have a JBL 500BT pair of headphones that suddenly started to have several pairing issues and it seems to specific to the macbook, it will take forever after many many tries to finally pair up only to be super choppy and stuttering all over the place. It works fine on my iPhone and both iPads, so it's not the headphones, I tried deactivating bluetooth on all closeby devices, rebooted the Mac and nothing works. It was all perfectly fine until a couple days ago, it would pair automatically as soon as I turned the headphones on and sound quality was great all the time. Final test was pairing an older set of heaphones I have which wasn't even located by the Mac.

    I'm on a patched Mojave copy installed on a late 2011 MBP, could it be something related to it? Maybe doing the latest security update could solve the problem? I'll do the update either way but wanted to know if this is a known issue that could potentially be linked to something else before doing it.

    Macbook constantly overheating after Big Sur update

    I installed Big Sur on my macbook two weeks ago, and ever since my macbook has been overheating all the time. Previously my macbook was running on Mojave, but I had to update it to download a program for work. On activity monitor, Google Chrome seems to be the biggest CPU user, taking up between 50-90% of CPU everytime I check. Google Chrome helper is also always taking a significant portion of my CPU. Has anyone else had this problem and knows how to fix it? I've tried disabling various Chrome extensions, restarting my computer, restarting chrome, and only having one or two tabs open at a time, and I haven't really seen a reduction of this problem. It's gotten to the point where my computer will overheat and the fan will turn on when I have chrome open with legitimately just my email up. Because of this, my computer battery now only lasts 3-4 hours between charges. How can I fix this?

    My macbook air won’t start after it failed to update

    I was updating my macbook 13" to big sur and it didn't work even though I made sure there was more than enough space for an update. Then it wouldn't start. After trying many different things I gave up and tried doing a factory reset but something clearly went wrong because from the instructions I found I was supposed to delete macintosh hd in disc utility so I did that but when I was about to start it anew there was nothing to install mac os on. This is my last cry for help before I pay to have it repaired.

    The little metal hinges broke on my Macbook Pro 15" 2013 keyboard (pictured) - What can I do?

    Hi, is there anything I can do for my beloved MacBook or am I destined to a life without an 'E' key now? Any help would be extremely appreciated since this is my most loved item I own.

    The actual rubber white rubber spring/cap is also loose, but I can fix that with a tiny bit of super glue, the problem is that the two upper metal hinges that hold the key in place are broken (marked in red) - the two lower hinges are still attached (marked in green).

    The actual black detachable "E" key is still intact, but I fear I cannot use it anymore because the hinge broke today? Has anyone been able to fix this?

    USB-C dock suggestions

    Air M1 wouldn’t play Apple TV rented movie. Status bar shows it’s playing but it’s black screen and no sound. Reset didn’t help. Any suggestions?

    Recently upgraded from my old Macbook to a new one. To make it easier, I transferred data and they're running on the same admin accounts, cloud stuff, apple ID, all that. Downloading something that many have told me to be safe but seems a lil sketchy to me (what the app is is unimportant to my problem) so I'm just gonna put it on my old computer first in the unlikely case I get some horrible virus from the installation. This may be a stupid question but I can't find a straight answer and I'm just tryna be safe: this won't put the file on my new computer too right?

    I need help with a MacBook issue

    Hello,

    First off, I would like to thank you all for helping me fix my MacBook Pro Kernel panic issue. I bought a new chip and it worked. While I butchered the soldering (first time user) it actually fixed the problem!!!

    I gave the computer to my son and he used it for about a year. Recently he used the computer on battery power until the battery ran out.

    We charged the computer but now it does not start. If the computer is on battery power it will boot make a clicking sound in the beginning , but no chime. The screen remains black and within about a minute will shut down. However, if the computer is plugged in to the power it will just keep rebooting itself over and over, again no chimes just a clicking sound and nothing else. It will continue doing this until we press down on the off button (for 10 seconds) to completely shut down. If the computer is off and we plug it to the power, it will automatically start going through this reboot loop.

    I checked online and tried all the different combinations of "shift-command-etc...." and other advice, but nothing happened. I also bought a new battery but that did not work.

    I know you all are busy, but if you have the time to give some advice on what might be wrong and what I can do, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Is iFixit's trackpad replacement instructions for early 2015 Macbook Pro valid for mid-2015?

    The instructions are for early-2015 models, but I have a mid-2015 Macbook Pro.

    My trackpad quit physically clicking. Then, all of a sudden, half of the trackpad quit working.

    I'm also considering upgrading the SSD to at least 1 TB. Since I have it open, might as well... right?

    How to sync a video from MacOS to iOS (Macbook to iPhone) and a subtitle file such as .srt and .ass on Big Sur?

    It's easy to sync a video from Macbook to iPhone through TV app on MacOS. But I don't know how to sync both a video and a subtitle file so I can watch a video with subtitle on my iPhone (like what IINA on MacOS, or KMPlayer on Windows can do). On old MacOS, I can do that with iTune and VLC app on both devices. But Big Sur doesn't have iTune, I can't do that anymore.

    What can I do to make that happen?
