Does anybody else have issues with the OLED behaviour on their iPhone 12 Pro or Pro Max models? Posted: 05 Feb 2021 10:04 PM PST Hello! Basically my point of this post is to figure out if this is a widespread issue of the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max models. For my situation, when my brightness is below 100%, the OLEDs will majority of the time go form black to green/greyish tint when interacting with certain elements (eg. scrolling, tapping, interacting with buttons, movement in video. etc.) The blacks will then return after a few seconds when the device is left untouched or video is paused. Ive seen a few threads online detailing issues with their regular 12 models, which I know was addressed by Apple because the symptoms were much more severe, but in some of those threads people comment about iPhone 12 Pro models also experiencing this issue. I contacted apple support asking about it and whether they had a fix, the advisor never mentioned knowledge of the issue and tried to offer repair an or refund, but I didn't want to go that route since I had seen a few people with this issue. He said he was going to create a report and that I should submit feedback to the apple.com/feedback/ website. Example of the issues in video playback on regular 12 model. (Is exactly the same on my 12 Pro.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAWSIf2oVlE&feature=youtu.be Example of a black UI (iPhone 12 Pro next to iPhone XS) iPhone 12 Pro on left, iPhone XS on right iPhone 12 Pro - left | iPhone XS - right Example when device is booting up: (Will be normal black and go to greenish tint from time to time, usually closer to the end of the boot up) The Images make the issue seem more pronounced, even in photos I've taken myself of my own phone. its best to check in a dark environment with the brightness seta bit below full, maybe around 90% The full thread can be found here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251997533 This is where I have gotten the above images from. This details people who have the issues and have had replacements with the same issue. Any insight would be greatly appreciated, and I apologise if you have this issue and never noticed it and now can't unsee it, as I did. :( [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Feb 2021 09:01 PM PST This is probably a really simple fix, but I'm not good with these things. Have an iPhone 7 (Verizon). Just bought a new iPhone SE from Apple. Took sim out of my iPhone 7 and put it in SE. Why can't I see my apps/photos etc.? I can see photos, but they're old. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Is it ok to use non-apple power adapter for airpods? Posted: 05 Feb 2021 05:29 PM PST I ordered some airpods but they only come with the cord. Do I need an apple brand power adapter or can I just use any one? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Feb 2021 10:27 PM PST I need to send my (very new) 16 inch MBP in because it refuses to boot to... literally everything. I have filevault on, and regular time machine backups, but obviously i am not able to access the SSD to erase my data. I have a lot of just general sensitive information like passwords and accounts and other work-related things that I do not want compromised. My question then is 1) is filevault enough for my concerns—could either Apple or a third party who intercepted my computer retrieve the information off it and 2) I've heard apple asks for your login password, can i circumvent the need to share my password if i'm willing to have the drive wiped? It's not that i expect the technicians to misuse or steal my data but 1) the computer has to be shipped two ways and 2) apple doesn't claim responsibility for data during repairs so I want to make sure I cover my bases Thanks for listening! This computer is very new and i'm very stressed about this process and being without it for so long [link] [comments] |
What is "localAuthenticationRemoteService" ? Posted: 05 Feb 2021 10:22 PM PST While using my laptop (2018 MacBook Air Retina running Catalina), the fans (or whatever) started going crazy. I figured it was photoshop and a mix of websites I was using like Spotify, but when I took a look at Activity Monitor it showed "localAuthenticationRemoteService" in red, running at 70%+ CPU. I tried to Google it, but the only stuff that comes up is about remote hacking? I checked my settings, and everything in the Sharing folder (screen sharing, remote login, etc.) are off. I was able to force quit it from Activity Monitor and my laptop has been quiet with no issues since. What is this? Is it something I should be concerned about? Thanks [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Feb 2021 09:56 PM PST I opened my laptop after having it closed for 5+ hours, and when I did, photobooth was open and the green light was on. It was frozen for a few seconds on my face from hours earlier -- I noticed because of the light of day. I definitely didn't have it open--I don't use photobooth ever and dont have it in my dock. Obviously this was slightly terrifying. I immediately put duct tape over my camera and ran malwarebytes (nothing). Is there anything else I can do to make myself feel safe? Has anyone else ever had this or something similar happen? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Feb 2021 09:54 PM PST If anyone knows the fix for this I'll cry and praise you as my god for the rest of my life. I have had this computer (in the title) for almost a year, and alt+tab or option+tab has always worked on my macOS (Catalina 10.15.7) (If it matters at all I also have boot camp windows 10 on here) to switch between tabs. About a couple days ago it stopped working and I don't know why, and it's so frustrating I want to throw my computer at the wall. Please please please does anyone know how to fix this or why it would just stop working out of the blue? I've never had it stop working before. TLDR; 2013 MacBook Pro running macOS Catalina alt+tab function stopped working out of the blue, need fix ASAP [link] [comments] |
Do you know of a Target Display Mode alternative in 2021? Posted: 05 Feb 2021 09:48 PM PST I want to use my late 2015 iMac as a second monitor for my 2019 iMac. I know that Apple discontinued Target Display Mode support for the retina iMacs. Thanks for any help given! [link] [comments] |
Is there any way to retrieve photos and videos that have been deleted during restoration? Posted: 05 Feb 2021 09:15 PM PST So, before I explain, I am NOT expecting any way to do this, but if there is then I want to know lol. So about 8 years ago, my iPad 2 had to be iTunes restored because of certain issues. In doing this, I lost everything that I had on there, videos, photos, apps, all of it. Now, if there is any way to get those videos back 8 years later, it would be a miracle! I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to issues like this so I was just wondering if maybe the files are still somewhere there on the iPad and if there is any possible way to retrieve them. BTW I never backed up anything so restoring a backup is not even an option :/ [link] [comments] |
iPad Says It's Full, But It's Not Posted: 05 Feb 2021 09:09 PM PST I have an iPad Mini 4 that I use for my two young kids when we travel. It's a 64 GB model and it's using 42.9 GB, but it won't let me download a movie to the iPad. I've deleted all sorts of things and restarted it, updated it, etc. Anyone ever run into this problem and know how to fix it? [link] [comments] |
Bluetooth Keyboard could not connect to Mac Posted: 05 Feb 2021 08:59 PM PST I am trying to connect a Bluetooth keyboard to my 2019 MacBook Pro running macOS Big Sur 11.2, but it either responds with "Connection failed" or "Could not connect to t" The keyboard is on and in pairing mode. It is not paired to any other devices. Screenshots. [link] [comments] |
Hey Siri doesn't work when any media is playing Posted: 05 Feb 2021 04:54 PM PST iPhone 7, iOS 14.4 Hey siry doesn't hear me at all when playing any kind of media out of the phone's speaker. It occasionally works when volume is down to 1. anymore than that, it doesn't work. It's not a matter of microphones not hearing me as if i connect to a bluetooth speaker it works fine even if it's blasting next to it. Really annoying as I basically only use siri to control music Any idea? thanks [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Feb 2021 08:30 PM PST Anyone have any ideas why my computer won't read my iPad but has no issues with my iPhone? I have windows 10 and an iPad 7. My kids disabled the iPad so I have to connect it to iTunes but the computer does t read that it's plugged in via USB. I have tried multiple ports as well. I can't put it through recovery b/c the computer doesn't read it. Any tips would be helpful. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Feb 2021 08:22 PM PST So I wanna change my App Store region ( to update some of my apps) but then I when I try it says that I must use all the remaining App Store credit. I have 2.18 dollars in my App Store. Is there a way I can change my App Store without doing this? Or is there a way I can spend 2.18 dollars? Or can I forfeit/refund my money? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 05 Feb 2021 07:15 PM PST I bought a iMac from a thrift store. I took it home and plugged it in and found the previous owner did not factory reset it. I tried watching a YouTube video stating it would reset it. Now it's in "safe boot". What's my best bet? [link] [comments] |
Alarm doesn’t go off after unlocking phone Posted: 05 Feb 2021 07:13 PM PST Usually when I go to bed I put an alarm on about for 7 1/2 hours, but now for some reason if I pick up my phone and unlock it during the night the alarm seems to turn off completely. Any ideas what's happening? [link] [comments] |
Brand New iPod Touch won't play anything. Posted: 05 Feb 2021 06:42 PM PST Got the newest generation iPod touch about a month and a half ago directly from Apple, and have not been able to get it to play a single audio file. The files work fine on my older iPods, so I know they aren't corrupted. On the iPod touch, I tap the thing I am trying to play and nothing happens, it's like it isn't even registering that I'm trying to play anything. I tried deleting all the files and re-downloading them a few times but that did nothing. The iPod has never been dropped or anything, it's brand new, so I don't understand why I can't get it to work. Can't use top half of my screen! How to go to iMessage home screen Posted: 05 Feb 2021 05:54 PM PST I cannot touch the top half of my screen. I have a variety of people I'd like to respond to with text, ASAP. How do I open iMessage and show the "imessage home screen". Whenever I open iMessage with Siri it goes to whoever I texted last. Even after a reboot. If i can go the iMessage home screen I should be able to text everyone I need to, so long as they aren't in the most recent three people I've texted. [link] [comments] |
