    maybe the wrong sub, but can anyone tell me how to get the top bar of "finder" back to normal. I did something to it when cleaning and I cant figure it out. thanks

    I want to buy an intel Mac Mini but I don't want to be stuck with Big Sur. Getting mixed answers from Apple support on whether or not downgrade is possible. I'm not shelling out 1300 without knowing for sure I can get an older OS on it. The programs I use for my work are not Big Sur compatible, and waiting for them to fix things is not an option for me

    MacBook Air is sluggish since Big Sur; would a fresh clean install help?

    I've got an old MacBook Air that has served me well and was good as new last year but has been lousy lately. I've tried Onyx, I've tried clearing the PRAM and SMC, I've gotten rid of extra apps, but while my Mac works decently, it's no longer as snappy as it was last year. Safari and Firefox lag, apps take a while to load up, random things set off brief beach balls, etc. I tried some Linux distros for fun from a lousy USB and even that was noticeably snappier.

    I want to know if a clean install would help clean things up in the backend? Would I just press CMD+R to go into recovery mode and reinstall macOS or do I need to go through the hoopla of creating a bootable USB drive and all that?

    I have made a Time Machine backup and while I do want my data files restored, I want the system files to be fresh as a baby, even if I have to manually reinstall all the apps. Will a Time Machine restore put back all the backend junk as well?

    Will I have to manually reinstall apps? If not, does that mean Time Machine will restore apps and any junk they may have accumulated as well that may have been causing slowdowns?

    I installed Homebrew and it came with a bunch of tools that I don't even know about like Xcode tools and all that. Will all that stuff be removed as well?

    Does anyone else insist on having Big Sur style icons in their dock?

    Is anybody else just OBSESSED with making sure all the icons are uniform in the dock? Ever since I upgraded to Big Sur, I just really dislike seeing all these random shapes and I have been making new icons for the apps I put in my dock just so they all look the same lol.

    Granted most of the apps are Apple apps or pretty popular ones that already updated their icon, but any ones that weren't really need to be

    Why aren't macOS and iOS Text to Speech the same?

    I rely on text to speech for some documents and books yet I find that iOS TTS is significantly better; less robotic. This is comparing iOS 14.3 to macOS Big Sur (11.1). It's annoying to have to use iOS instead for certain features there Siri isn't consistent.

    I got a referbished MacBook air 2015 recently for school and I just updated it to Mojave and now whenever I click the wifi button up in corner it lags out and stops the wifi and sometimes the wifi just stops itself anything that can fix this?

    The option for keybinds would also be appreciated. I was using MurGaa and it was perfect but then they paywalled it and I'm broke.

    Hi. i was trying to delete some apps on my mac and i noticed after i deleted snap camera (which is for filters) a pop up said "bash wants access to control system events"i clicked don't allow since it was kinda sus. is it a virus?

    internet sharing: cannot connect more than 10 iPads

    Hi,

    I am a teacher and have in possession 30 iPads that I used to connect without any issue with internet sharing. Since I've updated to Big Sur, I cannot connect for than 5 or 10 iPads, randomly. it is so annoying.

    Do you have any idea how to fix this?

    Connecting MBP to iTunes on PC ?

    Can I sync my MacBook to my iTunes that is on my Windows PC? I use this method to sync music and photos to my iPhone but when connecting my MBP to PC it doesn't even recognize it for verification. thanks

    My mac doesnt seem to have recovery mode

    Edit: I want to reinstall macOS but my mac doesn't seem to have recovery mode so when I press command + r it takes to me to reinstall El Capitan instead of big sur. Is there anyway I can get the latest version of recovery mode if that's how it works?

    I need to run ArcGIS Pro on my MacBook Pro for school & I have no clue what’s the best way to run Windows for it.

    ArcGIS Pro can only operate on Windows. The university offers a "Virtual Den" for Mac users so we can use Windows OS and run programs like ArcGIS, but I don't have full access to the network because I'm also an employee through the university hospital (doesn't make any sense to me either).

    My professor says I can either find a PC to work on (which I do have, but I don't want to lug around another laptop) or find a way to run Windows on my Mac. I just need it to for this one program. Can someone help me figure out the most failsafe way I can do this, please?

    Trying to restore backup from 2013-era iMac to a new M1 Mac Mini

    So I've got my external hard drive connected and Time Machine says that it can't open the backup. Migration assistant isn't any help either. Google has turned up nothing that I can use.

    My thought it it's an issue with going from intel to Apple Silicon. Is there something I'm missing?

    Mac OS Big Sur Boot Chime on Late 2013 iMac

    I have a late 2013 iMac running Mac OS 10.15.7, the machine is not supported under Mac OS 11 which is a shame but Apple will support a 2013 POS Macbook Air. Anyway, I went to restart which I probably have not done in a month or so, when it restarted it plays the new startup chime from Big Sur! Any thoughts?

    Can't install macOs

    Hi,

    I dont know if this sub-reddit is suitable for this question , but i'm desperate.

    I deleted my macOS because i was trying to install Yosemite after installed El capitan and i couldn't install it from the MAC os utilities, and because i needed the computer for school i installed windows 10 on mac.

    Now, i have access to other mac and i created a bootable usb with yosemite but after i insert the usb and press Option key, a prohibited sign shows up and i cant install yosemite again from the usb.

    I've created the installer with the createinstallmedia on mac.

    Help for PS4 streamer using SLOBS on a Mac...can’t seem to find an answer anywhere. I’m stressed lol

    HELP twitch streamers who use a ps4, streamlabs, and Mac...

    So I'm currently rocking my PS4, and streaming through streamlabs via remote play off my Mac laptop. I've been struggling to capture the game audio/chat to my stream. I recently found out what I was doing wrong with the game audio, and corrected that. I noticed that the game chat doesn't come through the stream, and all I have is game audio.

    I'm on a budget when it comes to this streaming thing because I'm just trying to see if this is for me. I have Mac laptop from maybe 2012 so it's decent, not great. I'm not the most familiar with macs so a lot of it has been a challenge to learn.

    My current setup is my gaming monitor, the Mac, and turtle beach PS4 wired headset. I've seen a bunch of videos on YT of people capturing game audio/chat with just their headsets with no capture card. All the vids have one thing in common, they're not on Macs. It's all windows pc.

    My question is possible for me to capture the in game chat without a capture card on Mac? I've been looking high and low for days now. I just can't figure it out. Any help would be appreciated.
