Do you need a screen protector? Or a skin? Posted: 16 Jan 2021 05:13 PM PST The tittle says it all. My M1 MacBook Air is supposed to get here around the 26th and I was wondering if people typically get screen protectors (like you do with iPhones and iPad) or not on MacBooks? And do people recommend skins or are they pretty robust? I've never owned a Mac and I couldn't be more excited! [link] [comments]
Posted: 16 Jan 2021 03:29 PM PST Well... title says it all. Bought an MBA two days ago. I was enjoying it so much, what a incredible computer. Then, I plug the power cord on my USB-C hub, everything went black. Can't open it anymore. I've tried everything but it's just plain dead. I've seen different people who had the same problems, it's really a shame and I'm so pissed of. Worst thing if even if I get a replacement, it may be a couple weeks before I can put my hands on it because it look back order everywhere in my region (Quebec, Canada). I would highly recommend to always charge your M1 machine with the cable directly and not through any hub. I've learn it the hard way. [link] [comments]

Safari Autofill not working on MBA Posted: 16 Jan 2021 02:54 PM PST Hi everyone, My 2 week old m1 macbook air does not autofill passwords on safari. Ive checked the settings, tried restarting, and reinstalled the OS. I would appreciate any help on this. Thanks! Edit: [Resolved] In my immense wisdom, I had set safari to 'run with rosetta' when I was messing around with my mac when i first got it. Apparently the autofill function does not work when safari is running with rosetta. So i unchecked it and it works now. Now you know😂 [link] [comments]
Finally solved my Big Sur battery woes! Posted: 16 Jan 2021 10:15 AM PST I previously have posted in this and other subreddits about the horrible battery life I experienced shortly after updating to Big Sur on my 2020 Intel MacBook Air. I experienced horrible battery life at about half of what I should've been experiencing. It's all the fault of one horribly optimized program. Karabiner-Elements. Right after uninstalling Karabiner-Elements and restarting my computer, everything went back to normal. To uninstall it, open Karabiner-Elements and go to the "Misc" tab. Click on the button that says "Remove Karabiner-Elements". Restart the computer and boom, your issue should be solved! [link] [comments]

Posted: 16 Jan 2021 01:18 PM PST Waiting to pull the trigger on a 16GB/512GB M1 Macbook Pro. Bumping the RAM to 16GB adds a week or two to the delivery estimate, though. Wondered if anyone has ordered one of these recently and how long it took to be delivered? Could it be sooner? I live in the UK, where all Apple stores are closed, so no chance of getting one from a shop. Ta. [link] [comments]

How are you liking your Macbook Pro 16? Posted: 16 Jan 2021 08:39 AM PST I ordered a MBP 16, intel i9 + 32GB RAM + 2TB storage. I'll be using it for some heavy programming and for school when I have like 30 chrome tabs open with zoom/teams, discord, an IDE and MS Word writing reports. I plan on keeping it for a long time. As you know, it only comes with the intel chip atm. I was hoping to try the new M1 chip, but it's not available for the 16'' and I wanted a powerful laptop that will last me. I was also worried about compatibility issues with certain software if I bought the M1. How are you guys finding this laptop? Is it powerful, quick? For those that code (Android dev and web dev), what's it like? [link] [comments]
Replacement options for broken Macbook Pro (M1 or i7) Posted: 16 Jan 2021 01:45 PM PST Recently my Macbook Pro (mid-2019) broke, Apple couldn't fix it so now I get a replacement. I can choose between the Macbook Pro M1 with 8GB of ram and a 256GB SSD or a Macbook Pro 2,3Ghz i7 with 16GB of ram and a 512GB SSD. Both replacement options are free. I can upgrade the specs but would have to pay the upgrade costs out of my own pocket. I know the M1 is extremely powerful, however because of the difference in ram and SSD I am not sure which version to choose. I am a student so I am looking for a laptop that will last me a long time. does anyone have advice. [link] [comments]
External display interface size Posted: 16 Jan 2021 12:45 PM PST Hello! I've got the MacBook Air M1 and I use an external display: a 24 inch Dell P2421D monitor, with my MacBook closed and docked. The monitor is connected via a HDMI adapter. Problem is, if I set the native resolution of the monitor (1440), then everything is so small it's barely readable. If I use the next resolution available (1152), it's about the right size (a tad big) but it's a bit blurry and I can't use the monitor at the resolution that I bought it for. Can anyone help? Posted: 16 Jan 2021 11:51 AM PST I'm about to buy my first MacBook and was wondering if I should get the 8 GB version or the 16. I plan on buying the air too. I plan on using it for college, so zoom and multiple tabs will be opened at the same time. Will the 8 GB be able to handle it or should I upgrade to 16? [link] [comments]
Is it safe to buy a 1st gen product? (Macbook Air M1) Posted: 16 Jan 2021 02:29 AM PST I am a lifelong windows user finally making the switch to apple. The macbook air M1 really interests me and I am planning to buy it. However, it is generally known that you should never buy a 1st gen product. Yet, at the same time I know that the M1 is not really new, having been in ipad previously. So, is it safe to buy the macbook air M1? [link] [comments]
Posted: 16 Jan 2021 05:04 AM PST Hello macbook users. I have a question for you. I am a big apple enthusiast but I am currently a pc user. For a long time I wanted to buy a macbook air and now I can finally do it. But should I buy it? Is it worth it? Also SIB a 8 gig version or 16 gig ? Thanks! ps: I am of course talking about the m1 version.... [link] [comments]

Macbook Air M1 has been Incredible! Posted: 16 Jan 2021 06:36 PM PST My time with the Macbook Air M1 has been incredible. I bought the Macbook Air M1 because of the purported features and sleek design, the excitement and novelty of using Mac OS in a new machine was a nice Christmas treat! But boy oh boy was I wrong to buy the piece of junk! The battery never lived up to the hype and it was quite underwhelming and after an ugly spell of cognitive dissonance upon reading the horror stories of many users who confirmed the reality behind the Macbook Air M1 with facts, I realized that I had to return this monstrosity and get my 1100 dollars back and boy did I because of Best Buy's extended holiday return policy! Absolutely sickening to see so many deluded apologist Apple fan boys attack others who dare say peep about the reality of these machines, apparently you're not using the computer correctly if the brightness isn't set to pitch black. For shame. [link] [comments]
