- This screen keeps playing on my MacBook M1. How do I get out of it?

- Dropped my iPhone X and now this has happened. How ruined am I?
- DisplayPort output randomly stops working on external display. Monitor knows something is plugged in but no signal. It's like the port is broken but sometimes it works again upon restart. HDMI always works but I need DisplayPort for increased resolution.
- New iPhone 11 having issues during automated phone calls. Right after connecting, automated menu pauses, as if thinking I’d make a menu selection or said something, when there is actually total silence on my end and I haven’t touched the screen. Never happened on my old iPhone 5s.
- Former Apple employee here... how do I remove AppleConnect from my phone? It blocks me from upgrading the OS!
- Why does the finder and "About my mac" show different levels of storage for my photos?

| File Transfers Capped at 1.5mbps on M1 Air Posted: 27 Jan 2021 03:44 PM PST Hello AppleHelp My wife and I each purchased a brand new M1 Macbook Air for ourselves as a Christmas present, My wife got the base model and I got the 512gb model with 16gb of ram, and we both have a similar issue, and I am not sure if there is a setting that I can change or if there is a hardware problem. Both my M1 air and my wife's can't transfer files past 1.5mbps. I have tried downloading large files off of the internet, like a CentOS iso, or a large zip file from dropbox and its capped at 1.5mbps in my browser. I open filezilla and try to transfer a file from my server to my Air and I only get 1.5mbps. If I try to download something from a browser and run my FTP server, the combined speed of all transfers is 1.5mbps. I also tried all of these tests with Safari just to make sure that it wasn't a compatibility thing with Firefox. I have a FTTH connection through my ISP, a gigabit ethernet network in my house. The only bottleneck would be the Wireless G WAP in my house, but my 2013 Macbook pro and 2014 iMac are both able to download 10+mbps on wifi and get the full 1000 over ethernet. At this point I am beginning to think that it may be a hardware problem, but for it to happen to both M1 Macbook Air computers that we ordered? Is there something I am missing or does this sound like the SSDs are faulty on our devices? When I google this, I can't find anybody else talking about this issue. /edit I called apple support, the Level 1 support immediately escalated to senior support, who had me run a bunch of tests and troubleshooting, and after he couldn't figure out what is going on he said he was going to escalate to an "Apple Engineer", and I should hear something back in 2 days. | Posted: 27 Jan 2021 05:18 PM PST Mac Mini Late 2012 Intel Core i7-3615QM Catalina 10.15.7 but I've had this problem along multiple OS updates. Cable is: Mini DP (Mac) -> DP(Dell monitor). I've tried a replacement cable - same problem. I've tried the same cable on another computer - display works, no problem. Let me know if I can provide any more helpful information. | Posted: 27 Jan 2021 10:40 PM PST I've tried disabling Attention Awareness and all the Face ID Attention settings. Didn't help. Tried disabling VoLTE. Didn't help. Tried disabling Noise Cancellation. Didn't help. Making a phone call to an automated system with a menu is now virtually impossible, because the menu stops almost immediately after the call connects. The menu obviously thinks I've made a selection, when I've done nothing. It's incredibly over sensitive to something on this iPhone 11 and I have no idea what it is. Posted: 27 Jan 2021 10:03 PM PST My 2015 MacBook Pro is constantly running out of space and I keep having to delete more stuff. At this point I'm almost out of stuff I'm willing to delete to make space unless there is a possible solution to this. when lookin at my photos in the finder it appears I have about 133 GB of space taken up by photos. However, when using the about my mac feature to see what is taking up storage it says photos take up around 155 GB. Overall it's a bout a 22 Gb difference and if there was some way to reconcile the two and get an extra 22 gigabytes of storage that would be helpful. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]  |

| Screen recording, no audio, quicktime Posted: 27 Jan 2021 05:29 PM PST I was recording my screen but while playing the video back realized there was no sound. I now understand that I have to actively turn the internal microphone on for the audio to record. Live and learn! My question is: Is there any way to recover that audio from my screen recording? My feeling is the audio doesn't exist since the mic wasn't on so there's no way to recover it. But I figured I would come to some people with knowledge and ask them. Any suggestions? | saving a second username/password to iCloud Keychain for a given site Posted: 27 Jan 2021 08:26 PM PST I had to reset a Discord password that was associated with my personal email. iCloud generated a password, which I accepted. When I navigated to the next screen, it asked me if I wanted to overwrite the password that was associated with a work email. I declined, which made it so the new password wasn't saved, and I'll have to reset it again. What's the proper way to get these saved separately? I know it's possible with gmail, so is this possibly related to iCloud's ability to understand Discord / to detect the email currently in use? If I need to make an entry in Keychain (associated with the URL and the email) prior to taking this step, that's ok, as long as the password generated in the browser gets saved. I could also use the password generators in Keychain, if that is the best way that is currently reliable for what I want. For extra credit, what is your technique for generating passwords on iOS when iCloud doesn't suggest one? For instance, most of the time when you're in an app, rather than in Mobile Safari, you are left to your own devices. I'm considering using NordPass to generate random ones for these (but I want them to get stored in iCloud with as little friction as is plausible). [link] [comments]  |

Now I want to sign out of my iCloud (to give my phone to my sibling) but it isnt letting me due to restrictions in the screentime department. I cannot change the screentime password because when I try to select the 'forgot my screentime password' section, it doesnt accept my iCloud information in order to change it (even though it is correct) Anyone know what to do? | Unfamiliar device showing in bluetooth's my devices...extremely concerned Posted: 27 Jan 2021 07:39 PM PST Hi all, So, usually I don't use Bluetooth, and have it off most of the time as well. However, whenever my iPhone restarts, it automatically turns on. I noticed that in the "My Devices" section there were three devices listed: two I was familiar with and one I was not. The name of the one I am unfamiliar with is "CHE2-L11". None of the devices were connected, but I have never seen this device ever, and immediately hit the button to forget it. However, now I'm really concerned because I'm not sure what, if any, information this device could have gotten from my phone. I've never seen this name before, I don't know when I ever connected to it, and I'm seemingly the only person in the household to have had it in my devices. Could my phone have been hacked, or could information have been taken from my phone this way? Can they listen to my phone calls? Please help. I'm freaking out. Thank you. [link] [comments]  |

I noticed lately my iMac has slowed down quite a bit. I'm wondering if I had to do something specific to keep my fusion drive? | Boot Loop and Kernel Panic after complete battery discharge Posted: 27 Jan 2021 07:16 PM PST Hi, the battery of my MBP 13" 2015 discharged down to 0% after taking it with me somewhere else for two nights without powering it off. After recharging, I'm getting Kernel Panics and am not able to boot up properly. BOOTCAMP doesn't work either - I get to the Windows log-in screen, but after typing in my account data, Windows sort of freezes (the UI still works, it's just that I don't get further than that). I already tried running First Aid and repairing Disk Permissions both through Recovery Mode and by booting into another copy of macOS (Big Sur) through an external SSD via USB. This doesn't work; see attached screenshot. Apparently, write access has been switched off? I can *access* the drive, although multiple folders appear to be empty. Applications from inside the SSD are working, though. Running a data recovery tool like Disk Drill seems to find all data, although I'm not sure whether I'd be able to recover everything, as of now. Is there any way to fix this without having to recover/migrate/*** the data on the disk? I had an approximately similar situation two years ago, when letting my MacBook Air drain down to 0% somehow killed its SSD's SMART-functionality and made the SSD essentially useless. So I'm hoping this is solvable through software alone. I'm using a SAMSUNG 970 EVO NVMe-SSD connected via an adapter, which worked fine since I got the MBP two years ago, and in case I wouldn't be able to fix the issue, the next best/least bad solution would be buying another SSD + an external case for the current one, doing a fresh install on the new one and copying the personal data I need from the old one to the new one prior to transforming the former into a Time Machine drive. I'd be fine with that, but really I would prefer not having to spend about 100€ just for this "workaround". I am thankful for every help. [link] [comments]  |

In an attempt to keep my time machine going I just hooked my time capsule up to the main Eero coming off the modem via ethernet, turned off the wifi, and selected it as my backup drive. Ever since altering my setup my time machine never seems to find the backup disc. I have no idea how to trouble shoot. It just constantly says "preparing backup" Any ideas? [link] [comments]  |
| Back ups with Time Machine vs storing on an external or iCloud Posted: 27 Jan 2021 06:53 PM PST I'd like advice on how to set up my backup system. Previously, I used a 3TB AirPort Time Capsule, but it took 26 hours to do the first backup and when I eventually needed it, a bit longer to reinstall back onto my computer. Since my files are in the terabytes, it seems to me the best option is to keep my documents, movies, etc. separate from system files and ongoing projects. (For example, use Time Machine to back up the System Files on an external and then put everything else either in iCloud or on another HD.) Since you're all power users here, I was hoping you could share how you handle backups with large systems. Any advice or tips? [link] [comments]  |
| Macbook Pro Crashes Halfway Through Boot Posted: 27 Jan 2021 06:44 PM PST Model: A1286 Year (on back): 2010 The mac powers on and goes to the login in screen. I type the password in, it starts to boot, the bar goes 75% and then it goes blank white screen. Things I have tried: Resetting PRAM did not change anything Internet recovery mode resulted in blank screen I've tried several different usb bootable with several different OS X versions but still nothing I removed the SSD and put a brand new one in. Ran internet recovery. It goes through, apple logo appeared, bar went halfway, then blank screen. Ive tried removing the ram and reinstalled it in various combinations with each stick and slot 2 of the bootable versions gave me blue screens ( one gave kernel error and the other gave you need to restart your computer warning) 1 of the bootable versions showed the apple screen but the computer was doing 3 beep intervals Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated? Feel free to ask any questions, I can provide greater details no problem. Also, I am not sure the original OS X so that could also be an issue. If anyone decides to help me, THANK YOU in advance. I have a iPad Pro 12.9 inch 2nd generation running software version 14.4. I recently ran out of storage, and was curious how that was possible. After checking on my storage I saw that 249.82GB was taken up by "Other." After a bit of searching on google I couldn't seem to find anything to help me. I would like to use that storage space and I'm not sure what to do. Please note: I can't upgrade my iCloud. The iPad has not been backed up in over 2 years. I don't know how to back up my iPad. I have to completely shut it off. This has been happening for a while now.. I don't know what's happening. Can somebody help me with this problem?
