Safari can't load page while Chrome can load Posted: 19 Nov 2020 01:30 AM PST It's not always, it happens sometimes. If I surf on websites for 1 hour, it happens at least 3 times. It was happening with Catalina, and now it continues with Big Sur too. I have 3 different devices running MacOS. All of them have same issue. When browsing websites, sometimes Safari can't open page. I need to refresh page after 5 seconds and and it opens successfully. When it happens, I try Chrome, and Chrome can load page without any issues. Chrome never had this issue. Only Safari had it. Since it happens on all Apple devices, I think it might be issue related to connection to Apple servers. Is Safari connecting Apple servers before loading any page? Is anyone experiencing same issue with Safari? [link] [comments]
The UI of search in Mail under Big Sur is annoying Posted: 18 Nov 2020 08:20 PM PST I frequently search for a message, copy something from it, and then want to return my INBOX to do something with the copied text. It used to be that clicking on a mailbox after a search would exit the search, but now the search is instead localized to whatever folder you click on. That's because the "Search all mailboxes" and "Search current mailbox" tabs are missing. So to do what I want, I need to first exit the search manually. The only way to do this seems to be to actually click the "x" in the search tab. So the new mail means an extra click. That sucks. Any preference to configure this I'm missing? [link] [comments]

Posted: 18 Nov 2020 03:08 PM PST Automatic switching from MacBook Air to iPhone XS works great but then MacBook disconnects my AirPods 2 from bluetooth connection and doesn't switch back when I try to play media on MacBook again. Did anyone experience this happening before? I feel like the AirPods prioritize iPhone or it acts as a hub. Please help if you know the fix. I love this feature. It's so futuristic and modern. Is the "clean up" option gone in Big Sur? Posted: 18 Nov 2020 07:03 PM PST So back while I still had Catalina (and pretty much every other MacOS), I got into the habit of always organizing my folders by highlighting what I wanted cleaned up and only having those selected folders arranged. Now in Big Sur, it seems that I can only use "clean up" by right clicking without having multiple files selected. Is this feature just completely gone now??? [link] [comments]
Big Sur, Airpods cutting bluetooth connections Posted: 19 Nov 2020 12:46 AM PST Hello, the airpods randomly cut out other bluetooth connections like mouse and keyboard. This happens for example when connecting/disconnecting airpods, when receiving a call,... The only way I have to make them work again is a restart of the mac. It's very frustrating. Anyone else with the same issue? [link] [comments]
What can the new m1 chip do with gaming? Posted: 19 Nov 2020 12:10 AM PST Anyone who bought the m1 MacBook or Mac mini had tried play pubg on steam by using the GeForce now? How about csgo? [link] [comments]
Solution to Bricked MacBook (Black screen) - Windows 10 saved the day! Posted: 18 Nov 2020 11:00 AM PST FOUND A SOLUTION!!! So, I opened the Mac, unplugged the i/o board and it went from brick to completing update on Big Sur. After 40 minutes installing, it was operational, but it didn't recognize the wifi because the i/o board was unplugged, and even if I plug it on MacOS it wouldn't recognize it. Even when I plug it back and reboot it goes to brick again, the black screen. So, I remmembered that I have windows 10 on Bootcamp. Unplugged the board and boot to Windows. While I was booting to Windows 10 I plugged the i/o board and... IT WORKED!! Microsoft Windows 10 SAVED my MacBook Pro mid-2014!!! Turned off the Mac and now it even boots to Big Sur with everything working! [link] [comments]
If I wanted to buy a Samsung, i would've bought a Samsung. Posted: 18 Nov 2020 11:35 PM PST The new Launchpad symbol is too colorful in my opinion and the design in general resembles more to android instead of the "known" timeless design of MacOS on MacOS Big Sur. [link] [comments]
Mail app pop up fixed in Big Sur? Posted: 18 Nov 2020 11:20 AM PST Have they finally fixed this annoying pop up? Like when you are watching your favourite TV show and Mail app suddenly pops up on half of your screen? I havent had any problems with it since the update. Does this work for everyone who has(d?) the issue? [link] [comments]
Big Sur / smb mount / quarantine Posted: 18 Nov 2020 12:18 PM PST Hey. After upgrading to Big Sur, I notice that network mounts (smbfs) are now mounted with the 'quarantine' flag, which seems to break a few things. Under Catalina the mount was reported as (smbfs, nodev, nosuid, mounted by me) Under Big Sur, the same mount is reported as (smbfs, nodev, nosuid, quarantine, mounted by me) Is it possible to change this? Possibly related: I used to have a script to mount network shares with lines like: open 'smb://me:password@nas/MountPoint' This no longer works. Any advice?! Thanks. [link] [comments]

Easiest way to "manage" kernel extensions? Big Sur bootup problems! Posted: 18 Nov 2020 01:18 PM PST Hey everyone! I am having a super odd issue with my Mac Pro since updating to Big Sur's final release (this was not happening at all during the beta!) When I boot up, I get caught in a loop where the Mac won't boot fully - it will keep restarting, probably 10 times, and then will finally boot. When I log in, I am told that a kernel extension was causing an issue booting up, and as a result, all kernel extensions are now disabled. I have 2 kernel extensions that I absolutely need - one of which allows me to access an 8TB internal PCIe SSD where I store footage that I am editing. When I try to re-enable that, along with an extension for Drobo, I am told I need to reboot in order for them to become active. I reboot, and the whole things starts over again. I notice in the Security area of System Preferences that it names several extensions - but it names them by the full name of the app/service, and does NOT give the filename or location of the actual kernel extension. I want to go in and remove some of these - and it also appears that not all of them are stored in the Extensions folder within Library. Is there an easy tool or app I can use to find all installed kernel extensions and will give me a way to delete/disable them? OR is there a way I can see WHICH extension is causing the problem with booting? I appreciate any help or insight! [link] [comments]

Posted: 18 Nov 2020 12:15 PM PST So I'm enjoying my new M1 MBA. I've been using Firefox forever on my other Macs but I've found that Safari seems to be faster on my new M1 MBA. The biggest reason I use Firefox is due to privacy concerns, but now I find that I'm really liking Safari. So I'm kinda torn. [link] [comments]
Pages keeps quit unexpectedly after installed MacOS Big Sur 11.0.1 Posted: 18 Nov 2020 07:32 PM PST It seems all iWork applications quit unexpectedly after I updated my MacBook system. Everything I tried to open a file it crash. I can only make a new document right now. The same situation applies to Pages, numbers and keynote. Does anybody else has the same problem? Can't figure out how to fix this! [link] [comments] |
