    Hi guys, someone has problem with the Backup and sync from google app?

    On Big Sur beta it worked, but after the update on final version it's stoping to work

    This is the error. I tried to re-install but it was useless.

    Big Sur: Issue with drag&drop from a fullscreen window

    I usually have Mail app fullscreen in a separate space, and use the four-finger swipes to move between spaces.

    Since Big Sur, I'm not able anymore to move a mail attachment from the fullscreen Mail app to a finder window on the Desktop (my main space).

    This is what I do:

    • Starting with Mail app fullscreen on it's own space
    • From the Mail app, hold the trackpad on a mail attachment
    • While holding the attachment, perform a four-finger right swipe to move to the Desktop space and then drop the attachment in a Finder window

    Before Big Sur, this could be done, but since then I cannot change space while holding a file

    Big Sur: Menu bar transparency app?

    Hi fellows,

    do you know any App for Big sur which allows it to deactivate the transparency.

    I know that there is a workaround to reduce transparency in the Accessibility settings, but i only want to reduce the transparency of the menu bar. Other areas are fine for me.

    ALDente or Charge Limiter working on M1 Big Sur?

    Hello guys,

    because of COVID im mostly in Home Office and my laptop ist 99% of the time plugged. Since I will get my M1 in dec I want to use either AL Dente or Charge Limiter to limit maximum charging percentadge at around 70-80. Can somone test if one the two tools work on M1 with Big Sur?

    secd high CPU usage on Big Sur - solution

    After installing Big Sur I got loud fans and the battery sucked out fast. This is the solution:

    "TL;DR:
    Go into ~/Library/Keychains and delete the folder that represents your local keychain (the folder will have a GUID-style name). Restart your Mac and all should be dandy. Please note, you MAY lose the convenience of having (some) saved passwords, requiring you to re-enter those."

    This also works for Big Sur. Renaming the key folder should be working as well.

    Apple devices show "30 days remaining" in Music "manage devices" menu

    Hi guys,

    When I go into the Music app and then to "Account" --> "Show account" --> "Manage devices" (translated from German) I see that it says "30 days remaining" for each of my Apple devices ("verbleibende Tage" means "days remaining"). See here:

    On top of the page it says that when a new device gets connected to an Apple ID it can't be connected to a new one for 90 days so I was really wondering why it displays this 30 day limit on all of my devices even though they have been connected years ago (as can be seen in the screenshot).

    One more note: When I leave e. g. my iPad turned off for 3 days it displays "27 days remaining" for it but jumps back up to 30 once I turn it on.

    I would just like to know if this is normal behavior or if this is some kind of bug.

    Sound quality gets shit if i'm on a call and watching a video at the same time

    If i'm on a zoom call/ms team/any kind of call the audio gets terrible if i try to watch a video. Is this normal or is there a fix?

    MacOS Big Sur Beta 11.1 Disabled external monitor to work with lid closed?

    So I installed the beta 11.1 and now I can't use the external display when the lid is closed. Is this happening to any of you?

    • Cleared PRAM
    • AC adapter is pluged in (Not under battery)
    • Tried switching ports (AC adapter and Monitor)
    • Bluetooth does wake device if sleep (checked with lid on)
    • If lid open, when computer awakes both displays work.
    • If lid closed, computer awakes but external display does not.
    • Can't install any other OS updates using APPStore under "this version is too old"
    • Can't reinstall OS when recovery boot, stuck when select the volume, apparently similar error as above.

    Any suggestions?

    Big Sur charging issue

    Hey Guys,

    We have dell docks at work that used to work well with my '17 MBP. After updating I have found that the USB-C connector from the dock doesn't charge the laptop, the lightning indicator on the battery icon pops up but states "not charging". Additionally, after plugging it in, it also prevents me from using the OEM charger and will continue to not work until I restart the computer.

    Any tips?

    Mystery "Passwords..." button on desktop? Anybody know what this is?

    In this screenshot, I have this button hovering over all of my applications that just says "Passwords...". It highlights as if I can click it, but nothing happens when I do and it doesn't go away unless I restart. I thought it might be an app, but I've closed all applications and it still doesn't go away. Anybody have any idea where this may be coming from?

    Mac is a 16" MacBook Pro running macOS Big Sur 11.0.1.

    I deleted and formatted the hard drive on my acer laptop and was running Linux on it. Now I'm giving it to a friend and want to install the latest windows on it. I am using my mac mini and that's the only way I can create the USB disk needed to install it. I Need to first create a USB drive in my mac, transfer the downloaded windows 10 ISO image to it and then take the disk and insert it into my acer and install windows. I've tried a few different ways but everything I tried fails. The USB stick is 18 gig. Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Potential hazard of Encrypting Disk with Big Sur

    I have no idea how widespread this issue is, but let me explain what happened to me. I updated to Big Sur on my 2016 MBP. There were 3 bugs I noticed. (These are listed at the bottom for those interested). One irritated me enough that I decided to enroll in beta to try to fix it, but that didn't work, so I attempted to reinstall.

    I keep my disk encrypted and after trying to reinstall the MacOS, my MBP was endlessly rebooting every time I entered my PW to unlock my Mac. Further, when I tried to unlock my encrypted disk, it kept telling me the PW was wrong. It's the same password I use to unlock my Mac and am 100% certain it is correct (I have it saved to a password manager). Also when I entered the wrong PW to test logging in, it didn't accept it and reboot. Bizarre that it would unlock my Mac but then endlessly reboot, but not unencrypt my disk. No problem, so it prompted me to use my recovery key if I didn't know the PW, but the recovery key (which again I kept a screenshot of in my PW manager) I am sure was 100% correct was not accepted.

    In the end I had to completely erase my disk and reinstall Big Sur. Days later I am still changing all my settings and reinstalling apps I use in my day-to-day workflow. Fortunately I keep all my data synced to cloud, but it's a major annoyance.

    I spoke with 3 Apple Support specialists to try to figure this out before erasing my disk. The last one told me it could be something related to Big Sur that prevented it from accepting my PW or recovery key. I tried to reset my PW and all that but it wouldn't let me do so without the recovery key.

    I make this post to warn others. Do with this info what you wish. I have always encrypted, but this was a big pain and a lot of people are in for a large data loss if there is something in the Big Sur software that interferes with unlocking an encrypted disk. I am terrified to encrypt the disk again.

    BTW, the 3 bugs were:

    1. Apps that relied on system dark/light theme would not show in dark. This happened with 3rd party apps, like Canary email, but also the Apple News App. I pay $10/month for that, so it was a bit annoying to be blinded by light at midnight in bed on the app. This is why I decided to reinstall and see if the bugs would disappear. One Apple specialist said it was a known issue and should disappear in future updates. Another Apple specialist said they didn't see anything about it and it must "a very rare known issue." I don't know what to think about it.
    2. The indicator that shows up on sound and brightness was not showing change when turning them up or down. The little widget or whatever it's called would show on the screen and the light and sound changed but I could never see where it was on the scale.
    3. A blueish rectangle showed up around some links in various apps that had never been there before until after Big Sur.

    Does Option+Command+[Left] Click [on Desktop] still hide all windows to the desktop? It is not working for me anymore- I am fully updated.

    Esc/done inconsistent in Touch Bar when using Spotlight

    After upgrading to Big Sur, I noticed that when using Spotlight there's no esc key anymore in the Touch Bar, instead there's "done". However, on some occasions the key just doesn't show up and the only way to close Spotlight is with cmd+space or with the mouse/trackpad. Is there a reason for this, or is it just a bug?

    Big Sur—how to show battery percentage on lock screen?

    I'm on MacOS Big Sur now, and while I've figured out how to re-enable displaying the battery percentage for when I'm actually using my computer, the percentage no longer displays on the lock screen. Is there any way to fix this? It's pretty annoying having to log in to my computer every time it's charging and I want to accurately see how much more it has to go until it's fully charged.

    New file path for Music?

    I noticed that my file path for music is now

    ~/music/music/media/music

    I don't remember there being another "music folder in the media folder. Is this the case for everyone else? Was it like this in Catalina?

    I also noticed that if I click on a song in my library and ask for the file path it returns

    ~/music/music/media.localized/music

    Why is it "media.localized" when viewed this way? What does it mean? Was it also always like this?

    Is it sad that I miss the old style spotlight? I wish I could switch it back to this. I can't stand the current version that takes up just about the whole screen.

    Maybe it's just on my Mac. I noticed it after updating to macOS 11.1 Public Beta 1.

    Does anyone know if it's a bug or just an option that I accidentally turned off?
