The time has come, welcome to the first ever Arcade Awards!

The time has come, welcome to the first ever Arcade Awards!

The Arcade Awards are an awards hosted by the community Apple Arcade Discord that you can join with this link. This Reddit adaptation of the live show has taken three days to complete. Apologies for the delay and enjoy the show!

    -----------------------------------------------------------

Recently I learned there was another annual awards coincidentally of the same name over 40 years ago in Electronic Games Magazine.

Similar to the Arcade Awards of 1979, the number of categories games can win is limited, in this case to two. However, these awards are solely decided by players' votes.

Keep in mind that if these awards don't line up with your personal choices, that's ok, I don't think any less of you for it. The majority does :) [Joking]

With all that out of the way let's leap straight into the first award!

    -----------------------------------------------------------

The premiere award of this premiere Arcade Awards is Best Puzzle Game.

And the winner is... Capy Games' - Grindstone!

Thanks for the video, Joel and congratulations on the award for your studio's premiere Arcade title! It is more certain than ever that your game is a must try on the service.

Honorable mention to A Monster's Expedition for Best Puzzle Game.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

And now, Best Strategy Game goes to... Pomelo Games' - Outlanders!

Thank you for going to the extra effort to make a video and congratulations on the award! Definitely well deserved given how polished and fun the game is.

Honorable mention to Mini Motorways for Best Strategy Game.

    ----------------------------------------------------

And the award for Best Action Game goes to... Might Bear Games' - Butter Royale!

    Thanks for the clip, Martha!

Honorable mention for Best Action Game to Exit The Gungeon.

    ----------------------------------------------------

And the game with the Best Audio is... Simogo's - Sayonara Wild Hearts!

Thank you very much for this award! This game is all about the music as you all know and we'd like to reach out to our musicians extraordinaire - Linnea, Daniel and Jonathan. Also a big thanks to Queen Latifah for being the narrator. Let's Pop! - Magnus 'Gordon' Gardebäck

Congratulations on the award, Gordon! The attention paid to all aspects of the game in conjunction with the music was truly outstanding.

    ----------------------------------------------------

And now for the funniest game on Apple Arcade. Best Humor goes to... Triband's - WHAT THE GOLF?!

Wow! Thank you so much for going the extra cinematic mile on your video! What The Golf has always been a favorite of mine for its wacky gameplay. You really never know what is around the next hole.

Fun Fact: This was the category that had the most votes for its victor.

Due to a slew of technical issues the other half of the Arcade Awards including Game of the Year are contained in this separate post.

    Co-op game for 2

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 07:04 AM PST

My girl and I want to play some games together. We tried among us but it sucks, I mean playing together with random players is pretty annoying. Do you recommend some games we can play both? Thanks BTW they should be free or at least not very expensive please :p

    Old school RPG suggestions

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 07:42 AM PST

I'm looking for some old school pen and paper style rpg games. I am not looking for old school rpg video games, like ultimate or wizardry. If you are familiar with board games, I am looking for something similar to four against darkness, but only digital. Is anything like that out there?

Halo-esque game from ~10 years ago

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 07:23 AM PST

Hi guys, I'm trying to find this FPS from around 10 years ago. I remember it looked like a Halo copy, and had different maps with bosses you could find through. Also I'm pretty sure local multiplayer was an option. The name had something to do with cube or a box if I'm remembering correctly. Can someone help me out? I've been trying to find this game for years and it seems to have disappeared from my Apps history.
