    Hello everyone,

So my mom has been battling leukemia for two years. After relapsing earlier this year she had lost much of her hope until my father passed away two weeks ago. She saw how we mourned and suffered for his loss and she decided to keep fighting so that she can live to see our milestones.

Well, yesterday my mom was doing small things around the house because she tries to keep active. She began having a small headache which got worse and worse every few minutes. What happened after was traumatic for me so I won't go into detail but she went limp and got taken away in an ambulance.

When she arrived they found a blood clot in her brain and told us they needed to either medicate her or perform surgery to open up her skull for the brain swelling. Due to the leukemia the doctors thought it would be best to transfer her to another hospital that specializes in cancer and can perform the surgery.

When the new hospital received her they ran a scan on her brain and found no brain activity anymore. She still breathes and has a pulse, but the mind is gone.

When I visited her I paired the Apple Watch to her phone and placed it on her wrist, tears streaming down my face. I then went to messages and sent myself a heartbeat message. So I can always have her heartbeat with me.

I love you forever mom. Thank you Apple for letting me capture such a precious moment.

EDIT: Thank you all so much for your love and support. I'm crying right now because my mom was my world to me. We had been looking for a house to buy because my mom's dream was to have a house we could all live in and be happy after my dad sold our original house and kicked us out. The day before the life-changing "headache" occurred, we had taken her to a house that looked similar albeit smaller than our original. She was so happy that she sat on the couches in the house viewing and said she liked it. We made an offer with me, my sister, and my Mom as signers. With the my mom's condition no expecting to get better, we have had to pull her from the signing and we are praying they accept the offer we put in for the house, as it was the last one she liked before her accident.

My remaining family (sister and I) do not want to live in our current apartment anymore as we have experienced so much tragedy here. Several of our dogs died in the five years we've been here. This year our youngest pup was eaten by coyotes, my father passed away just a few weeks ago, and now my mother will most likely according to the neurologists.

Thank you all so much for your support and any advice for getting through this emotionally, spiritually, or legally is appreciated.

I posted some pictures in the comments

EDIT 2: For those of you with parents who are still kicking. Please tell them often how much you love them! They may know it, but it never hurts to hear it. One moment they are there and the next moment they could be gone. My mother fought leukemia for two years and in one hour yesterday she was gone.

Like a commenter here said, being able to see a loved one off in their final moments is truly a privilege and a gift. One that many do not get the opportunity to do. In my case I wasn't able to tell my mom how much I loved her. When she was suffering with her headache she told me she loved me and my sister, but because I didn't want to scare her I said "I know, but you're going to be fine." She was not fine and I feel guilt that I did not hug her and tell her everything that I did when she was already brain dead.

EDIT 3: Thank you for the awards everyone, I've never gotten gold let alone platinum my entire time on Reddit. I wish it was under better circumstances but it means a lot to me thank you.

I tried sleeping last night and kept waking up in cold sweats. I haven't had this since I was high school. My mom would put a t shirt on my pillow so I wouldn't get it wet and I tried that tonight.

I also have her dog sleeping with me in my room. She used to sleep with my mom but I just couldn't leave her alone and so I put her bed in my room. She's very old but I hope she lives for many years since my mom loved her very much.

I wish with all my heart I could show my mom your love and support. To show her people can be compassionate for others they don't even know. I never thought this would blow up like this because I had planned to post this as a way of venting what was happening to my sister and I. It's comforting having all your thoughts and prayers with us. I will show my sister this when I get the chance. For now I will try to get some more sleep.

Anyone else noticed that the bubble thumb you get when washing your hands has been replaced by bubbly text with the watchOS 7.1?

Bubble thumb, you will be missed...

I’ve had this watch for a year. I’ve wore it everyday, lost 20 lbs and got in shape (physically and mentally). Today, I dropped it at my new apartment (on tile floors....) and the screen did not like it, to say the least.

Gen 1 Apple Watch ⌚️ broke after 5 years

    Posted: 07 Nov 2020 08:27 PM PST

I tried switching back to a mechanical watch. It was terrible.

    Posted: 07 Nov 2020 09:07 PM PST

I'm a bit of a watch enthusiast, so I still have an appreciation of mechanical watches. I was wondering if I could go back to one of my mechanical watches after wearing an Apple Watch Series 6 daily since September.

Throughout the day, I found myself constantly looking down at my mechanical watch expecting to see things it doesn't have like the date and temperature outside. On several occasions, I also instinctively started raising my wrist to ask Siri to set a reminder or identify a song before catching myself and realizing that my mechanical watch can't do that.

Later in the evening, I glanced down at my wrist for the time only to realize that it was too dark to easily read the dial even though my mechanical watch has lumed markers—a problem I never have with the Apple Watch.

Finally, I've been waiting to order an iPhone 12 Pro Max, which was available for pre-order starting on last Friday at 5:00am PT. I'm not sure how in demand they are, but I wanted to be sure to get my order in as soon as possible after 5:00am PT so that I wouldn't have to wait for delivery in case it got backordered. As I was waiting for the Apple Store page to go-live, I glanced at my mechanical watch for the time, but then remembered that I can't actually trust my mechanical watch for an EXACT time. It runs +/- 2 minutes a week. I wanted to refresh the page EXACTLY at 5:00am PT, but couldn't rely on my watch for that and had to watch my computer clock.

Admittedly, the mechanical watch still looks more impressive on the wrist than the Apple Watch, and feels better balanced. I find the Apple Watch too top heavy even with the stainless steel bracelet. And, of course, it's nice to never have to take off a mechanical watch to charge it. But, overall I realize how many functions of the Apple Watch I've already integrated into my life even though technically I could do most of those things with my phone (e.g. check the time or weather or date or ask Siri for something).

Tip: Stop accidental touches from (No Water Lock method)

    Posted: 07 Nov 2020 07:37 PM PST

    Hello everyone,

So, got my Apple Watch a few days ago. I do like it a lot already. But there is one thing that annoyed me. When I wore a long-sleeve shirt/jacket on my run/hike, as I started to sweat a little, the wet sleeve triggered accidental touches on the display, causing my run/hike to stop and pause randomly or start new workouts, etc. Quite annoying. Everyone suggested Water Lock as a solution… Which I kind of hate. For that reason, I'd like to share a tip to solve this.

So, the Water Lock. It works… But you then have to unlock the watch every time you want to use it. It makes these long beeps that can't be muted. I know there is a rightful reason for it, but still – I don't want everyone to hear the noise of my unlocking watch every single time. This all should not be necessary because of a few drops of sweat.

    Solution:

A workout is usually interrupted by uncontrollable swipes and taps from the liquid on the display. The solution is to prevent the watch from registering single taps and swipes – that is what a lot of other watch brands do (they make you long-press a button to start/stop a workout).

    iPhone:

    • Open the Watch app on the iPhone and go to Accessibility > Touch Accommodations
    • Turn on Hold Duration, set it to 1s or 2s (whatever you like)
    • Check that Swipe Gestures is disabled
    • Now turn on Touch Accommodations at the very top

You can turn this on directly from Apple Watch's settings as well.

    How it works:

Before you start a workout, press the Digital Crown three times. The Touch Accommodations get enabled. Now, to register a touch, you need to hold the display for a set period of time (1s, 2s, etc.). The same applies to swiping – hold until the timer is finished, and then swipe. This should prevent the wet sleeve from accidentally swiping and touching buttons. You can actually still use your watch while working out without having to unlock and lock it again. After the workout, press the Digital Crown three times again to disable this mode and get it back to normal.

You can also adjust the speed of the Digital Crown in Accessibility > Side Button Click Speed.

I'm sure this is nothing new to many people. But some of us might not know this is possible at all. It is a very simple setting, but I haven't seen it really suggested anywhere. I hope it might help someone.

    Have a nice day everyone!

So Confused about region locks Help needed !

    Posted: 08 Nov 2020 02:27 AM PST

Interested in buying a new watch, but everyone says something different !

To start : my country isn't listed in most features here: https://www.apple.com/watchos/feature-availability

are these features region locked by choosing the country I am in, in the software menu or by the actual model numbers shipped to the country ?

I contacted few resellers and some of them said that Blood oxygen wont work ( my country isnt listed ) but the other mentioned that it works ! Which really raises confusion
