Were any improvements/tweaks made to Screen Time in the upgrade to iOS14?

    Posted: 23 Nov 2020 03:42 AM PST

Can anyone (particularly developers) tell me if there were any improvements made to Screen Time in iOS14? Screen Time really needs to provide better tools for adults and children who struggle with screen addition, and I 'd like to know if Apple are continuing to develop it.

    In my opinion it needs:

    • Support for blocking specific sites in third-party browsers, in addition to Safari
    • Ability to schedule time blocks, so that, for example, you can block all social media apps and websites during work hours
    • Locked mode. Currently you can easily bypass a block by entering the screen time PIN code. That's fine when your willpower is strong, but what about when you are feeling weak. There should be an option to not be able to bypass a block until the current block session ends, be it the 'Downtime' block, or one set during the day.
    • Curated blocks. Blocking the Facebook app should also block the facebook.com website in all third party browsers.
    • API for third-party apps to manage block lists and schedules. (e.g. Freedom). This problem is bigger than Apple, and many of us work cross platform. There need to be ways for third party apps to have the ability to manage blocks across all the devices we use be it Windows, MacOS, Linux, Android, iOS etc.
    • API to access device usage data, with necessary permissions granted, in third party apps (e.g. Rescue Time). This would help us better understand where time is being wasted across all our devices.

iOS 14.2.1 bug. Landscape videos have a widgets partially covering left side. Can’t swipe away. Very annoying.

    Emergency Bypass for Apps

    Posted: 23 Nov 2020 06:36 AM PST

Not sure about others but for me I would love to see the option in iOS for emergency bypass for app notifications. There's an ever growing amount of smart home users and it would be nice to have notifications like Arlo or SmartThings be able to bypass DND settings.

Is there any list if all iOS "text"?

    Posted: 23 Nov 2020 04:44 AM PST

Hey there! The title is a bit vague, but I don't which keywords could describe what I am looking for. I'll try to explain more detailed.

What I'm looking for is a list/spreadsheet/.. including all text that's used in the iOS system. For example: Settings, Photos, Accesibility, "Do you want to turn on push notificiations", ... This would be a great help to my for my language learning.

Does anybody know whether such a file exists? Thanks in advance!

Is there any way to see which apps are using the most network/data?

    Posted: 22 Nov 2020 11:15 AM PST

Perhaps an equivalent to "ntop" on Linux? I'm asking because an iPhone on the WiFi network went a bit crazy and starting pulling 20Mbit constantly all day (20GB per day) and my router only says it's coming from iCloud.

I tried turning on low data mode, turning off background app refresh, closing all apps, and none of these helped. There are no pending transfers in the Photos app either.

The phone is also up to date, so it's a complete mystery what it's been trying to do.

Is there a way to do this on iOS or an app which can do it?

Want to connect USB C keyboard and HDMI to iPhone 7 iOS 14.

    Posted: 22 Nov 2020 02:16 PM PST

From what I have read, it looks like the HDMI lightening adapters usually want power coming in on the extra lightening port. I want to connect a keyboard and HDMI at the same time (and use a Bluetooth mouse). What's the cheapest option to get this running?

I'd love to see Apple unify their audio messaging features

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 02:26 AM PST

    Currently we have the following:

    1. Apple Watch Walkie Talkie: only from watch to watch.
    2. Audio messages with iMessage: available across WatchOS, iOS, and MacOS.
    3. Intercom: available with your family/HomeKit group only across iOS, WatchOS, and AudioOS (not MacOS).

    What do you guys think?

Disclaimer: this is NOT a support request. I am not looking for tech support.
