macOS Tech community after A14

I moved most of my music files to my iCloud drive (big collection -> 200 - 300 GB). The music app now says that these songs I moved are missing. Is there any way to let the music app know where these moved files are now so that I can play them in the app and, more important, sync it with my iPhone??

I am desperately seeking for help since I don't get any info on this...

btw. I am not using Apple Music subscription / Icloud Music or Itunes Match, since these messed up my complete music collection in terms of missing songs, duplicate playlists, wrong album covers, etc...

Edit. I don't let the music app organize my songs. I have them manually ordered into folders of years and each folder represents a playlist. So changing the path in the music app settings does not solve my problem.

iOS devices show up in System information and configurator but not in finder

Hello, I work with managed iPads and one got stuck in locked mode since we didn't have the passcode. I get an unknown error when trying to restore the device in configurator and apparently it doesn't work in Catalina with iOS 13 or something, so I was suggested to restore the device via finder. It doesn't show up. I've tried toggling iOS devices in finder preferences. The device shows up in System information and Configurator. Any advice?

Finder crashes on VPN

Hi everyone.

i'm having an issue on my macbook Air (9,1) when i connect to my office VPN. If i keep my VPN connection alive (navigating through my office NAS folders etc..) everything's fine. If i don't keep it constantly alive it stucks and my Finder crashes.

So i need to force reboot my macbook to clear the issue.

This happens a lot of times during the day and not only on my macbook but also on my colleagues macbooks.

The VPN is an IPsec tunnels over my office Fortigate firewall.

Any idea why this happens?

Bit of help please

So my employers all in one Mac is taking forever to boot up, I got it to work by resetting the NVRAM and all that but now it loads up to a black screen, a text bubble about updating Apple log in and the top menu tool bar

What should I do next?

I haven't booted in safe mode because I don't have his log in and at this moment he is away but aside from safe mode are there any other suggestions?

I have been doing this for a while, and if it's like in the sample giving me IP address link like smb://17.212.167.33/ then it works perfect

but sometimes it just give me like smb://mymacbook.lan which don't work on windows at all.

how to force it to give ip address on system preference-file sharing without me finding the number myself? thanks

Big Sur Battery Performance

I got the 2020 MacBook Pro 13 inch baseline model about a week ago and installed the latest Big Sur Beta. I'm only getting about 4 hour battery life on regular use. When I'm on zoom and google meets, the battery drain is even more horrendous. Is this normal or should I get my MacBook checked? I thought that battery performance would be way better after 8 betas.

Wouldnt it be nice if there was just a quick UI element that was a simple one-click action to report whether you like a song or not? For me, Apple Music is starting to finally get some good music recommendations after several years of use but I'd like it to be even better if possible! I'm curios on what you all think.

Mixtape Multiple MP3 and MP4 all merged in itunes, file names similar how do I separate?

Hello, if anyone can assist me with this, PLEASE DO.. I will appreciate it.

my Problem I have 119 files, it is a combination of 6-7 mixtapes. I need to combine the songs in album format so that the songs are sequential to the mixtape. Unfortunately, the file names are

01 Track 01

02 Track 02....etc.. This goes to tracks 30-37;respectively assumingly depending on the album.

I don't know why they zipped the files like this, but this is the way they are. This is where I need some assistance:

Here is what I was able to see. The only thing that makes this different is, when you go to properties I can see that the files were encoded to show the total number of tracks for each album.

encoded by:iTunes 12.2.2.25

Thats it. Most files are mp3s and 2 sets of mp4s. How can I separate it to create albums so that the songs are sequential to be played like a mixtape. There is no album name, no song name, only artist name.

New User account issues

Is there a way when creating a new user to not give it access to any of the admin's applications?

In fact, it'd be nice to be able to install my own coy of Pro Tools and other applications rather than it stemming from the Admin's account. The problem I run into is even though I have my iLok plugged in, when Pro Tools is initializing, it's wanting to authorize the admin's plug-ins (hundreds) and I have to click either "quit or authorize" for each pop up of plug-in authorization. I did this for 15 mins before force quitting and walking away.

MBP 15" Late 2013 Random Shutdowns after updating to macOS 10.15.16

I have recently been having issues with my MacBook Pro 15in Late 2013 after updating to macOS 10.15.16. Because of the update, my MBP has been experiencing random silent shutdowns. It will only stay on for a few minutes before crashing.

This isn't the first time that this has happened to me. When I first started have these issues I resolved them by renaming the extensions for the Thunderbolt drivers. But this doesn't work anymore.

kernel panics after sleep

I have 2020 13 mbp, and there are times when I close the laptop lid (sleep) and open it the next time, or even a full shutdown, I get a message that "computer has to be restarted" on a black backgroud. But then, I can't find what caused this message in the Console logs.

I already tried to reset nvram or smc with no success.

Please help, I hoped that mac os stable. Thanks.

Bricked external drive by deleting a time machine backup?

I was being impatient yesterday by trying to make space on an external drive that had a time machine backup so I could make space for more videos to transfer - but instead of going about it the correct way - I just clicked "delete" on the backup folder to send it to my trash bin.

I started deleting the backup manually from the bin, but it was taking absolutely forever and I ended shutting down my MacBook a few hours later like an idiot which for some reason cleared the trash bin but seemingly bricked the external drive in the process.

It won't appear normally under locations in finder - but using disk utility or disk drill has it appear - but there's seemingly no files on it despite all 4TB being "used up".

Am I going about the recovery process incorrectly or am I completely screwed up in trying to recover all those videos and photos?

How to compile for macos?

I'd like to use a video editor called Kdenlive, for use on mac you have to compile it yourself. I'm new to macos and I don't know how to do this at all.

Cryptomator - Encrypt your files before uploading to the cloud.

Rectangle - Resize windows.

How to create a folder that doesn't since with iCloud drive

forgive me if I'm being an idiot here but I'm trying to edit a video, I dragged the files into a folder onto the desktop but they keep syncing to the cloud and I have to redownload them as they disappear from the final cut window. I know I can turn the sync option off but I'm happy to keep most of the files synced with the cloud. Am I being an absolute idiot here or is there nowhere to place a folder outside of the documents/desktop?

Chrome Extremely Slow, HIGH CPU Usage

Seeing issues with Chrome Version 85.0.4183.121 with macOS Catalina 10.15.6

Haven't experienced this issue yet with previous builds.

Deleted Chrome Cache, Re-installed, issues persist.
