| Updated Netflix output in Stereo suddenly Posted: 23 Sep 2020 01:08 PM PDT My Netflix updated automatically to the latest version today. Played Enola Holmes and it was in stereo instead of DD 5.1, like I used to output in with Netflix. Changed another movie and series on Netflix – the same – it outputs in stereo only. Everything is in DD 5.1 – Plex and Apple TV+. Have Netflix done something with the sound output? Btw i Have the latest TVOS update. [link] [comments]  |
| Apple TV 4K YouTube/Airplay issues Posted: 23 Sep 2020 09:43 AM PDT Since updating to iOS 14 and TVOS 14 i have experienced some kind of connectivity problem when casting YouTube from my phone Basically, before updating I would find the video I want on my phone and press the cast button, choose "Airplay & Bluetooth devices" and choose my ATV and that was it. Now when I do that same process it works, but when I lock my phone screen the ATV flickers between a black screen and the Home Screen a few times and then just goes to the Home Screen. Nothing else has changed in my setup, so did the updates break something? EDIT: interestingly it still works if I do this from my iPad which is still on iOS 13.x I also tried resetting my ATV just in case, no dice. [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 24 Sep 2020 03:17 AM PDT I have the Apple TV 4K and when I use Dolby Vision, there is an audio delay. I'm on the latest OS and have the ultra high speed 4K HDMI cable. I know a lot of others have had this problem and Apple was supposed to fix it, but I'm still having the same problem. Anyone else? How do I fix this? [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 23 Sep 2020 07:09 PM PDT Running 14.0 and noticing sound issues all over the place. When I run Surround Speaker check it wants to push my rear audio to the front. Netflix only appears to be playing in stereo, however Vudu seems to be pushing the sound as normal. I've done the usual enable/disable of Atmos, changed to Dolby 5.1 and restarted the Apple TV a bunch of times but wasn't sure if this was a firmware issue? Anyone found a solution to the sound issues? [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 23 Sep 2020 08:46 AM PDT Hi there. I've ripped a DVD that I got using handbrake (with Apple 1080p30 preset, so format .m4v). I manage to play the movie perfectly either on my Mac or my iPhone (using Home Sharing) in the « TV app » but when I want to cast to my Samsung TV using Airplay, I get a message of type « the format cannot be played on this television » - I reword given that my iPhone is set to french. Obviously I never got that message with movies bought directly from iTunes/TV. So any idea on what could be the issue ? Thanks in advance [link] [comments]  |

| Does anyone use the new AppleTV PIP feature? Posted: 23 Sep 2020 02:37 PM PDT Is this feature useless or one of those where after time, more and more apps will support it? I find it kind of unnecessary to ever have a movie via AppleTV app to the corner while browsing other movies. I was really hoping this would work with news apps so I can have PIP of two broadcasts. Or one Spectrum TV app while toggling between another news app, etc. Between this not working on any news app (MSNBC, FOX, CBS, ABC news apps etc), Youtube (regular), and Spectrum, I really haven't found any use for it...PIP has been one of my favorite features since WebTV in 1997, but to not have the ability to do it over any live broadcasts is a little disappointing. | Posted: 23 Sep 2020 04:21 PM PDT I know it's not possible but hear me out. I am a selective cheapskate. I can justify the price of living in the Apple ecosystem but I draw the line at $5+ dollar movie rentals knowing I can either get them for less though Redbox or free through the library. Then there's the occasional movie that's not available online everywhere (I know Plex exists, but that's not today's point). Wouldn't it be awesome to be able to steam what's playing on a Blu Ray to an Apple TV similarly to how Amazon and TiVo do it with OTA TV. By what I could tell, there's no way of making Amazon or TiVo stream a Blu Ray which got me wondering if I could get a Raspberry Pi to stream it using an El Gato onto YouTube and access the private stream on my Apple TVs. Of course, both the steam and the Blu Ray player would have to be running 24/7 and I can only steam one movie at a time which is fine but I'm more interested in how realistic the work around is and potential quality issues that might occur.
