    Google - Apple Ad War

    As most of you have no doubt noticed, google services have been absolutely deluged with ads lately. Youtube in particular has been a nightmare. There looks to be a pretty big ad war being fought right now against Apple. The timeline -

    • Apple announced new privacy settings that gut ad tracking in general directly hitting Google and Facebook on their revenue stream. Google is especially hit because they virtually own the online ad platform.
    • In retaliation, Google announced aggressive increased ad policies like the changes in Youtube where all old videos automatically get ads shoved in their middle. This isn't a problem for Android/PC users because they have proper ad block but for the Youtube app on IOS/Ipad devices, it is unusable with the amount of ads you are seeing. Google is hitting customer experience on Apple directly knowing full well that their android/pc customers won't be affected as hard.
    • Apple releases the IOS14 changes which means safari browser (safari has ad block) can block ads on Youtube as well as provide PIP which is vastly superior to the youtube app itself. This is to counter Google's move on shoving ads.
    • Google in retaliation, breaks the youtube site on iphone (it worked fine on the first day) so that the pip doesn't work. It still works on ipad, possibly as a sign that they are open to negotiate.

    With the amount of ads lately on youtube, I was seriously considering switching to Android and getting proper ad block like my pc when I suddenly realized this is probably what Google wants. To make experience for Iphones so bad with ads that customers jump ship. Or Apple backtracks from their privacy policies and Google can continue their ad tracking. At the end of the day, we customers are getting shafted and we need to call out Google on this. Hopefully media outlets pick up on this.

    Autocorrecting .uk to .U.K. in iOS14 (.co.U.K.!!)

    I've noticed since updating to iOS 14 that when typing emails or websites in a text field with .uk in them, it's updating to .U.K..

    Especially a problem when trying to write emails, for example I have a .nhs.uk email which updates to .nhs.U.K.

    Also, "Apple.co.U.K", etc. etc.

    I don't want to turn off autocorrect as it is helpful. But I don't ever need to write UK as U.K.

    I've written feedback via Apples feedback website.

    Is this just my phone? Is it a bug? Any ideas?...

    (Interestingly USA doesn't correct to U.S.A. on my phone)

    Flickering Widgets on IOS 14

    Seems like they re-enabled Gaze Correction on iOS 14, awesome for video calls, not available on Zoom unfortunately

    Is this the reason why Xcloud and Stadia have been hindered? Luna will be possible on iPhone and iPad through web apps. Is that different than what Microsoft wanted to do? If so, that's pretty lame.
