- I found this Macbook (model A1181) in the trash today. It had been disassembled, but luckily the screws were kept in a plastic bag alongside it. This metal part came with the screws. Does anyone know what it is and whether it's part of the Macbook or not? I couldn't find anything about it online.
- Dented my MacBook today... any way to fix this? I know it’s not necessary, but it looks really uncomfortable.
- Which should I get? Both are $1299 i know the pro has the Touch Bar but besides that which would be better towards like coding/editing?

Does anyone else feels bullied for owning Apple products nowadays? Posted: 06 Sep 2020 06:38 PM PDT Specially on the internet. I remember being 15 and always desiring to own an iPhone or Mac because of how easy to use and stylish they looked. At the time owning an iPod or Mac was the cool thing, and people who got one would sometimes look down on others who couldn't afford it. Fast forward to the late 10s, the tech company I work gave Macs to every employee to use, and I finally got a taste of the Macbook lifestyle. And I instantly felt in love with it. This pushed me to go out of my way and get my own personal Mac, which I could now finally afford. Thing is, while I couldn't be more happy with my laptop choice, I feel that now the "cool" thing to do is to hate on Apple. I'm tired of going online and feeling shit on because I decided to buy a Mac instead of a "Master Race gaming PC", which by the way I don't even play games on (I'm a console gamer first and foremost). I use my Mac for design classes and general use, and it fits perfectly into my needs, but now I can't help but feel like the underdog owning one, after years spent wanting one and feeling the same way, but now the gears have shifted. Has anyone else felt the same way, or am I being way too dramatic/paranoid about it? PS: I made this thread on the main Apple sub but got deleted, so I thought making it here would be more appropriate, so apologies if it's not allowed... [link] [comments]

Screen Occasionally Flickering on 2017 MacBook Pro :( Posted: 06 Sep 2020 06:13 PM PDT Using a 2017 MacBook Pro 13" With Touch Bar and ill get brief moments of the screen flickering. Is this something I need to worry about? Purchased 2nd hand about a month ago. [link] [comments]
My touchbar has been flashing white, any advice? Posted: 06 Sep 2020 05:48 PM PDT So recently it randomly starts flashing a white light until I press it then it stops. Footage from a minute ago https://imgur.com/a/ui7OEyQ The other day the whole touch bar disappeared and I couldn't see any of the volume control, brightness, etc but if I pressed where they're located it still worked. All a bit worrying. Any advice? (I tried the terminal thing) [link] [comments]

How to protect screen from getting dirty and scratched? Posted: 06 Sep 2020 03:17 PM PDT Greetings everyone, I know you've all heard these type of questions before but I don't know what to do so here is the situation: I have a MacBook Pro A1706 and I am a freelance multimedia designer. In general my customers are mostly restaurant / bar owners, or people who have industrial jobs so I go to my clients and they tend to want face to face meetings even pandemic is going around. When I use my Mac on bars or industrial zones a lot of dirt and pout comes directly or indirectly to the screen. I clean it every day but rubbing the screen with a microfiber cloth is not solving my problems. I tried lcd cleaning liquids but liquids tend to leave marks on screen. I don't know what to do, I already spotted a relatively long but thin scratch on the bottom of my screen and I don't want to damage it more. I tought maybe getting a 15" tablet screen protector film and cut it according to shape then use it? I'd be glad to hear your toughts and ideas. Thank you. [link] [comments]

Battery Health Management issue Posted: 06 Sep 2020 02:08 PM PDT I purchased a 2020 MacBook Air 10 days ago. I use it almost exclusively on power but I already have 6 battery cycles which I certainly did not do. Coconut battery shows my Mac is fully charged anywhere from 97% to 99% of the full capacity, which is to be expected with the new Battery Health Management feature. Is this causing the drain and increasing cycles? Do you have it turned on and noticed anything similar? [link] [comments]
How can I connect the displays of 2 MacBook Pros and an iPad Pro? Posted: 06 Sep 2020 11:25 AM PDT I have no idea if this is possible, but figured y'all would be the people to ask! So essentially, I would like to figure out a way to connect my main computer, a 2019 Macbook Pro (usb c ports only) to two external monitors simultaneously. One of these screens I hope to use, is a 2018 iPad Pro (usb c port only). I know I can connect that one with sidecar, and I do that regularly already and love it! However I want to figure out how I can add a THIRD display in addition. This third display would be my old 2015 Macbook Pro. (HDMI, Usb 3, and thunderbolt 2 ports) Is there anyway to connect these two external monitors as extensions of my desktop simultaneously? (So I could have 3 separate screens) [link] [comments]
2015 15" Retina max specs vs 2020 13" Macbook Pro base model? Posted: 06 Sep 2020 11:15 AM PDT Currently I'm running on a 2013 13" MBP. It gets most things done, but the feet are coming off, the speakers are blown, and I'm just ready to move on to something that will be fast and last me a while. I'm looking at a Mint Condition 15" Retina for $1,163 and probably a refurbished 2020 13" macbook pro for a tiny bit more money. What would you pick and why? [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Sep 2020 10:26 AM PDT Where can I find a used or refurbished MacBook Pro any size that is a good price and safe to buy off of? [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Sep 2020 08:58 AM PDT Can someone explain the pros and cons of buying a usbc hub vs individual connectors? Would heating be less of an issue for individual connectors? Also, why do some usbc hubs connect to 2 usbc ports and others only connect to 1? [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Sep 2020 08:24 AM PDT I woke up this morning, tried to load a game, and the whole computer just shut down without hesitation. I tried to update my drivers, and it shut down when installing, now, it's 50/50 as to whether or not I can even turn my MacBook on without it shutting down after I type in my password! For context, this is a 2017 MacBook Air, so somewhat recent, and I have had no issues to date. It is also bootcamped/partitioned with Windows 10 to make gaming somewhat possible 😅. Any help would literally mean the world, this is so stressful... [link] [comments]
2019 16" Macbook Pro i9 2.3GHz vs 2.4GHz Posted: 06 Sep 2020 04:42 AM PDT Hi! I bought a new MacBook Pro 16" with; 2.3GHz 8‑core 9th‑generation Intel Core i9 processor, Turbo Boost up to 4.8GHz I will use Final Cut Pro and Adobe CC suite, Cinema 4D, Blender, Logic Pro and some other heavy applications. Not at the same time obviously :p Now I am having buyers regret because I didn't buy the Macbook with 2.4GHz 8‑core 9th‑generation Intel Core i9 processor, Turbo Boost up to 5.0GHz – because I thought that 0.1-2 GHz wouldn't matter that much and for that price (+$200). I just want to be able to use my new computer for some years without worrying about it... I can't seem to find any comparisons either (I don't really know what to search for)... Does this make any real difference or should I be happy with my new computer? [link] [comments]
Looking for some advice about dual GPU Posted: 06 Sep 2020 04:41 AM PDT Hi guys, just wanted to know if I can use both cards at the same time with a dual gpu MacBook (mid-2012). I know they are useful for hooking up a second monitor but I was wondering if just using it by itself would let me have both cards running? Hope this isn't too confusing. Thanks in advance. Any of you guys an animator that uses a MacBook? Posted: 06 Sep 2020 12:04 AM PDT I've had a surface pro 2 for while. It was ok, but I wouldn't buy another surface again. Just curious to know if it works well with animating and what drawing tablet you use as an extension. I've been wanting to get an iPad Pro, but what sucks is that not all adobe software is compatible, and that just really sucks. [link] [comments] |
