What am I missing out on by sticking with my obsolete Airport Extreme? Posted: 02 Sep 2020 08:12 AM PDT My current home network setup consists of an Airport Extreme (latest gen, 2013, white monolith tower looking thing) extended by one Airport Express (latest gen, 2012, white Apple TV looking thing) via ethernet. We've got a 300mb Cable internet package. I have a crazy friend (who is definitely not me) that insists I must be missing out on speed or bandwidth or something else by using this obsolete setup. But… am I? This Airport Extreme/Express setup has been rock solid, entirely dependable, dead simple to set up (except for this hiccup), and, as far as I can tell, provides more than enough speed and bandwidth to all of my devices (3 Macs, 2 iPhones, 3 iPads, 2 Apple TVs… all less than 3 years old). Aside from the aforementioned hiccup, I can't remember ever needing to troubleshoot or even reboot the thing. It just runs and runs. I really can't imagine how a newer setup would improve performance… and I especially can't imagine how it would improve reliability. But I do recognize that the Extreme and Express have been obsoleted and, by networking tech standards, are ancient. So, what am I missing out on? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 Sep 2020 05:32 PM PDT Edit, clarification: NOT using iCloud photos; this is a local (external HD) Photos library. iMac 5K 27" with 32GB RAM; macOS Catalina, Apple TV 4K, and Apple Photos, all running the latest OS. Title basically; been trying to find a solution to this for months. Videos are in an Apple Photos smart album shared via Home Sharing to our Apple TV 4K. We want to press Play on the first video and sit back, relax, and enjoy seeing the last 8 years of our lives, the way you used to do with video cassettes. But every time a video ends, it just quits and dumps you back in the gallery view instead of continuing to play all videos sequentially. As an example, music videos shared from the Music app DO play sequentially without stopping, so I know it's possible. Any ideas? How do YOU view all your old family videos easily without painstakingly swiping from one clip to the next? PS. Yes I know I could theoretically add all 15K videos into an iMovie project and spend the next several years waiting for it to compile a movie... that's obviously not a viable option. Posted: 02 Sep 2020 08:49 PM PDT Anyone know how to stop the fan? Or at least make it work properly. I know It has the capability to work fine because the fan worked normally for a while after overheating in the sun. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Sep 2020 08:01 PM PDT Tried all the fixes you can find on google. Contacted Apple support and found out that when I turn off cellular data and text myself the message is green and says not delivered. So the problem just started sometime yesterday I cannot text Android users. I can call them and I can text Apple users. I'm going to contact my carrier (metro by T-Mobile) tomorrow. Anyone have any suggestions or know what's wrong? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Sep 2020 07:50 PM PDT hi there was really worried about something and wanted to make sure it was somewhat normal so when I push on the MacBook on the bottom or when I pick it up it makes a pop sound and I can feel the air move a little bit. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 Sep 2020 08:48 PM PDT Recently, my Mac computer's internal drive was accidentally deleted in a botched attempt to put Bootcamp on an external drive. Everything was lost, including my Apple Music library. Fortunately, I had just recently synced all my music to my iPod Touch 4th Generation (I keep it just for music). However, now I am trying to find out if there is any way to port all the music from the iPod over to the Mac. I have tried backing up the iPod on the Mac, as well as some third party applications claiming it's what they are designed for, but nothing has worked yet. Any help is appreciated. Free/cheap options are preferred, but I am open to all suggestions. The Mac is a 2013 21.5 inch, with a 2.7 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 processor (installed with Catalina 10.15.6), the the iPod is a 4th Generation iPod Touch. Thank you for your time. Accidentally downloaded a possible virus? (Chrome) Posted: 02 Sep 2020 05:02 PM PDT Edit: Saw from Chrome Downloads "This computer is blocked.html" Edit2: Used Malwarebytes, nothing was detected. I'll take this as a no-threat incidence then. I went to a site and it automatically downloaded something. It had that warning sound (if you know what I mean) I quickly deleted the file and emptied the Trash. I even deleted all the data, cookies, cache, etc in Chrome. But my Macbook is relatively slower than before. Are there any fixes solutions to this? Thanks guys Model: MacBook Air macOS Catalina 10.15.6 [link] [comments] |

I found a quick and easy solution to lines coming down ur iPhone’s screen Posted: 02 Sep 2020 08:36 PM PDT Tl:Dr: non Apple chargers bad. If u get lines let the iPhone die, and completely too, don't even let it show the low battery and charge it back up with a apple charger. Not sure if this works for Phones that are actually damaged Summary: So I know That us Apple users alike have issues with our phones, and a thing that happens a lot with iPhones (iPad's iPods, all on iOS) have this issue lines going down our screens. Recently my iPhone 6s Plus got them and I was pissed, I take great care of it and it's always in a case, I rarely drop it and it has a small crack on its screen protector but I had an idea, right while I was setting up my electric system there was a little blue flash from my room, I thought little of it but my iPhone was charging and the blue light was a spark from the outlet so maybe there was a large influx of power that caused my 6s to go haywire, I then looked all over the internet to figure out what made my iPhone fail like that and one peculiar website (unrelated to my problem) was talking about how iPhone act up when a MFI cable is connected to a non Apple plug, I then looked at my charger and there it was a Samsung plug (which i discarded Immediately) and I figured out why iPhones freak out when plugged into a non Apple plug, its like the switch, it needs a specific connection to prevent frying the board, but my iPhone wasn't fried that badly it had lines and ghosting. So I had an idea, if my board was fried because of too much electricity than why not get all electricity out which lead to the simple solution leave ur iPhone off, to the point where it doesn't even have a low battery signal. And behold it's working, better than ever no lines or anything. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Sep 2020 08:12 PM PDT Hi all, I dropped my iPod touch yesterday and it powered off. Unresponsive to factory reset and to charging. I left it on the charger overnight and this morning it had powered itself on. This is the second time this has happened over the last year. Does anyone have any idea why this happens or what causes it? Genuinely just curious, everything works fine. Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 Sep 2020 07:37 PM PDT I tried to uninstall windows from my MacBook a few years ago but somehow did it wrong. I remember messing around with the partition but I forgot what I did. No matter who's advice I follow, boot camp won't work. The message "your bootable usb drive could not be created: there is not enough space available on the disk" keeps popping up no matter what I do to the usb. I have plenty of room on my hard drive (1TB) and the usb I was using can store 512GB. I tried everything that was recommended to me by Apple from reformatting my usb to using macOS Recovery but still nothing. Also when I try to switch to windows, an error code 0x0000225 comes out. I have a 2016 MacBook Pro. Any information that can potentially solve this problem is appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Macbook Pro appearing as audio option in iPhone Call, how to stop it? Posted: 02 Sep 2020 07:35 PM PDT This is the photo that shows it: https://i.imgur.com/cRimOlH.jpg I have tried everything, disabling Calls on Other Devices, disabling first the macbook and then Calls on Other Devices. I have Handoff disabled, I signed out from FaceTime in the Macbook, and before signing out I turned off Calls from iPhone. I have also tried to disconnect all connections except cellular from the iPhone and I still see my Macbook Pro under audio options. It is really frustrating cause sometimes I just want to turn the speaker on quickly while I'm on the phone and I end up confused with one more button to click. Anyone has a solution for this? I bought airpods pro but they sent me the regular aipords Posted: 02 Sep 2020 07:30 PM PDT Hey i need your guys help, on aug 31st i bought the airpod pros using the apple store epp and i received it the next day afternoon, i was surprised when i opened it i got the regular airpods, i called apple customer support and explained it to them and they told me to return the package to the sender and that takes long so i asked if i can just go to a local apple retail store and have it replaced there and they said yes, and on the next day i went to a apple retail store and I explained it to them and asked for a replacement and they didnt allow me because when they scanned the serial number of the product that i got, it wasnt under my name, and i got more confused and it made me think if somebody switched it because that is certainly not what i paid for, i called apple support three times now and they keep telling me to send it back, is there like an alternative fast easy way? iPad Pro 11 2018 Oleophobic coating Dosplay Posted: 02 Sep 2020 07:28 PM PDT A few months ago I dropped my Pro 11 and of course my patio foundation is brick. Dropped it smack on the display and shattered part of it. Having Apple Care I was able to mail the device in for repair. I think it would've be like $500 or more to replace without the Ins. After sending it in I did some Research on Apple Care warranty For IPad. I found out. That when. People send in their iPad. Chances are. They won't get their iPad back. It'll be a repaired iPad that someone else owned. I was a little furious. I mean, when you spend $800 on an iPad pro and also spend the money on Apple care I felt trust for Apple. Until I received Someone else is iPad in the Mail with my name on it. Everything worked fine. Then I noticed. I was always. Cleaning the screen. And then I had the iPad since 2018 I may have clean the screen maybe once since then, I'm constantly planning to screen out every day which tells me Apple uses cheap aftermarket or cheap parts for warrenty repair. There's nothing like trusting a company braving on them, I started with the first iPhone and now own a iPhone 11 pro, this is my fifth ipad. I alway purchase one when cool tech comes out. Three ipods, some AirPods and Air Pod Pro. Right now I have no confidence in Apple and I'm about to start communications with support. And knowing a 2 Trillion dollar company I won't get far. Where can I find the details info and usages of all of those macOS system agents and daemons? Posted: 02 Sep 2020 07:22 PM PDT I always wanted to disable a bunch of useless or sneaky system agents and daemons every since I start using LaunchControl, but I only felt comfortable with disabling those that are well named (say com.apple.homed). So is there a list somewhere that can tell me the usage of those system agents and daemons? [link] [comments] |
