[Meta] Changes coming to the subreddit re: Self Promo Saturday and Wallpaper Wednesday

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 03:58 PM PDT

    Good morning r/Apple!

We are very excited to present to you today the new changes coming to rappleOS 20.9 and how it will boost your productivity. We think you are going to love it.

    Self Promo Saturday

Jokes aside -- This is something that the community has asked for in a while and now that iOS 14 is out, the problem got much worse.

For some, these past few Saturdays the sub has become difficult to navigate around as the promo posts have taken over the front page and /new. As a result, we will now switch to a megathread format for Self-Promotion Saturdays instead of individual posts.

Automod will post every Saturday a thread where developers can promote their apps. We'll also allow content creators (whether that's YT, blogs, etc.) to post in this thread so that they can promote their Apple-related content.

Be advised that the 10% self promo guideline that Reddit admins have will be enforced in this subreddit. We've been lenient about it, but we can't let people use the sub/thread for promotional purposes only.

    Wallpaper Wednesday

WW becomes WWW. We are proud to announce "Widget and Wallpaper Wednesday"! We had to be a bit catchy with the name to sort of match the theme we have going (Shortcuts Sunday, Self-Promo Saturday).

The Wednesday thread will now be a showcase of your homescreen set up. Share with others what keeps you productive/busy! Do you feel more motivated when you see that Robinhood arrow going South? Are you tracking your water intake and fasting progress on your home screen? Let us know!

If you have any other suggestions for the subreddit, we'd be happy to hear it

In iOS 13, Apple made it possible to share your name and profile picture within iMessage. I would love to see this feature expanded by sharing even more.

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 03:36 PM PDT

I love this feature because this ensures I always have the correct and complete name from people, combined with a nice profile picture.

But I think it could be even better. I would like to see the social aspect from Apple Music and Game Center completely integrated in to this public profile, so you only have one username and profile picture.

You can share all information from your contact profile, with the people you want. So you can give people access to your birthday, your email, your life location, your Apple Music and Podcasts listening behavior, etc.

    What do you think?
