| Non apple apps icon keeps bouncing and app launches after some time on macOS Catalina Posted: 28 Jul 2020 12:45 AM PDT Hi, I have Macbook Pro with macOS Catalina. It was working fine till this morning when I started up my macbook, I noticed a little more than usual time to boot and after login,the startup apps took some time more than usual to launch. Then I opened a file with vlc and it just kept bouncing but vlc app never opened. Then i tried some other apps and all the non apple apps keeps bouncing. I tried with notes and photos app but they launched right away as usual. I also tried safe mode but same thing happened in safe mode. I did notice something, normally safe mode takes some time to load up but my macbook went into safe mode like instantly. Anyway problem was there as well. I don't know why its happening. It has 16 gb of ram. And It has pretty much memory (at least for vlc 😏). Any idea why thats could be happening? Thanks. [link] [comments]  | ||

This one stuck out to me because while the other passwords say they're "application passwords" or "web form passwords", this one says "SHA256". I have a pretty basic knowledge of computers but I think that's a cryptographic hash(?). Is that supposed to be there? If anyone could help me or see if they also have that saved in their keychain that would be great. [link] [comments]  | ||

It's not a problem from the ISP or the router side, it's from the MacBook but I don't know what it is exactly. It won't even let me play a youtube video or upload anything to DropBox. I've tried everything I could think of apart from upgrading to Catalina, as I want to stay on Mojave. Any ideas what could be causing this? [link] [comments]  | ||

When I used to compare 2 or more folders by selecting them than command + , they would open flush next to each other. However, now when I do it the folders open but there's a sizable space between them. I'd like to get them back to opening flush against each other, I'm sure it is some sort of setting but I can't seem to locate it. Any advice would be appreciated thank you [link] [comments]  | ||

I have been using Microsoft Office 2011 since I got my MacBook Pro in 2013. Recently I noticed that it is very slow and can be glitchy at times, which makes sense as it is a 9 year old software. As I only need office apps for very basic needs (e.g., proofreading documents from work, some PowerPoint presentations, etc.) I was looking into the free options available. I have been messing around with both iWorks and LibreOffice. I want to like Pages more than LibreOffice, however, it seems like LibreOffice gets the formatting of MS Word documents spot on most of the time while Pages always seems to be a little off. I do like KeyNotes better than the "Power Point" on LibreOffice. At the end of the day I'll probably just end up using a mixture of the two. According to the below link, the 2011 Mac Mini does not support 4K displays. I am intending to buy a 4K TV and use it as the only monitor plugged into this Mac Mini. Can I use the 4K TV at 1080p with this Mac Mini? If yes, then will the quality be bad? | Posted: 27 Jul 2020 02:23 PM PDT Sorry if this is worded poorly - I like the separator between my normal dock apps and my other opened apps, but I do not like them remaining there after I close the app. I know there are ways to put spaces between app icons, but I really like the actual separator line and I am wondering if anyone knows a way to have the separator in place when other apps are open, but not show the 'recent apps'? The disc drive will make a noise as it does when you power the machine on. Any ideas on what this code means? I had my mac repaired at an Apple Authorised repair centre recently and I noticed they snapped the corner of the connector slightly. 0 kernel: (AppleSMC) Previous shutdown cause: -102 It points that there is an over-voltage? | Catalina WiFi disconnection possible fix Posted: 27 Jul 2020 01:52 PM PDT I recently upgraded to Catalina from Sierra and had to deal with the constant WiFi disconnection issue that seems to be affecting many others. General FYI I'm in Germany with a 2015 MacBook Pro. After looking online for days and not seeing anyone post a possible solution, tinkering with my WiFi has lead to a fix that' has prevented any disconnects for the past 3 days. My router's original settings was to auto switch the main WiFi connection between 2 and 5 GHZ and I changed the settings to have separate 2G and 5G SSID options to connect to. I now have the MacBook connected only to the 2G and that has seemed to fixed it. Not sure if the issue was the router auto switching between the two frequencies or if it's simply because 2G doesn't trigger whatever the issue is in Catalina but I finally don't have to reconnect to my WiFi 10 times a day. The first monitor, which supports daisy-chaining through USB-C (Displayport), is connected to my second monitor through a displayport cable but MacOS doesn't seem to support MST from my findings online.
