Which apps are *much* better on the iPad than iPhone? Which are worse? Posted: 30 Jul 2020 06:43 AM PDT Example: Better: Reddit. So much roomier, more comments at once, giant screen for couch reddit. [link] [comments]

DAE want a Mac OS dictionary on iPad? Posted: 30 Jul 2020 01:02 PM PDT I think the Mac OS dictionary is an essential app that is missing and would make the ipad a much more profesional OS and improve the productivity and workflow of students , writers, journalists, etc ... Being able to look up a word just by touching them or by bringing up the spotlight would be amazing. Just like on Mac OS. Not even windows have this awesome feature. Do you guys think apple will add this feature to the spotlight on the future or will they release a dictionary app for ipad ? [link] [comments]
IPad Air (2019) or IPad Pro (2018) Posted: 30 Jul 2020 06:06 AM PDT I am currently a student in college and want a device primarily for note taking, media consumption, and some gaming. I am trying to figure out whether I should save a little money buy a new iPad Air ($500 with tax) or upgrade and buy a referbished iPad Pro 11' 2018 ($669 with tax). I am torn because although the pro features (higher refresh rate, better speakers, better screen, updated design with face ID, etc.) are nice to have, I don't know if I really need them. I know the Air has similar features as well and an updated processor, and saving some money would be nice as a college student. Also, I know the pro will be more "future proof", and the design on the current air will look very outdated in probably 1-2 years. I'm just at a standstill. On one hand I would like to not fork over anymore money than I have to, but on the other I don't want to buy a device that I'll possibly have buyers remorse about just to save $170 now. If anyone has had experience with any of the two devices let me know what made you choose one over the other, or if there's any features that makes one better than the other for you. TL;DR: should I save money and buy the iPad Air 2019, or spend more and buy the 2018 pro since that device would possibly last longer. Edit: Since most consensus is on the Air, I'm now comparing that air to the 2019 iPad 10.2 to see if I should just save even more and go with that device, since I have a MacBook Pro as well that can do the heavy lifting. is the screen gap really that bad? And will it be supported for 3-4 more years? [link] [comments]

File level backup for ipad/iOS Posted: 30 Jul 2020 01:00 PM PDT My IT company needs to backup critical field data from ipad/iphones and I have yet to find a solution that gives file-level access to iOS. Even enterprise solutions (Acronis/Infrascale) fall short. Do we not retain rights to our own data? Is my only solution a baremetal bakup? Help! [link] [comments]

Logitech Folio Touch - Issues with iPad? Posted: 30 Jul 2020 10:16 AM PDT Has anyone experience some issues with this product? Two main problems I'm encountering: 1. Backlit keyboard won't dim / brighten 2. iPad wont show virtual keyboard in portrait orientation (case is attached) [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Jul 2020 03:41 PM PDT Now I'm going to preface this by acknowledging that I would perform fine as a student without an iPad. I'm going into my third year as an accounting major and have done well so far, so I'm aware that a $800 tablet will not change anything dramatically. But with the potential for dependents receiving $500 due to the heals act (if it passes) purchasing one seems like a nice addition. My question is for those that do use it how has your note taking experience been with it? Have you noticed you are more or less efficient/productive? Also has it been a better or worse experience considering many have been using it for online classes. Thanks for your time. [link] [comments]
Magic Keyboard for University! Posted: 30 Jul 2020 02:27 PM PDT Magic Keyboard for University use (note taking, etc.) So I recently bought the 2020 version of the iPad Pro, along with the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil. Although I absolutely LOVE all the three products, I'm considering returning the Magic Keyboard, for simply one reason; it doesn't fold backwards so i can access my iPad while its flat down. I'm finding this to be a bit of an issue because my main purpose for getting the device was to take notes in class and study etc, and that is next to impossible if the iPad is propped up. Is there any way I can get around this problem? I could get another cover to use it while taking notes, but I think switching between that and the keyboard would be a hassle. Taking it out to take notes is a problem too because it doesn't have a cover of its own because of the keyboard and it's risky if i drop it in a hurry, etc. So how useful is the keyboard really for students? Do I keep it or return it or get a different keyboard? I did some searching but couldn't really find a good enough solution to this :( Any help is appreciated, thank you! edit: that's a ?* in the title not ! [link] [comments]

Posted: 29 Jul 2020 11:02 PM PDT Has anyone experienced accidental deletion of some notes (iPad Pro 12.9" 4th gen. iOS 13.5)? I think there may be some accidental gesture I do that in some cases is deleting a lot of notes. I have been using the 4-finger swipe left to go to the previous app, but sometimes perhaps I accidentally activate Notes, which was a Slide Over app on the right. I do not think either the current app I was using or the previous app to which I 4-finger-swiped was notes, not sure at all of exactly when this occurred. In this case I noticed that about 6 separate notes had been deleted. These were the most recent ones i used. I was able to recover them from Recently Deleted, but had I not noticed, they would have been lost. This has happened twice now. Any idea what could cause it (and this how to prevent it). It's obviously terrible UI design that some random gesture deletes a bunch of notes. Has it happened to others here? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Jul 2020 12:22 AM PDT The very recent iPadOS 13.6 added granular control over auto-downloading and auto-installing system updates (which is nifty) but defaulted them both to on even though I had it disabled previously. Also applies to iOS for iPhone users of course. [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Jul 2020 08:50 PM PDT I'm trying to become as "paperless" as possible. I bought my 10.2" iPad and Apple Pencil on an impulse because I thought it was going to be easy to hand write notes and turn them into editable text, but I found it was not easy at all. I tried GoodNotes and Notability, but both required surrounding handwriting with a lassoo tool (not all that easy!) and converting the text. Then I found that when I imported the converted text into Word documents it wasn't editable, the spacing was all wrong, etc. Those apps didn't suit my needs. So frustrating. I wanted to be able to take notes over the phone when talking to clients and to take notes when with clients without a keyboard between us. Then I wanted a fast, easy way to turn the handwritten notes into editable, searchable text in documents transferred to my work PC via DropBox. Nebo App saved me from throwing my iPad through a window. It is very accurate at reading my handwriting in print or cursive, and I can also use my bluetooth keyboard to type on it. Simply by exporting the note to Word, it turns into editable text (I don't even have to take the interim step of converting it first). I'm so thrilled because it does exactly what I want. It may not be "as good" as Notability and GoodNotes for what they do (annotate, draw, use templates, etc.), but it's exactly what I wanted to use my iPad for. And because I bought both Notability and GoodNotes first, I still have them when I want to annotate a PDF or doodle. [link] [comments]
