I got a Macbook Pro 13 inch 2012 for free from my GF. Upgraded it.. First mac in over 10 years.

Girlfriend of mine gave me her old MacBook pro because it was slow. She had it laying around.

I upgraded the ram from 8 to 16 gigs put in 2 SSDs and replaced the battery. Reformated fresh install of Catalina. Runs great.

    Worth Upgrading?

    Posted: 25 Jul 2020 09:10 PM PDT

I currently have a 2018 15" macbook pro, and currently i'm on my second replacement and going mad because of the keyboard. I now have enough money to consider upgrading and as i'm a CS student who programs I make heavy use of the keyboard.

However, I can also just use an external keyboard, so i'm thinking about whether should hold onto it for a few more years or upgrade to a current macbook pro 16".

    Battery Problem?

    Posted: 25 Jul 2020 08:07 PM PDT

    Hi, everyone!

I currently own a MacBook Air 2020, and so far I have not experienced any problems with it except the battery life.

It drains pretty fast at around 4% every 4 minutes or so even when I'm doing light stuff such as web browsing and other stuff too. Besides that, it also drains when I put into sleep mode.

I would like to know if I have a defective battery or is there any other way that can fix this problem?

How durable is the new macbook air compared to its’ predecessor?

How durable is the new macbook air?

I used an Air 13 (2015) for almost 4 years - broke down cause of logicboard and i blame my over-use since i know the unibody macbooks are durable.

Im currently looking at the new air since its affordable, had to skip the 2018 model since it was expensive and my mac was ok at the time. Anyway, is the 2020 air generally ok? Is it as durable as the old aluminum model?

And the most important questions: how is it better than the 2018 model (the first gen of the "colored" models). Also, what are the issues? (Im a light user so i really want the air)

(Also, im choosing between the Mac air as my main device OR ipadair3+cheap windows laptop - cost is the same actually)

The advantage of ipad+windows - more devices, not prone to overusing one BUT, i never liked windows laptops, slow and unreliable.

The advantage of mac+iphone - the ecosystem, need i say more?

    Also, SPACE GREY OR SILVER?

2020 MacBook Pro overheating when watching videos

    Posted: 25 Jul 2020 01:16 PM PDT

Just bought a brand new MacBook Pro 13 inch....previously had a mid 2017 MacBook Pro 15 inch.

Whenever I watch any sort of videos, like YouTube, Netflix, or Disney +, my new MacBook gets extremely hot. Normally my MacBook temperature is around 45 degree; but when i watch videos, the temperature goes up to 70 degree. I usually use safari to watch videos but my MacBook still heats up a lot.

Is this normal? My previous 16 inch MacBook Pro didn't even have this problem.

    My new MacBook config is:

2.0GHz quad-core 10th-generation Intel Core i5 processor Turbo Boost up to 3.8GHz Intel Iris Plus Graphics 16GB 3733MHz LPDDR4X memory 1TB SSD storage¹ 13-inch Retina display with True Tone Magic Keyboard Touch Bar and Touch ID Four Thunderbolt 3 ports

Is it normal for my battery to be this degraded on 18 cycles or is it the age of the battery?

Mid 2012 MacBook Pro, suddenly extremely slow.

    Posted: 25 Jul 2020 01:33 PM PDT

Hey y'all, so I'm freaking out because my MacBook (running Catalina) suddenly started running super slow too the point where I can't even use it. I recently installed a 1TB SSD, and my storage is only half full. It was running perfectly fine for weeks after installing the SSD, and then out of the blue 2 nights ago became so slow that even opening system preferences causes a spinning wheel for at least a minute. I've tried restarting it and updating but nothing has helped. If anyone has any idea what it could be I would greatly appreciate the input. Let me know if you need more info on my machine.

    Posted: 25 Jul 2020 08:46 AM PDT

Is the MacBook Pro supposed to get hot while charging it or using it in the bed. I've noticed that the computer becomes hot to touch. I just got the computer yesterday.

    Abnormal battery health degradation ?

    Abnormal battery health degradation ?

Hi ! I bought the new MacBook Air 2020 and have it for a little bit over three months now. I'm a little bit concerned about battery health as it has already reached 91% while only doing 72 cycles.

    From Apple website:

Your battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 1,000 complete charge cycles

So I feel it degrades a lot faster than it should.

Does anybody experienced something similar ? Should I contact Apple for replacement ?

How Can I Transfer Old iTunes Playlists Info from 2014 MBP to 2020 MBP

    Posted: 25 Jul 2020 01:56 AM PDT

Could use some help. I must be missing something.

Catalina doesn't run iTunes. Current Mac OS does (High Sierra 10.13.6)

Do I really need to screenshot 150+ playlists for reference or is there a way to export the iTunes playlist data info from 2014 MBP and have it be readable in a text file (at least) on 2020 MBP? I just need to be able to reference which songs I have sampled for which beats.

    Thanks in advance
