- I made placiibo an app that allows you to make NFC tags from raw binary files instead of the typical NDEF tags. It also supports making amiibo if you have a backup of your amiibo.

Posted: 18 Jul 2020 03:17 PM PDT I can't be the only one that this bothers. When opening any non-optimized iPhone built apps on the iPad Pro, it forces the rotation into portrait. So if you're docked or something your iPad displays it sideways. So you either have to crane your neck or undock/rotate the iPad. I feel this limitation is unnecessary, at least on the larger screened iPad devices, as there is adequate space. [link] [comments]

Posted: 18 Jul 2020 10:00 AM PDT The reason I ask is... it's just not consistently useful enough to rely on. Somehow, it's decent at reminders since it will generally get the date and time right... even if the Reminder text is nothing like you dictated to it. Don't get me wrong... ALL the "virtual assistants" are universally NOT great. At home, I use Alexa to control the lights, play music, thermostat, and security cameras. I find I have to repeat myself about 80% of the time for simple things like "Alexa turn the lights on" and it only gets genre music requests right about 30% of the time and (it's lower if it's a specific song). "Alexa play some pop music". Alexa - "Here's some classical music". Lol. I feel like I must be missing out on something here... they have to be better than that at this point right?? I am a mid 40's guy who speaks clearly (have done a lot of public speaking) with non-regional diction... I can't imagine if you had a regional accent. Edit: Thanks everyone. I never expected such information! I hope Apple Pay's attention because my takeaways from this thread is the majority of users only use Siri for the most simplistic tasks: timers/reminders/alarm. However, there are some "super users" (for a lack of a better term) that really do some cool stuff, especially leveraging shortcuts. So as Siri improves they need to figure out to do more to educate people how to use it more fully. [link] [comments]

Posted: 18 Jul 2020 04:13 AM PDT Why does Apple allow/encourage this. I purchased tons of iphone apps over the years and spent $1000 dollars on the app store. Over the past two years, every single one of those apps has changed to a subscription model and expects me to subscribe to get access to features that I already purchased at full price years ago! Apple should be encouraging apps that were once paid apps, to grandfather in purchasers when an app changes to a subscription model. But it doesnt seem to be doing anything of that sort, and for the past few years has been encouraging paid apps to switch to the free to download, subscribe to unlock even basic features model. Am I the only person that thinks this is wrong. Having paid $20 for an app years ago, only to get that app changed to a subscription model with the features I already paid for now locked away? Why arent people who paid for an app before grandfathered in when that app changes to a subscribtion model? At the very least, shouldn't Apple automatically refund the purchases of apps when a developer switches from a paid app to a subscription app? Do they refund apps that they remove from the app store and dont give you a way to redownload? Is the EU okay with customers losing access to features they paid for in this manner? What is apple's policy for situations like this? I don't want to subscribe to something I already purchased. All this has done is make sure I never spend another $10 to purchase an app store app again. Whats the point if I will just lose access to that app again in an year and apple will do nothing to help me? [link] [comments]
