My mac doesn't let me delete the AppleTV files from System Information, even though it takes up almost 10GB of my storage. | Safari 13 element blocking extension? Posted: 10 Jun 2020 10:27 PM PDT Hey. My sister just downloaded safari 13 on her mac and it removed the ublock origin extension. I have found plenty of different ad blockers, but one of the useful 'features' that it had, which I used the most, was to block any element of a website such as images or even text. I haven't seen another ad blocker that lets you use this on safari and tried searching for one but I really don't know what to look for. I am perfectly fine with using a separate extension as long as it lets me block images. Does anyone know what I could use or where I could ask in case this subreddit turns out dry? | Extreme slowness after changing from original ssd to corsair ssd (Macbook Air 13'' (mid 2013) Posted: 11 Jun 2020 02:08 AM PDT Hello, I have a macbook air 13'' (mid 2013). I changed the original disk with a corsair 510 series . I was expecting a speed up but all I get is issues. After replacing the original ssd, I started the computer and all of a sudden the fan started to blow as in a heavy load. Nothing heavy was loaded. I installed the Catalina but nothing changed. In fact, all I get was slow boot up, slow loading of programs and extreme fan noise. Then I replaced the new one with the old one, hoping that everything backs to normal. But, no. I am facing the exact same issues. On both situations, I did SMC and NVRAM solutions. But it is not configuring it self to factory condition. | Viable alternatives to Photos App? Posted: 10 Jun 2020 09:58 PM PDT Hey, recent Windows transplant here. I've got about an 8k photo collection I am trying to use as easily on my mac as I did on Windows. The Windows 10 photos app (for all it's shortcomings) worked really well for viewing the collection without much user input. It would automatically import new photos in specified folders, do all the person recognition stuff and even did some basic movie (i.e. memory) creation. After using photos (and importing the entire collection 4 or 5 times) over the past month, and running into issues of the collection taking days to "optimize" and most recently limitations on no copying images into the library, I've sort of given up on using the default app. I love the potential here, but the execution is just not there for my use case. What alternatives exist out there? I'm not looking for an editor, but more of a photo collection/organizer on steroids that would combine Photos in mac and windows together? [link] [comments]  | ||
| Macbook Air 2020 Trackpad 4 finger swipe seems buggy Posted: 10 Jun 2020 05:58 PM PDT Hey guys, I just got a 2020 Macbook Air and it's my first time ever owning a Macbook. I like it so far, but I am having a ton of difficulties with the trackpad. A lot of the gestures seem inconsistent despite me very clearly using the same motion multiple times. But the most aggravating thing, and the reason why I am making this post, is that 4 finger swipe seems to override 3 finger swipe in System Preferences > Trackpad. If I turn on Switch Between Full-Screen Apps, I have the option to do so with 3 fingers or 4 fingers. If I do so with 3 fingers, every time 4 finger swipe does it as well. If I do so with 4 fingers, 3 finger swipe does nothing, as it is supposed to. It seems like potentially 4 finger swipe is built in as being the combination to switch apps? Is that possible? Am I missing something? I'm probably missing something but this has been pretty frustrating for someone switching to a Mac to improve his productivity. Posted: 10 Jun 2020 08:26 PM PDT Does anyone know an app that can open images in a given folder one after the other and with let you keep or delete each, so that you can delete unwanted photos from collections of 100s of photos? You end up taking a lot of photos over time but then don't want them all. | Anyone else having massive SMB problems in recent versions of Catalina? Posted: 10 Jun 2020 04:13 PM PDT I thought I had made it through Catalina unscathed...but now...the recent versions are causing problems. I use SMB to connect to an Nvidia Shield that I read and write files to. (I do this in finder by clicking Go --> Connect to Server --> smb://*Nvidia Shield IP Address* It's always worked pretty well and transferred pretty fast (both my Macbook Pro and the Shield and cabled into a gigabit router). Lately, I can't even connect to it. I get an error saying it can't connect. On the off chance that I actually am able to connect, It's not reliable enough to transfer files of any size. It will almost always get an error while transferring and cancel the transfer. This wasn't a problem back in Jan/Feb/March...have recent builds of Catalina screwed around with SMB implementations? Now my tabs will not sync between my phone and my laptop anymore. I've tried to remove Safari from iCloud and bring it back on both devices, but to no avail. I also tried to remove the MacBook from my iCloud account and bring it back, but again, no success. Has anyone ever heard of this issue or have any ideas in solving it? Thanks! EDIT: ISSUE RESOLVED Steps: I realized that my Safari needed to update, which I had not yet done. I updated Safari, and then shut off both my MacBook and iPhone and waited 5 minutes, then turned them back on and now they sync again! [link] [comments]  | ||

| Is it possible to see the EXIF/Metadata revision history of a photo in Finder? Posted: 10 Jun 2020 05:46 PM PDT I have a photo saved in Finder of a photo taken from the VSCO website. I already know the file is edited because of a VSCO filter and/or cropping applied to the image, but I want to see how I could find the original data of the photo from when it was first taken. Is there any way I could extract the different layers of EXIF data to where I can view the original data of the photo? (Like GPS coordinates, or when the photo was first taken, etc..) Or would be file be permanently altered, where it only contains the current data of when it was last edited from VSCO? I don't know how I can find all of this in Finder. Thank you in advance. | Macbook Pro not auto-connecting to Bluetooth Headphones Posted: 10 Jun 2020 04:22 PM PDT I recently purchased a pair of Sony WH-1000XM3 bluetooth headphones. I paired them successfully to my MacBook Pro (13" Retina, Early 2015, running macOS Catalina 10.15.3) and they work fine. The only problem is, that the headphones will not auto-connect to the MacBook when I turn them on. Bluetooth is always on, on my Macbook. There are no other devices that the headphones could connect to nearby, I've restarted the macbook and the bluetooth module. One thing that I've noticed - when I'm in Bluetooth Preferences, and I turn my headphones on, I see them become "Connected" for a split second before disconnecting again. So it seems like the computer is attempting to make a connection automatically, failing, and giving up. I then need to click 'Connect' and it connects successfully.
