Isn’t there a program that lets you stream your desktop power to your MacBook? Posted: 03 Jun 2020 09:15 PM PDT I recall seeing a subscription program that's let you stream your desktop parts over to your MacBook via the internet. I forgot the name of it, but it's sort of like cloud based computing, but instead uses your computer as the server. [link] [comments]
Is Macbook Pro 2020 better than Macbook Pro 2019? Posted: 04 Jun 2020 12:41 AM PDT I've been thinking of getting the 13inch MacBook Pro but I've noticed that there aren't many differences between the 2020 and the 2019 version. The 2019 one is a couple hundred $ cheaper tho. I know that the keyboard is different but do you guys know if it's worth paying the extra $ for the 2020 keyboard? [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Jun 2020 04:46 PM PDT I have a 2013 Macbook Pro and began having charging issues maybe a month or two after I replaced the battery. I don't know if that's the reason why it isn't charging or if it's because of this stuff on the charger and charging port. https://imgur.com/p9bTjju https://imgur.com/LlyVP8k Do I have to replace either of them or is it a problem with the battery? I haven't gotten any notices on my Macbook saying that it's an issue with the battery and I bought this computer used, so I'm not really sure what conditions it was exposed to. [link] [comments]

MacBook Air with other speakers help please! Posted: 03 Jun 2020 08:04 PM PDT So I'm using my Mac book to play music for a wedding and I was wondering if I could just plug the speaker connector into my headphone port thing and it would work? Or do I need to order some kind of adapter? When I've used it with my iPhone 11 I just had to use the Apple dongle to play the music. I have the MacBook Air that has the two thunder bolt ports on the left and the headphone hole on the right. The speakers/amps whatever aren't Bluetooth. If I need an adapter could you tell me what kind/drop a link? Thank you!:) [link] [comments]
My MacBook Air (2019 model) is blacked out Posted: 03 Jun 2020 07:48 PM PDT I got my MacBook literally three days ago in the mail and everything was working fine. One of my friends suggested getting league of legends since I could finally play with them so I did. Long story short, I was playing earlier and took a quick bathroom break for a few minutes and when I came back, my screen was blacked out and my Mac was unresponsive. I tried plugging it in just in case it died, and it's been hours and still nothing. What should I do? [link] [comments]
Has anyone tried to game with the MacBook air 2020 + an eGPU? Posted: 03 Jun 2020 10:04 AM PDT Has anyone tried to game with the MacBook air 2020 + an eGPU? And does the heating problem make it a lot worse? [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Jun 2020 12:53 PM PDT My mom needs a new laptop and since she has an iPhone and iPad, I figured a MacBook would be a good choice. She usually likes to keep her devices for long periods of time so I'm willing to pay for the upgrades as long as they're reasonable for her uses. She primarily uses it for excel, docs, some web browsing and YouTube. (Although she usually prefers YouTube on the ipad) She also uses it to transfer pictures and videos but she has an external hard drive for that so I'm not super concerned with the laptops memory. I'm leaning towards the i3/16gb/256 configuration, should I also update to i5? [link] [comments]

2015 MacBook Air to Display 2 External Monitors Posted: 03 Jun 2020 03:46 PM PDT Hello! I have a MacBook Air and wish to display using 2 external monitors. Here is what I have:
While the MacBook Air is closed, I'd like Left-Monitor to be on Mirror Mode, while Right-Monitor to be on Extend Mode but also rotated 90°. I had to return this item because it did not work USB to HDMI Adapter What other options could you suggest for me to try? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Installing Windows 7 Professional on a Macbook Late 2009 running El Capitan. Posted: 03 Jun 2020 07:12 AM PDT Hello, recently I've been trying to install Windows 7 on my Macbook (Late 2009) using Bootcamp and the built in optical drive, however, when I'm about to install windows 7 it shows an error: " No device drivers were found", I've tried using this https://support.apple.com/kb/DL995?viewlocale=en\_US&locale=en\_US which are the drivers for the Late 2009 iMac, and even the drivers that are downloaded from BootCamp are also not detected, the Pendrive that I use is a 16gb usb 3.0 device. Question about browsers (Firefox Vs. Chrome) Posted: 03 Jun 2020 08:12 AM PDT [TL;DR] Is Firefox just as cpu hungry as chrome, or is it more effiecient and still usable (relative to chrome) on mac? I know chrome is basically out of the question for daily use. Hi, hope you are all safe and well in these crazy times. I know the word around here is that chrome and firefox are cpu/source hogs on macbooks, chrome especially. But I was wondering if Firefox is just as much a source hog as chrome, or is it not so bad, compared to safari at least. I really dont like safari, and want to find a browser that is the most cpu efficient (probably will never be one as efficient as safari), and uses the least battery. I think firefox is pretty close to chrome in design and usability, at least for what I do... What do you guys think? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Jun 2020 10:20 AM PDT So, recently I've been trying to download Rainbow Six Siege and I use a MacBook Air 2017 13 ' but the bootcamp keeps saying "you need x (the space I have available > x) more space available". Please help me I really want to play and this is really frustrating to deal with. [link] [comments]
Hello there, can you help me please? Posted: 03 Jun 2020 07:10 AM PDT Right now I own a MacBook Pro mid 2012, and is having a lot of issues with Final Cut and the Major Adobe Apps, and next year in college I'm going to work with all theses apps. Between the this year's air or pro and last year's air or pro what do you think it's the right on for me? [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Jun 2020 04:10 AM PDT I just bought an i9/1TB/5500M 16inch MBP and was very happy with the purchase until I started noticing a subtle coil whine even while the machine is idle. It's not that loud but loud enough to bother me (I'm really sensitive to noise) and definitely wasn't present on any of my two previous MBPs. I can't seem to find any other threads on this issue and was wondering whether a bit of coil whine is just par for the course for new MBPs or if it might be worth it to get a replacement (I have AppleCare+). It's so soft that I can't really capture it through video but it's unmistakenly present and I'm sure it'll drive me up a wall in the long term. [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Jun 2020 11:06 AM PDT Does someone has a digital caliper and can measure the thickness of the screen of a 2020 16" MacBook Pro? Designing a part for 3D printing and I only have my older MBP. [link] [comments]
I ordered a MacBook. Heres why I picked what I picked. Posted: 03 Jun 2020 04:40 AM PDT I spent money so let me try to justify my purchase by writing about it. Summer is coming up and I think I wanna sit outside on the balcony doing some light work on a laptop. My current laptop is a 2010 MBP 15-inch. It's heavy, it gets extremely warm, it has graphical glitches, battery doesn't hold a charge for very long, fans go to max doing whatever and it only has 4 GB ram because one of the RAM slots is dead. Ever since I put a SSD in it it's been surprisingly usable despite all that but it's heavy and everything is bent and creaky. It's a veteran. So ever since the 16 inch came out with the new fixed keyboard I started looking at MacBooks again. Throughout 2016-2019 I essentially ignored them because I didn't want a bad keyboard. A good feeling and reliable keyboard is one of the things I value the most in a laptop. I guess now would be a good idea to say what I do on my laptop:
So as you can see, nothing is really performance heavy. At least nothing is graphically intensive. So let's go through my laptop options here: (I'm not doing custom orders/CTO because I wanted to order it from a local store so I get it faster. So I'm only looking at the pre configured models) The 16-inch was too expensive and way too overkill for this. And I want a 13 inch. The base 13-inch Air was a big contender. I've almost bit the bullet on it multiple times. But that 2 core i3 CPU really bothered me. It would probably have been fast enough for what I do but eventually I know it would start chugging and I would be annoyed. The i5 model could work better but then we gotta go up in price, at which price we find another contender.... The base model 13-inch Pro with 8th gen CPU. When this model initially launched I was really bothered by it because it only had a 8th Gen cpu, which feels so old, and it is old. But as reviews came out it showed it's not that much worse than the 10th gen in CPU performance. Where the 10th gen really excels is graphics performance, which I don't need. But I was still bothered that it only had 8GB RAM. The upgrade model from that is the one with the 10th gen and 16GB of RAM. If I had infinite money I'd get that just because it would be nicer. But I started thinking more reasonably: for a couple hundred more I'd get double the RAM, 2 more ports, and a CPU that I probably wouldn't notice the difference of. And we're creeping up on 16 inch territory. So I went with... drumroll The base model 8th gen 13-inch Pro. Here's why I finally settled on that over the i5 Air:
And most importantly: I probably won't use this computer for 10 years, there are lots of rumors that Apple might move to ARM or AMD soon and I'll probably wanna get in on that party. If this laptop would be my only computer I'd probably get the more expensive models, or a 16-inch, but as I said I also have my desktop PC that I use for games and heavy duty. So this laptop will basically just be my portable machine, a really fancy one at that. So hopefully y'all won't think I'm nuts and went with the wrong model and I have to cancel my order. Posted: 03 Jun 2020 10:34 AM PDT I have a quick question, probably easy for some. I wonder if Dell 3219Q, when connected through one USB-C cable, will also support two USB-A devices (audio interface and MIDI keyboard). I know that it supports 90W PD and video through one cable, but I want to have one-cable solution for the whole setup. Or can you recommend other monitor which has 4K, 90+W PD, supports two USB devices and has 100% SRGB/95+% DCI-P3 coverage? [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Jun 2020 06:21 AM PDT I accidentally broke my space key on the MacBook Pro 2017. The keycap has two sides the hook and the clip. All the hooks are damaged and since Apple won't help when they see accidental damage, I was thinking I get a keycap from ebay then go to the Apple Store to get the Keyboard Service Program. Will Apple know if key is not the original made with the laptop? How can I see that the key I got from ebay is a Apple made and not a made in china ripoff? [link] [comments] |
