Is catalina still really that bad? Posted: 15 May 2020 06:45 AM PDT Okay, so I know everyone hates catalina and says its really glitchy. I just upgraded on my main machine from sierra and I haven't had any problems except the nsurlsessiond process taking up all the cpu (I was able to fix that on another machine I just don't remember how). Other than that, catalinas been great. In fact, I find it snappier than sierra, and I haven't had any problems whatsoever (except what I mentioned above). So is catalina still really bad even all these months later? Or is it just that people can't run their 32 bit applications? Why do y'all hate catalina? [link] [comments]
Posted: 16 May 2020 02:35 AM PDT Hi team, i need to convert a VIDEO_TS folder that has inside .BUP, .IFO, .VOB files (it is an old dvd rip) to something like .mp4 in order to upload to my google drive. Any ideas of a free mac software that can do this conversion please? Thank you! [link] [comments]
Show bookmark favorites icons in Safari 13 Posted: 16 May 2020 02:13 AM PDT Is there a way to see the websites' favicons in my favorite bookmarks bar? I know there have been workarounds in the past, but so far I cannot find a way to see more than text in Safari 13. 🤨 [link] [comments]
Is it possible to make a folder and sync that with iCloud? Posted: 16 May 2020 12:49 AM PDT Desktop and documents can automatically be synced but I don't want that. Is there a way to make a folder and sync it ? [link] [comments]
Apps/Programs are opening on Login but everything related to Login is turned off Posted: 16 May 2020 12:22 AM PDT Safari, Notes, just anything that I use, every time I boot up my MacBook Air all these programs are automatically opened. I fully quit every program when I'm done. The login list in Users & Groups is empty. In my Dock I have "Open at Login" unchecked for every app. I'm confused why things are automatically opening. MacBook Air early 2015 Mojave/Catalina Posted: 15 May 2020 03:18 PM PDT Hi everyone, I have a MacBook Air early 2015 8Go of Ram on High Sierra and I was thinking to upgrade it to Mojave or Catalina (I have a bug on Safari and some images don't appear, I hope that the upgrade will maybe fix it...) and before doing it I wanted to ask you if some of you have the same Mac Book Air than me and can tell me if Mojave/Catalina works well on it. Moreover, if I save with Time Machine before the upgrading, will I be able to return to High Sierra thanks to the back up? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
How to rotate multiple videos on Mac to portrait mode without black borders on the sides? Posted: 15 May 2020 10:59 PM PDT I have hundreds of MP4 files (1920x1080) that need to be rotated 90 degrees so that they will be in portrait mode (1080x1920) [link] [comments]
Keynote: Is there any way to play a sound effect or file during a Magic Move slide transition? Posted: 15 May 2020 10:47 PM PDT Sorry if this is the wrong sub to post a question about Keynote. I can't find any recent info about how to add a sound effect or sound file during a slide transition. [link] [comments]
Are 2012 Apple computers compatible with Mojave? Posted: 15 May 2020 12:52 PM PDT I sold my current MB Pro and I'm currently waiting on a new iMac to arrive. For the time being, a friend offered to loan me his 2012 MB Pro. I'm just curious if I can install my time machine backup (running Mojave) on his older laptop? [link] [comments]
How to change location of SOME folders (not entire user/home folder)? Posted: 15 May 2020 10:00 PM PDT I want to move folders such as downloads, documents, movies, pictures etc to another slower drive, while leaving desktop, and applications on my faster drive with the OS. I cannot find anything on how to achieve this. I know how to move the entire user/home folder which includes ALL of these folders listed, and I know how to tediously manually change the download directory on every app, but nothing for doing it easily and doing it to all the folders I would like to. Are symbolic links the only option, if they will even work? [link] [comments]
Posted: 15 May 2020 09:58 PM PDT Hi, I recently received the MacBook Pro 2020 13 inch base model, and what I noticed is that the fan has a high pitch sound even when not on high rpm. for example, when I set the fan speed to 3000rpm with Macs fan control, I can hear this high pitch that gets a bit irritating. This wasn't happening on my MacBook Air 2020 that I returned due to cooling issues, I would put the air to 3000-3500 rpm, and the sound of the fan would be smooth and close to silent, even if a bit audible. The MacBook Pro however has this distinct high pitch that doesn't sound right, unless there's a difference between the MacBook pro and air fan? maybe has something to do with being connected to the heat sync in the pro? any ideas? thanks! Upgraded from sierra to catalina, nsurlsessiond is going crazy. Should I wait it out? Posted: 15 May 2020 07:12 PM PDT Okay, so I recently upgraded my mac mini 2012 from sierra to catalina. I noticed that nsurlsessiond is going crazy. I've tried numerous things, from disabling and enabling iCloud, deleting and regenerating the system.keychain file, and resetting the nvram and smc. They all work for about a few hours but then it just comes back Should I wait it out or should I try to stop it? Its been on and off for about a day now. It's really annoying because the mac gets hot and slows down a little bit. [link] [comments]
iOS and iPadOS Update issues on macOS Catalina Posted: 15 May 2020 05:32 PM PDT I recently tried to update my iPad and iPhone via my MBP as I usually would (separately). The update is roughly a gig and a half but when I check the data size consumed (via Terminal) it shows about two to three gigs consumed and even then, my device doesn't update. The data consumed is consistent with the actual consumption but my iPhone and iPad don't update [link] [comments]
Posted: 15 May 2020 11:11 AM PDT I just bought a 1TB Samsung T5 and would like to know if this is possible and how to do it. [link] [comments]
Change Keyboard layout for login? Posted: 15 May 2020 10:38 AM PDT I use a Dvorak keyboard and have for almost 25 years. Windows allows me to switch keyboards on the login screen so that I can use Dvorak but other users can use Qwerty. Is there something like this for Mac? Actually, I'd consider it a win if I could just set it permanently to Dvorak, since I'm the only user on my Macbook. [link] [comments]

Posted: 15 May 2020 02:42 PM PDT I just upgraded to Catalina and all of a sudden my documents folder is empty. The iCloud drive documents folder is non-empty however. But regardless, this is not want I wanted. Any explanation for this happening? P.S. My iCloud drive storage has ran out now. So what, does this mean that now that if I want to put something in my documents folder I won't be able to? WTF. [link] [comments]
Posted: 15 May 2020 02:24 PM PDT I just upgraded to a 2020 pro from a 2012 one. One thing I've noticed is that I can always hear the fan, quite quietly but noticeably. Is this a problem? Or just a thing with newer MacBooks [link] [comments]

Please help me update my MacOS Posted: 15 May 2020 07:31 AM PDT Hello and thanks in advance for any help. My ultimate goal is to install XCode. I go to get XCode on the App Store, but when I click "Install" I get XCode can't be installed on "Untitled" because macOS version 10.15.2 or later is required. Clicking on the Apple symbol in the top left, then "About This Mac" I see that I'm on 10.12.6. I click on "Software Update", but it says "No Updates Available". This is where I've been for the past few hours. I must be some kind of idiot. Surely it's not this difficult to update the OS. [link] [comments]
Catalina bug with size of windows - official current release 10.15.4 (19E287) Posted: 15 May 2020 09:35 AM PDT Has anyone seen anything like this? It happened after I disconnected it from the external monitor and just opened the lid and logged in. [link] [comments] |
