| Magic Trackpad clicking when not touched Posted: 01 May 2020 07:05 AM PDT I have a 2018MBP that I use for work, and I write a lot of email. I use the Magic Keyboard (2) and Magic Trackpad 2. they are both connected via lightning -> USB to mbp Ive noticed recently, that I keep 'clicking back' into a section of text I already wrote. annoying AF as i end up typing a bit of sentence in another line and have to use the cursor to go back, delete, select where i WAS typing, and retype. I thought I kept touching the trackpad with the edge of my hand which 'clicked' where I left the cursor when i opened the email or whatever. Both have worked great, but just now I realized that I was typing on reddit, my hand no where near the trackpad and poof. cursor click! my the cursor was up at the top where I started typing. anyone have suggestions? I just cleaned it with glasses / lens wipe, but Im wondering if its just getting weird? I turned the click sensitivity to medium from low. anyone else had problems with these? | Using Catalina; how to download 10.14? Posted: 01 May 2020 06:51 AM PDT I want to get 10.14 onto a partition, but the App Store won't let me even download 10.14 because it sees that I'm on 10.15. I even tried my work Mac (10.13) to see if I could at least get the dmg, but I'm blocked there because I don't have OS upgrade permissions. lol. I Have a MBP , and i also have a samsung s8+, im starting to do a lot more work in the computer and we all of tasks and remindaers and calandar notications are all online, so basically i want to have my apple calandar events and task, intergrated to my google calandar and vice versa, so what ever device i am on, i can set up a new event on my phone and later i can see it on my mac calandar, and if im on my mac i want my remindars and task to be shared on the google calandar so i can see it on my phone. sorry if that was a bit of a mouthful. if someone has done somethinf like this then please help. | 16" MBP Random Shutdowns / kernel panic Posted: 30 Apr 2020 11:47 PM PDT Seems like a popular issue, just wanted to share my experiences: -purchased a 16" MBP and received on 4/24 -updated to 10.15.4 upon delivery -experienced a few random shutdowns/kernel panics, all from "thunderbolt power on failed" -spoke with Apple Support on 4/28 and seemed to resolve the issue -experienced another few instances of kernel panic while plugged into power with no other accessories -decided to fresh install (mistake), took around 5-6 attempts and 3 hours with apple support to actually get macOS reinstalled without a random shutdown in the middle of installing -spoke with Apple Support again on 5/1, setting up a phone call to exchange the product *no hardware issues were found utilizing the diagnostic tool provided by Apple Specs: 16" MBP, 8-core Intel i9 @ 2.3 GHz, 16 GB DDR4 RAM, AMD Radeon Pro 5500M GPU, macOS Catalina 10.15.4 here's the error report [link] [comments]  | ||
| Help confirm what I believe I know about drives in macOS Posted: 30 Apr 2020 09:20 PM PDT So I am sure the answer to this is going to be no, but I wanted to ask everyone's thoughts anyways. I have an iMac with small internal storage with no interest in upgrading it's capacity. Myself, my wife, and my mother-in-law all each have a user account, and all each use iCloud Photos. After my MacBook Pro, and my wife's MacBook have recently run out of space due to iCloud Photos, I have decided to shift all our data that can be moved to our shared Desktop. I have created 3 volumes on my APFS formatted 3TB external drive with each of our names as the name of the volume, and intend to use each corresponding volume for each users Photos Library as well as anything else each user needs to offload externally. I know you can have drives not show on the Desktop, and I am also aware you can eject separate volumes, but for my wife(who doesn't care to have to deal with this) and my mother-in-law(not tech savvy in the least) that doesn't work. Ideally I would want a permanent solution to allow each user to see only their volume on the Desktop(Prefer Time Machine 8TB drive to not show either for anyone but me) so that there is no mistake about where the data should be going(I want a SUPER EASY solution to present to these two women in my life). Is there anyway to actually pull this off? Like I said before, I am sure the answer is no, and I know it's no with stock Apple configuration. I wanted to poke all of your brain's before I close the book on this for good. TL/DR: Can it be made to where ONLY one volume of three from an external appear on the desktop by itself automatically on startup for each of three users? [link] [comments]  | ||

I then move this Sparsebundle to an USB drive. I disable Filevault and then enable Filevault again with an even newer password. I move this Sparsebundle file again from an USB to my desktop. Posted: 30 Apr 2020 05:45 PM PDT Catalina 10.15.4 I am backing my iMac up to a NAS and am left with 3 files: 1) iMac 1.backupbundle (this has a red "Do Not Enter" minus sign over the icon) 2) iMac.backupbundle 3) iMac.purgeable Each file's info will say "Calculating Size..." until my NAS crashes. The files seemingly cannot be copied to an external drive formatted as Journaled/GUID Partition Map. Any idea how to save these backups? Edit: I should add... There's something up with my files, and I've got a 29GB iTunes folder (specifically Music > iTunes > iTunes Media > Apple Music) and it's full of songs that I've never listened to, never heard of and never even added to my library. (they don't appear in the Music App). My 6GB of downloaded Apple Music is in Music > Music > Media. is... anything bad gonna happen if I just delete that huge iTunes Media > Apple Music folder?? Posted: 30 Apr 2020 07:57 PM PDT I have an iphone charging cable that I pretty much have only used at my desk, never kinked the cable, the cable looks almost brand new. Well I also have an older mac air from 2013 and when I went to go use that cable to charge off of my mac air, my iphone would keep disconnecting and connecting repeatedly to the point where it wasn't staying connected and charging for more than a few seconds.. I thought there is no way my cable is bad because I barely use it and it's the official apple cable. So I updated my OSX to the newest one, did a bunch of resets on my mac, restarted my iphone, cleaned out the ports, etc... and still had the same problem. The ONLY fix that worked was to kill the usb within terminal on my mac. But that was only a temporary solution and when I restarted my mac the same disconnecting would happen. Then for some reason I decided to try another cable thats also an official apple cable that is also pretty much looks brand new since I only use to charge next to my bed. WELL! the other cable started charging my iphone without any problems off my mac air.... So is my other cable REALLY gone bad? I'd also like to add that my iphone has always charged off that cable from a wall outlet just fine... [link] [comments]  | ||
