| Anybody else having issues streaming iTunes movies? Posted: 22 May 2020 09:02 AM PDT I have an AppleTV 4. It's on wired Ethernet. My connection tests at 85Mbps (I pay for 75) with pings in the 30ms range, and no other devices in the house are downloading or streaming anything. With a stream in progress, I can run a test from my Mac on wifi and still get >60Mbps, and the AppleTV continues uninterrupted. Lately, when I watch movies I bought from iTunes using the "Movies" app, it will, anywhere from just once to several times in the course of a movie, abruptly exit the stream and go back to the info screen about the movie. The one with the Rotten Tomatoes score, not the one that's like a DVD/BluRay menu. I see equivalent behavior if I use the Movies Anywhere app or my old ATV3. I have >100 movies in this library. I haven't tried all of them, but I have seen this behavior across several, consistently for at least the last two weeks. It also seems to take much longer than usual for the various screens to load and for streams to start. I'm accustomed to <2 seconds for pretty much any action; lately it is more like 10-20 seconds. Intuitively, my guess is that, thanks to COVID-19, a lot more people are at home streaming movies, and that Apple's infrastructure is under excessive load. However, I've searched fairly extensively, and I have not found any indication that anybody else is having this problem. I found an Apple support article that says to restart the ATV, to verify that it's not my network, etc. I've exhausted those options with no luck. Is anyone else having this problem? | Posted: 22 May 2020 12:36 PM PDT to Apple TV so we don't have to use and rely on that plain 'ol Roku for this task. I love my TV but this is the sole thing that doesn't have my ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE with my TV! I have the X1 DVR in the living room but in the bedrooms we just have the atvs and can't use em to watch tv, we will have to buy Roku devices for that but we're holding out hope that you'll add the app because why wouldn't you? | Computer iTunes Library Unwatched bug Posted: 22 May 2020 01:01 PM PDT I am running tvOS 13.4.5 on Apple TV 4K. I have a lot of content on my iMac (Mojave and iTunes app) under iTunes. I can watch this content from my AppleTV through the Computers/Library app. If I switch to the Unplayed view for Films or TV Programs, they use horizontal scrolling and only two rows. If I scroll to the right, the rows get narrower and narrower till nothing is displayed. Scrolling back left doesn't fix it. Unplayed feature, which is pretty useful, doesn't work. I think this has been a problem for tvOS 13, but don't recall exactly when I noticed it. I'm assuming everyone has the same bug - is that right? Is it a different experience of running Catalina on the Mac with separate Music and Video/TV apps? [link] [comments]  | ||
| Posted: 22 May 2020 05:57 PM PDT Been playing around with the apple tv and noticed that when I put it in stereo it's still pumping sound through the centre speaker. There's an obvious problem there which I'm not sure what's causing it. The other thing is are Apple expecting you to continually change the settings to stereo when you open an app like Spotify? I tried searching for this in the sub but came up with nothing so here we go. Espn+ works fine on my phone and when I screen cast. This is good. On my appletv, it has no idea that I have espn+ no matter what I do. I can't restore because I didn't but through itunes. I'm using same email address as I use with disney, espn, and itunes. | Apple TV 4K doesn’t look as good as smart hub apps Posted: 22 May 2020 04:12 PM PDT I just purchased a new Samsung 4K TV, and watching video thru my Apple TV still looks as if it's in 1080. If I load the Samsung smart hub and go to something like Netflix or Amazon Prime the quality in video is glaring, way way better thru the smart hub. I have an Apple TV 4K model, and did the HDMI cable check which turned out fine. Video and audio is on 4K HDR. Not sure where else to check? Would rather use my Apple TV to navigate. Posted: 22 May 2020 07:10 PM PDT Seriously, I heard such praise about these screensavers and so far this has to be the most annoying thing about the product. I have my downloads set to daily, it's been days, still no new screensavers. And i think it's very dumb that you can't cycle through all the screensavers you have , you just have to deal with the ones the machine randomely decides to give you? Hugely faulted design here imo. I really don't like Andrea Bocelli. I'm guessing at some point someone in our household played him, and now it's the first (of several) artists that feature.
