Posted: 18 May 2020 11:43 PM PDT I'm a student and often have a lot running at a time and I often hit temperatures in the 100-105 range, this feels hotter than a computer should safely run, how are fan control softwares and if you have experience please suggest settings too! Thanks all, I'm hopefully on my way no not burning my lap! [link] [comments]
Anyone experiencing more kernel panics/shutdowns on MacBook Pro? Posted: 18 May 2020 11:21 PM PDT I have a 2020 MacBook Pro and just recently (literally today), it's reset 5 times while I was using it. It freezes, the Touch Bar doesn't work, lid closing doesn't put it to sleep, and then a few seconds later, resets. The log shows that it's a kernel panic. It's happening pretty often tonight and just tonight. I'm on Catalina 10.15.4. Any support is appreciated. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Watching 4K videos on new 13” MacBook Pro? Posted: 18 May 2020 09:02 PM PDT This might be a silly question, but I'm buying a new 2020 13" ($1,799 model) for college, and I'm curious how smooth watching 4K/1440p videos on YouTube is, for those of you who have the 13"? My temporary $300 Lenovo laptop can't watch anything over 720p without dropping tons of frames and taking years to load, 4K made it completely unwatchable, and I'm hoping the Mac would give me a significantly better experience :) (I also play Minecraft and draw digitally in photoshop, so any insight on how those programs perform on the 13" would be great too!) Dual external monitors on late 2017 MacBook Posted: 18 May 2020 08:17 PM PDT Hi, I'm not sure what the issue is but I have a late 2017 MacBook and a recently purchased dongle (utechsmart multi-function usb-c hub, via amazon) that supports two hdmi outs. I can't get it to show both external displays in the arrangement. Anybody have a set up that works for a MacBook? [link] [comments]
Full Charge Capacity (mAh) in 2020 MacBook Pro 13" w/ 10th Gen Intel Processor Posted: 18 May 2020 08:00 PM PDT Hi everyone, I was wondering what your Full Charge Capacity in mAh is if you have the 2020 MacBook Pro 13" w/ 10th Gen Intel Processor (the $1800 model). You can find this information in the Apple Menu > About this Mac > System Report > Power I am worried mine is under what it should be? 5113 mAh is my Full Charge Capacity. Thanks! Which model is good for iOS development? Posted: 18 May 2020 01:23 PM PDT Hello! I'm planning on buying my very first MacBook for programming and mobile development (and eventually for running graphics software, i.e. Photoshop). Which one of these two models are best suited for for building apps?

Posted: 18 May 2020 12:27 PM PDT I'm currently using a macbook pro 13 from 2014, and looking to upgrade. I will be using my macbook for programming, gaming, and sitting at cafes looking at online lectures / programming. I really prefer the smaller 13 inch over the 16 inch, but exactly how much more powerful is the CPU of the 16 inch? I am thinking of getting the 2020 13 inch with 32gb ram and the upgraded i7 2.3ghz CPU. I know this makes the price of the 13 inch be somewhat similar to a 16 inch base model, but again, I really am not a fan of big laptops, since I'll constantly be bringing it to cafes and what not. I can also add, that I'll be getting the Razer Core Chroma EGPU with the RX 5700 XT. I know the 13 inch has a much worse GPU than the 16, but the EGPU will make this irrelevant. However, how much worse is the 2.3 i7 (or maybe 2.0 i5, heat throttles?) than the 6 cores 16 inch? I'm mostly talking for gaming (Don't need to comment me buying a macbook for gaming btw :)) ) [link] [comments]
Native Dual-Booting with Linux on post-retina MacBook Pro models Posted: 18 May 2020 04:05 PM PDT I've never owned one so I'm just curious (because I know that it definitely doesn't work with Kali because of driver issues) is it impossible to dual boot Linux distros on T2-enabled Macintosh systems? I've heard some people say that they've managed to get Ubuntu to work but others say that it's a nightmare. The lack of transparent is what encouraged me to write this post. Which Linux distros- if any - are the compatible with the newest MacBook Pro models (w/ touchbar) without having to go out of my way to find GitHub repos with the drivers for the touchpad, etc. I understand that stuff like the touchbar probably won't work without me installing some other stuff as well, which is a given, but going through and finding drivers for literally every piece of hardware soldered onto the motherboard because it isn't supported is a nightmare. Or is this simply not possible? In which case, what is the best visualisation software that you good people have used in your experience and what settings do you generally use? I look forward to hearing your responses. [link] [comments]
New Macbook Pro 13" user here! Curious what the best 60Hz dongle is? Posted: 18 May 2020 01:43 PM PDT Hi everyone, I really want a good and high-quality dongle for my new MAC, but it seems a bit hard to find one that supports 4k60Hz with a decent amount of positive reviews. What dongle do you guys recommend? I would highly prefer if it had 2 USB ports, but 1 is ok too. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
Posted: 18 May 2020 11:31 AM PDT I was finally able to get into my hard drive, but now its showing on the folders a red negative sign on the files for my user account any help would be appreciated. I had to use my 08 MacBook in order to get the old hard drive open, because it would not open on a newer MacBook for some reason. [link] [comments]
MacBook acts like it’s installing update but restarts shortly into it. Posted: 18 May 2020 11:54 AM PDT Hello, I'm currently trying to install Catalina 10.15.4 update. When I click " update now " it states " to update, you must restart your Mac. ". Shortly after I click this, the screen goes black with the Apple logo and the update bar but just within a few seconds, it agains goes black and restarts without the update being installed. Any ideas? [link] [comments]
Posted: 18 May 2020 11:45 AM PDT Recently I started getting a new wakeup noise when I open my laptop (coming out of sleep, not full startup) I don't know if there is an app doing it, or some other setting - but how would I go about figuring out what this is and then disabling it. I have a 2015 macbook pro running Mojave. I'm a relatively novice Mac user, so please take pity! I've uploaded a video of the issue [link] [comments]
Posted: 18 May 2020 12:40 PM PDT Purchased a used 2015 MacBook Pro 15" from a friend for $600. 2.8ghz quad core intel i7, 16gb memory, Intel iris pro graphics, 512 gb ssd. [link] [comments]

i’m waiting for my new macbook to ship and i’m so excited Posted: 18 May 2020 02:58 AM PDT my old one is a million years old and would hold a charge for like five minutes so it had to be plugged in at all times lol. I can finally run adobe programs without them freezing if I try to move an object and I can play minecraft without it overheating. [link] [comments]

Posted: 18 May 2020 10:58 AM PDT I just ordered a 13" Pro (2.0GHz i5/16GB/1TB), but I'm having some second thoughts about the 16" since refurbs aren't much more. I've always preferred 13"-14" laptops, I don't need GPU performance, I'll be using this for grad school in the future and carrying it everywhere, and I run external monitors anyway. But the 16" is tempting for futureproofing and the screen is gorgeous. Thoughts? [link] [comments]
I have been looking to buy a MacBook Posted: 18 May 2020 10:40 AM PDT In 2015 I bought a used 2012 MacBook for 250$ which was considered around up to 150$ undervalue so I got a great deal. I've long sold that MacBook...but as of recently I've looked almost everywhere for a good priced MacBook that's no older than 4 years old.... I'm in shock on how in 2020 websites like Best Buy are selling 2009 MacBooks for 450$ and 2012 MacBooks for close to 1000$ and on other websites like eBay, Facebook Market etc the prices prices are still outrageous. So now I'm on here cause I'm lost, obviously something in today's market has made it so Apple prices have gone up... Any suggestions on where to get a MacBook Pro that isn't 11 years old for 450$? Or which model is worth the price [link] [comments]

Anyone have experience getting a battery replaced through apple on a MBP? Posted: 18 May 2020 07:16 AM PDT My 2013 13'' MBP w/ retina has a "replace soon" warning about my battery. It definitely does not hold as much charge as it used it. It isn't a big problem, as I usually have it plugged into a wall while in use. Im a little skeptic since I got a battery replaced on an iphone 6s and I saw a slight improvement in battery life and it went downhill pretty fast, so I dont know if i want to spend $200 for a new MBP battery to experience the same thing. I only have 2 years left of grad school and dont see myself justifying a new laptop within that timeframe, and I dont think Ill have a great need for one once Im done with school. Plus I primarily use an iPad, but theres still things that an ipad cannot replace. But if a battery will vastly improve the life of my current MBP, I would like to get a new battery. Curious if anyone has had good/bad experiences with a battery replacement and if its worth it. [link] [comments] |
