Looking at finding a donor parts machine and replacing the display assembly at some point. My question is this - can I fit any other 21.5 in. model's display on the late 2013 or am I stuck with just that exact one? | iPad Pro stuck on loading screen Posted: 07 May 2020 09:55 PM PDT I got my iPad Pro for Christmas, so it's quite new. Just now, I was on the Google Chrome app but as i deleted a tab, my iPad froze. It didn't react when I touched the screen or anything, and since there is no home button I couldn't use that. I assumed it just had to be reset so I held down the power button and now it's been stuck on the loading screen (no apple logo, just the circle) for about 45 minutes. I put it into the charger and no luck. I have an old Macbook, so I can't even plug my iPad into it. I don't know what to do, any tips/help? [link] [comments]  |
| iPhone SE (2nd Gen) Battery Possible Solution! Posted: 07 May 2020 09:50 PM PDT Hi everybody! So I know a lot of users have been enjoying their Iphone SE Gen 2 while I understand it's a great phone for a great price there have been a handful of us dealing with a bump on the road. Battery life. I have done countless research & could not find a solution. Before i jump into this i find it discouraging how people clearly stating their problems & instead of offering a solution or trying to help they have all been getting downvoted & basically saying your sht out of luck. We should be helping each other, im sure they love Apple/iPhones & aren't necessarily trying to sht on a product they have purchased but instead trying to enjoy that said product but being a bit frustrated which is understandable. Anyways i think i have identified the possible problem (or one of the problems). True Tone. I know many people love it? like it, its a default setting, & people recommend it mainly for eye strains but I believe True Tone is the problem or at least one of them. My reasoning for this & why i came to this conclusion after hours of research because i could not stand my battery drain even after casually using it. True Tone uses an auto feature same way that auto brightness functions & they are the biggest drain in battery. Auto brightness is recommended & default yet again even though it constantly adjusts its brightness & can reach full brightness if you're out & about or even in your own home with lights. Funny thing is the iPhone recommends under battery setting through a tip to lower the brightness because it can consume a lot of battery. So if you're in the sun walking it'll full blast brightness which is not a good thing. I recommend turning it off & just setting your own mid range brightness you find comfortable. Back to True Tone. True Tone constantly adjusts it's display to make colors appear consistent in different environments based on ambient lighting same way how auto brightness works. So my guess True Tone reaches a full blown color ratio same way brightness reaches full brightness with a little bit of sun/light (& maybe even possibly in the dark?) resulting in battery drain. Based on my TV knowledge really strong bright colors/contrast uses a lot of power too same way brightness does. Now to counter not having True Tone anymore for eye strain I recommend turning on Night Shift as it does the same thing (Warms the color on your screen to reduce eye strain) but it's still & not constantly adjusting itself. Now i have just found this out today so i don't have solid proof to provide but from the little time i have been using it from a 100% charge my phone is currently sitting at 89% from a couple hours. If i did not adjust these settings my phone would currently be sitting at 50% most likely. Experimental settings: I am also using/disabled some functions that might be working hand in hand with the other settings I disabled/used. Now ima try to keep this simple. Reduce Motion- On. Reduce Transparency- On. Increase Contrast- On & i know i just contradicted myself by saying use the Increase Contrast feature but hear me out! When you use this feature on iPhone it darkens colors & we all know a darker screen/less vibrant colors helps battery life. Again this is under experimental so use it at your discretion. To wrap things up this is obviously just my own experience but i have seen a big improvement in battery already & here's hoping it'll help out another fellow SE 2nd Gen user encountering the same problems i am having along with a handful of other users. I never took it out today of its charger and just noticed while watching netflix/zoom that my battery dropped to 60% even though it was plugged in. | What’s the best way to restructure an Apple family account? Posted: 07 May 2020 09:13 PM PDT My dad started a family account and doesn't really know how to manage it. My family wants to set me up as the organizer but unfortunately that can't be changed through the settings. I see two routes to get me set up as the organizer. Am I right in thinking these are both functional options? Route 1: My dad leaves the family group -> he's the organizer and has to name a new one upon leaving, so he names me -> I, as the organizer invite him back into the family as an adult Route 2: My dad disbands the family account -> I start a new family as the organizer -> I invite everyone into it The first choice seems like less work, but are there issues with someone rejoining a group they just left? When i try to type a text i can't use the space bar in order to put a space, what it does is that jumps into "presentations" in the top left corner. Posted: 07 May 2020 04:28 PM PDT Hey guys and gals, I'm a old Windows user and I'm trying to do what I can for my wifes aging macbook pro 9,2. 2012 she thinks, to improve her performance. We recently installed a 1tb ssd and installed the OS fresh. It has 8gb of RAM. My wife has installed Lightroom and Photoshop and it's destroying her memory and making performance like a slide show. I was wondering if there is a way to grab 16-32gb of the SSD space to repurpose as internal RAM. I'm a total Apple newb but can follow instructions if it's possible. Thank you so much. I go to settings and it tells me that most of it are documents and I need to go to finder/iCloud drive to delete them . However when I go to finder, it says the iCloud drive isn't on, so what is happening? I also moved everything from iCloud when I turned it off weeks ago. Does anyone know what to do? | Faint vertical line in MacBook Pro screen Posted: 07 May 2020 08:00 PM PDT I've had this MacBook for just over a year now and it only ever had about 5 charge cycles on the battery. Just recently I've found more use for it and it has about 50 so it's still pretty new. There is a faint vertical line a couple pixels wide on the right side of the screen (too faint to be seen in a picture). It was flickering white, but I got someone to clean out the internals and at least it stopped flickering. He said that my laptop was overheating. Now it's the colors of the screen, but just a little bit whiter than the rest. Every time I look at my screen I notice this line and I'm considering just buying a new laptop. Is there any other way I can fix this other than replacing the screen which I'd rather not? [link] [comments]  |
| MacBook Air keeps randomly restarting Posted: 07 May 2020 01:51 PM PDT I'm using an early 2015 11 inch Macbook Air running Mojave 10.14.4. For the past few weeks, it keeps restarting for no apparent reason. I typically don't have a lot of apps open when it does, nor am I running anything particularly demanding. I haven't been able to observe any trends related to battery life, so I have no clue what might be causing this problem. She used a ton of applications for her work such as indesign, illustrator, photoshop, etc. I'm not an artist by any means lol nor do I use macs. So my question is can anyone tell me which choice would be optimal for her? She always uses her old Mac from 2010 that she kept just getting fixed and replaced parts throughout the years and it's going to inevitably fail her soon.
