64G VS 128GB for a long-term purchase in 2020? Does near full storage affect performance as well?

    Posted: 07 Apr 2020 05:56 PM PDT

Thinking about upgrading from my Android to the iPhone 11, and I've been stuck on the dilemma between the 64 and 128GB variants. I've only used 37.6GB on my Android but I heard that iOS apps take up more storage, and since I plan to keep this phone for hopefully 4 years I'll probably be taking more photos and downloading more apps. Is it also true that near maxed out storage (say I purchased the 64GB model and used 60GB of that) makes a difference in performance?

    Apple Battery Case

    Posted: 07 Apr 2020 03:42 PM PDT

Quick question for owners of the iPhone 11 Pro Max Battery Case.

Does the case protect aginst drops on hard surfaces like pavement, hard floor surfaces, etc?

I want to buy the case, but if it can't protect against a fall, I don't feel like it would be worth it for me. I would stick with my Mous case then.

    Telephoto camera doesn't actually work?

    Posted: 07 Apr 2020 04:51 PM PDT

    Telephoto camera doesn't actually work?

As we know, iPhone 11 Pro has three cameras:

    • 0.5× ultra wide (middle camera, beneath the flash)
    • 1× wide (top camera)
    • 2× telephoto (bottom camera)

    … as shown below:

    https://preview.redd.it/gc73qka0hhr41.png?width=5120&format=png&auto=webp&s=84267383cd54690de38a16226defa60ce3c5cfe9

By covering the wide camera with my finger and tapping 2× button, I realized today my phone refuses to switch to the telephoto camera — the image remains obscured, even though my finger isn't covering the telephoto camera.

Instead of using optical zoom, it just uses digital zoom on the 1× camera like a single-camera iPhone, e.g. iPhone 11, iPhone Xr, iPhone 8, etc.

The ultra wide camera is unaffected, so I can switch between 1× and 0.5× without issue.

I'm running iOS 13.4.1 — the most recent update available.

If I force-quit the Camera app and/or restart my phone, the issue is temporarily resolved, but comes right back after toggling between 1× and 2× in the Camera app.

If you have iPhone 11 Pro or 11 Pro Max, please take a few seconds to cover your top lens and toggle between 1× and 2× and let us know if you're seeing the same issue!

I found this YouTube video (September 24th, 2019 — nine days after the device was released) that demonstrates the same issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bD7P8LYtMfo

    Facial recognition with mask on

    Posted: 07 Apr 2020 03:03 PM PDT

Realized today that I can't open my phone with facial recognition with my mask on.

I tried to make a new entry for unlocking with the mask on and it says my face is obstructed.

    Any workarounds?
