Cinematographer here. Love my iPad Pro. Pre-production, lighting plans, script markup, set design, photo touch-up, LUT creation, basic editing, reference deck creation. I can pretty much do it all. Love the 11” but got my eyes on the new 12.9”.

Wierd glitch with Logitech Crayon on Ipad 7th

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 01:32 AM PDT

Does anybody know of an app that could add mathematical tools, like protractors and compasses, to the iPad (ie in Goodnotes 5)?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 08:55 AM PDT

Or, failing that, a way to make my own math set safe to use on a screen (no sharp points etcetera?)

iPad Pro as drawing pad for Windows PC?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 12:04 PM PDT

My dad is a college professor and due to the virus, he's forced to teach online.

I'm helping him with the setup for that. He wants to screen capture the powerpoint presentation on his PC monitor while making some annotations. So I downloaded OBS and set up display capture. Also got him a program called EpicPen that allows him to write stuff on the screen.

The only issue is that the mouse sucks for writing stuff down. Like if you want to write down a math equation like y=mx+b with the mouse, it'll look bad. So I'm trying to find a way to annotate on a PC screen using ipad pro + apple pencil. Any advice?

Will the iPad Pro "stick" to a metal plate?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 12:05 PM PDT

I have a regular ipad, and like to play on the couch with my ps4 controller. So i have it in a little stand arm thing to hold it in front of me.

I was thinking, if i were to upgrade to the pro, and i modified my arm stand, would it stick to a piece of metal/plate?

Keyboard case with multiple viewing angles

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 08:42 AM PDT

I'm think I'm going to buy the iPad Pro 12.9 2020 soon, but the only thing stopping me is the lack of keyboard cases or cases that offer multiple viewing angles. I currently have an iPad Pro 10.5 with the Logitech slip folio which has a strong kick stand. But, I can't find anything out there that's similar for the iPad Pro 12.9. Any suggestions? Thanks

Games on iPad with PS4 controller

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 09:58 AM PDT

I am not a gamer whatsoever but since being quarantined I would like to "game" with my iPad, so I've been considering buying a PS4 controller. Is there enough decent games to play? If so, does anyone have recommendations?

Video editing on iPad mini 5

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 05:17 PM PDT

I have to regularly edit video files in TS format (apparently some sort of container for mpeg-2).

On my MacBook Pro I use Premiere Pro to do this.

What is the best workflow for doing this on my iPad mini? Is the format supported? Which editor app should I use? And what is the best way to transfer the TS files to my iPad? Should I use a lightning to usb adapter? Can I access smb shares from my iPad?

    Any advice will be appreciated.

For those of you who use iPad regularly, what are some pros and cons of using a tablet vs a notebook ?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 08:51 AM PDT

With all the buzz around the new 2020 ipad pros, I'm thinking about trading in my 2018 MacBook Air to transition into a more versatile tablet like the iPad Pro 2020. Just wanted some insight on how much better or worse this is as an all in one tablet !

Interesting thing I found out about iPadOS Safari, don't know if anyone has seen it before

This is a video of me playing Command And Conquer HTML5 port via Safari, full screen mode. As you can see, the in-game cursor follows the iPadOS mouse cursor, yet I'm not actually clicking the mouse, so in theory it shouldn't work. Another thing to note is that I was able to use the arrow keys to move the camera around. On a separate note, Discord shortcuts like Shift+Enter also works in Safari.

Anyone else running into bugs when toggling certain keyboard options?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 11:54 AM PDT

I was poking around in keyboard settings today because I was getting tired to the grey box popping up whenever I went to type. I've noticed two bugs so far that still exist after multiple restarts:

    1) When Shortcuts is toggled 'Off' I can't go back and forth and type in two windows while in split-screen. For example, when I'm splitting between Safari and Messages and typing in Messages, I cannot also type in Safari. I'll tap a field and the cursor blinks, but any typing remains stuck in Messages until I kill split-screen.

    2) When Auto-Capitalization is toggled 'On', if I minimize a window and come back to it the first word I type will be capitalized no matter where it is (middle of a sentence, etc.).

Anyone else experienced these? This is an '18 Pro running 13.4

    Best apps for designing rooms?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 01:30 PM PDT

Specifically I just want to be able to create potential game room layouts and see how they would physically look. Just as a hobby so if it's more noob friendly the better. Also I have procreate if for some reason one app is good for creating the desks and the bulk of the layout and then procreate to add effects like to make it look like glowing rgb lights are behind a desk for example.

We hear that the Ipad pro with the magic keyboard could replace a computer for the average person, but what about an Iphone?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 05:30 AM PDT

I have a rather odd question to ask and I am curious if anyone else has considered this or has done it already. My question is if I would be crazy in considering replacing all my products with an Ipad? My laptop has basically been replaced at this point and I hardly use it. I used my laptop for school, surfing the internet, social media and watching videos or movies. I can now do that with my Ipad and smart tv.

Now lately I've noticed my Iphone as well is being used less and less. Most of my time is consumed on the ipad. I usually only make phone calls maybe once a week sometimes even less than that. My primary means of communication are texting, emailing and social media. I feel like I'm paying a monthly bill on my phone for nothing. Is there any way I can get a cellular Ipad pro to receive and make calls? Having phone calls on speaker wouldn't be a big issue for me and portability also wouldn't be an issue since I carry my Ipad with me everywhere because of work and school. Is there even a point for someone like me to have a phone? Is there an option for the ipad for those rare phone calls I have? Has anyone else considered this or has already done it? Do you barley use your phone these days like myself?

tl;dr : If the Ipad Pro could replace laptops for the average person can it replace the Iphone as well? I only use my phone for the occasional phone call other than that it gets no use.

Any good way to switch Magic Trackpad 2 back and forth between iPad and Mac?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 11:01 AM PDT

Right now disconnecting it from my iPad isn't enough to reconnect it to my Mac, I need to have the iPad "Forget This Device" or else it will keep trying to steal the trackpad connection back.

Even after that, I still have issues reconnecting the trackpad to my Mac. It took a a lot of frustrating troubleshoots and restarts to get it going again. I'm a little bummed because it's super useful on both devices but I'm not buying a separate expensive trackpad just to use on one.

    Any ideas?
